Egyptian Prez Candidate: Hamas Not Really a Terror Group

Egyptian Prez Candidate: Hamas Not Really a Terror GroupAmr Moussa, the longtime secretary-general of the Arab League, recently gave an interview to the Washington Post. It was published Monday. And guess what it revealed? The possible future president of the much-hailed democratic Egypt doesn’t think Hamas (the terror group) is a terror group, and does believe the nuclear “issue” in the Middle East is more about Israel than Iran.

This is what democracy looks like.

You can read some excerpts from the interview below:

Officials in Washington are concerned about the change in Egypt’s relationship with Iran.

Iran is not the natural enemy of Arabs, and it shouldn’t be. We have a lot to gain by peaceful relations — or less tense relations — with Iran.

The U.S. is focused on the nuclear issue.

The nuclear issue in the Middle East means Israel and then Iran.

If you become president would you keep the [peace] treaty with Israel?

The treaty is a treaty. For us, the treaty has been signed and it is for peace, but it depends also on the other side. . . . If you asked me what kind of relations between the Arab world and Israel I would like to see, I would say that the Arab position — of which Egypt is a party — rests on the Arab initiative of 2002.

[...]

Going back to U.S.–Egyptian relations, how will they change?

Egypt conducted its relations in the region in a way that the people did not accept. Egyptian-Arab relations is one thing; the Palestinian question is another. . . .

Blocking Gaza and enforcing the siege along Gaza — people didn’t like that. We should have insisted and used Egyptian-Israeli relations to try and undo and put an end to the siege that caused a lot of suffering to the people of Gaza. The whole world has said exactly what I am saying — that the siege has to come to an end. The old regime was not of the same view.

[...]

Now you have brought Hamas to Cairo.

The view that Hamas is a terrorist organization is a view that pertains to a minority of countries, not a majority. Being a terrorist is not a stigma forever.

To see how Hamas is not really a terror group, go here. Also, American Thinker exposes the Post’s soft stance on Hamas here.

Wow. Take The Arab Peace Initiative from 2002, read section 2. III. which says: III- The acceptance of the establishment of a sovereign independent Palestinian state on the Palestinian territories occupied since June 4, 1967 in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Their plan is crystal clear to anyone with common sense. They plan to start a war.

Hamas is fighting for the palestinian people who the racist israelis are trying to ethnically cleanse. They fight with what they have as do the murderous americans and israeli’s.Demonize them all you want ,you murderers who didn’t expect them to fight back against your racist state and ethnic cleansing but they did and they do.Hamas would accept israel with 67 borders but you want their soul. You want them to renounce their belief that the creation of the state of israel was injust and therefore morally illigitimate. You want to control their very thoughts and they will not allow you to.You have a view of yourselves as being noble and the creation of israel as being a heroic glorious event and they believe it was ignoble and criminal and racist .It is not about borders but your sense of yourselves-your honor which is impuned in their belief about the creation of israel as ignoble.Your refusal to negotiate the borders which would bring peace and security to israel is because you would rather see your own people killed and living in fear then allow the Palestinians their innate freedom to believe whatever they want about the creation of israel. You want to control the narrative about israel and they won’t let you but unsist on their narrative that the creation of the state of israel was unjust..Doesn’t mean they want all Jews dead but it does mean they want their freedom to believe whatever they want about the creation of israel. You want to control their very souls[beliefs].

Granted I don’t know all the facts about Hamas other than they are Palestinian and they feel that they have been wronged with the creation of the Jewish state; however, if you have a grievance against a much stronger state and you cannot go jump into the latest and greatest F-22 or A-1 Abrams tank how do you overcome your enemy? If you were in their situation what would you do?

All of this terrorist nonsense really distracts from the real issue at hand there and it is the creation of the Jewish state. How do you deal with it? Is there anything that can be done? Is there anything which the International community could do to placate both sides? This whole situation is nothing but one big mess!

To deny the reality of the situation by just labeling the disenfranchised group a terrorist organization may allow one to feel justified in seeing them slaughtered but it does not get to the root of the problem. It will only exacerbate the problem and lead to a much bigger conflict.

I think Hamas may be on record as saying there is no two state solution so if that’s the case we need to just stand aside and let them go at it?? Should we arm the Palestinians as well and make it more of an even fight? That way you’ll no longer have to call them terrorist right because generally a terrorist is someone with a grievance but doesn’t have an Army in which you have to fight with? Justified or not the IDF killed 1500 Palestinians a few years ago many of them civilians are they t
