ElBaradei: Israel Has Peace Agreement With Mubarak, Not Egypt

One of the key leaders in Egypt’s anti-government movement is continuing to make waves, suggesting that he could soon go from being an “agent of change” to the country’s next president. But what does that mean for Egypt and her allies?

In a new interview with Der Speigel, Mohamed ElBaradei suggests that the region may soon experience an “Arab spring,” and distances the policies of the Hosni Mubarak administration from the future of Egypt, including a peaceful past alliance with Israel. When asked specifically how a new government potentially including the controversial Muslim Brotherhood would affect Egypt’s relationship with Israel, ElBaradei said that Israelis need to understand it’s “impossible to make peace with a single man.”

“At the moment, they have a peace treaty with Mubarak, but not one with the Egyptian people,” El Baradei said. “The Israelis should understand that it is in their long-term interest to have a democratic Egypt as a neighbor, and that it is prudent to acknowledge the legitimate interests of the Palestinians and to grant them their own state.”

SPIEGEL: What should a new president change about Egypt’s relationship with Israel? Would you go to Israel to meet with Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s hard-line prime minister?

ElBaradei: I have already made earlier trips to Israel. But, when it comes to politics, I’m always much more concerned with the substance than the form. Of course conditions have to be made better for the people in the Gaza Strip, and the blockade needs to be lifted immediately. I always tell my Israeli friends: ‘It’s also in your security interest to treat the Palestinians as partners, to grant them rights and to not humiliate them.’

ElBaradei also dismissed speculation that he wants to step into the role of Egypt’s new president, but suggested he would not turn down the position if it were presented to him:

SPIEGEL: And, last but not least, do you think you will be Egypt’s next president?

ElBaradei: That‘s not what I’m striving for. But if people’s expectations are directed toward me, I will also not disappoint them. I would like to remain independent and maintain a certain distance — both from the Muslim Brotherhood and US policy.

If the general population fo Egyupt thinks Mobarak is bad, wait till ElBeredei becomes president. they have lived in peace with Israel for over 30 years. How soon they forget the last time Irael pasted their asses during the YumKippor war. Isreali tanks were knocking on the door of Cairo and could have easily finished them off after they totaly dismantled teh Egyptian army. At the same time they wre fighting a second front with syria, and were on their way to Damascus when all the white flags went up. Now the Arabs want the territory back that they lost in that war. I’m not sure that the egyptian Army will stand with ElBeredei.

Wasn’t his election going to bring about goodwill towards the United States from these poor, disenfranchised countries?? What happened?? Is this an example of Sec. of State Hillary Clinton’s “Smart Power” foreign policy??……..well, the results so far just point to another “epic fail”……..

The egyptians are just angry becuase isreal defeated them 2 or 3 times in a number of wars and just like every other arab out there they want revenge. So if they get into another war isreal they will be humiliated again, muslims need to remember Isreal has one of the best military‘s in the world they have beat overwhelming odds in previous wars with her niebhors’s. Isreals military is more powerful than any other military in the middle east. So I would advise the egyptians not to try anything.

Obama and his chronies are not clueless they just don’t follow the same rules that had founded this country over 200 years ago. This president has in his autobiography admitted to being a follower of the Palestinian cause, so why should he be seen as other than an Anti-Israeli president. His whole Senate campaign was financed and maybe his presidential campaign might have money from the Muslim haters in the world, he and his campaign have refused to open up the books on their funding sources. So we can only hypothesize why this president likes the Muslim Brotherhood.

As humans we think that way, because God never withdraws his grace from the earth. However, that would be like asking, When the whole country falls to communist tyranny, then what? Look at North Korea, Cuba and Venezuela, and even worse, China. Countless years of suffering and slavery, yet the regime never hits rock bottom.

If left to run its course, totalitarian rule is a literal hell on earth. Suffering doesn’t peak in hell, because hell is devoid of hope. Since Islam is the evil one’s dream come true, if he ever got his way, it would be eternal hell on earth. Thank God Jesus reigns, and Satan will one day burn in the lake of fire forever.

If war does start then it will be the war that ushers in the revelation of the Anti-Christ since it will be the Anti-Christ that will bring a short lived peace to the region and will bring about the eventual return of the Messiah to the world. But he will not be happy when he returns since he will have to root out all the evil that is ingrained into his people.

Remember that Jesus told the Brothers James and John that there would be many claiming to be the Messiah in the last days they will even claim to use the Name of the Christ in doing miracles as he did but they will not be of him, he said that it would be the Son of Man seated at the right hand of God that would remove the wheat from the chaff or separate the sheep from the goats.

So in some ways Believers in the return of the Messiah of God should be looking forward to it, but I pray for those that may not see him as their Saviour, because they will not enjoy the good that belief brings to the heart.

The Mubarak regime is friendly to Israel. Mubarak signed a Peace Treaty with Israel and gave Israel the “green light” last year to allow Israel to use its’ submarines to take its’ subs through the Suez Canal in case Israel gets into a confrontation with Iran or does a preemptive attack against Iran. That is why Iran has a vested interest of making sure that there is instability in Egypt, the Mubarak regime is toppled and that someone who is friendly to Iran is appointed to the leadership of Egypt.

It is for certain that all of our allies in the region are thinking that if the United States is throwing Mubarak under the bus this fast, considering that Mubarak has been such a stanch ally to the United States; Mubarak who was actually standing on the stands when Anwar Sadat was assassinated for signing a peace treaty with Israel (that’s how Mubarak became President).

      Snow,
Actually, governments do decide who a country aligns with, regardless of what the populace wants, case in point, Obama. Any attempt to overturn a given government will reveal the popular trend, and in Egypt’s case, the trend is hostility toward Israel.

Several factors have contributed to this change, such as: Egypt’s defeat in the 1956, 1967 and 1972 wars are ancient history to the newer generations of Egyptians; Israel returned/withdrew from land it seized in those wars, thereby weakening its borders; Israel allowed the PLO (now Hamas) to set up “administrative” self-governance within its state; under Obama, America has realigned itself in favor of the Muslim world.

Above all, Islam is a religion of war and Israel will always be its main target. A peace treaty is a bump in the road, not the final destination. Obama has done much to embolden Islamists, since Muslims know where his loyalties lie and what a toothless CiC he is. Consequently, the Egyptian people have reverted to their hostile stance toward Israel. Roughly, thirty years of enmity followed by thirty years of peace. Now it’s back to square one.

Mubarak did not sign the peace treaty with Israel, it was Anwar Sadat then the President of Egypt. Because of that the Muslim Brotherhood Assassinated Sadat during a Military review in 1981. Mubarak then took over with Emergency Rule since he was in line of succession according to the Egyptian Constitution.

Mubarak then honored the Peace Agreement for more than 30 years. Now the Palestinian Radical sympathizer in chief Barak Hussein Obama along with his close friends Bill Ayres and Bernadine Dorn want the same elections, that put the Muslim Brotherhood sponsored Hammas in power in Gaza, in Egypt. This is his goal, this is the peace mission of this president to wipe Israel out of the Middle East the land that was promised to Abraham and his descendants, that means all his descendants.

It was actually El Baradei who turned a blind eye to what Iran was doing and allowed the Iranians to advance as much as they have in their nuclear development. AND, as a thank you to El Baradei, the Iranian government gave him over $7 million in September of 2010. They wanted him to run for president of Egypt to bring about “political change in the country”. The money was funneled to him in Bucharest, Romania through an Arab businessman known only by the initials A and E. That being all we know about him. Iran wants to prop up El Baradei to be able to work with the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt to get rid of the Mubarak regime.

The Islamic-friendly White House supports replacing the Egyptian government with a coalition that includes the radical terrorist sponsoring Muslim Brotherhood. This move, supported by the Secretary of State and the president, will undoubtedly usher in a new era of terrorist-based instability in the Middle East and cause grave consequences for the United States and Israel for decades to come. The president’s first major speech supported and glorified Islam in Cairo. It is likely no prophetic coincidence that since then there has been great economic calamity, oil disaster, violence on the borders, and political unrest. The more America concerns herself with Egypt, the more consequences are likely.

On National Public Radio, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said, “Today we learned the Muslim Brotherhood decided to participate, which suggests they at least are now involved in the dialogue that we have encouraged.” Clinton is holding strong to the White House line that America is supporting democracy in Egypt. Despite warnings from Israel, veteran foreign policy experts and conservatives, this White House is buying the lie that the Muslim Brotherhood will participate in a democratic government. The man in the Oval Office said, “Now, it is not the role of any other country to determine Egypt’s leaders…Furthermore, the process must include a broad spectrum of Egyptian voices and opposition parties.”

There are lessons from America’s actions regarding Iran, Iraq, and the Palestinian Authority. When President Jimmy Carter helped depose the Shah of Iran– a ruler friendly to the United States and one who kept the balance of peace in the Middle East–the result was the birth of a new era of terrorism. When President George W. Bush “liberated” Iraq and established “democracy” there–the people adopted a Sharia-law type of Constitution where religious freedom is essentially nonexistent. When “democratic” elections were held by the Palestinian Authority, the majority that were elected were members of the terrorist group Hamas.

Islam is a tyrannical political system disguised as a religion. Islam can embrace “democracy” because it feeds into Islam’s totalitarian political goals. By encouraging the engagement of the Muslim Brotherhood in a so-called democratic system, the American leadership is paving the way for persecution of Christians and Jews and the escalation of a new Islamic order. Isaiah 59:8 says, The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.” Islam will only be emboldened by the unwise actions of the American leadership. Ezekiel 7:25 says, “Destruction comes; and they shall seek peace and there shall be none.”

The Middle East has always been Theocratic or Dictatorships or Socialistic. We are insisting on elections. Even Bush insisted on Palestinian elections in the past, which gave birth to Hamas in the Palestinian areas that caused nearly a civil war between Palestinian and Palestinian. Democracy in the Middle East is only used during the elections and is thrown out the window once someone is elected. Clinton, of course, insists that we need Democratic “reforms” and President Obama who is a “closet Socialist” insists that the Egyptians have a right to assembly, freedom of speech and Democracy…so on and so forth.

Yet, in all cases in the past, when we have Democratic elections, we have given birth to Tyrannies. Even in Algeria, which is next to Tunisia in 1991 they had elections in which the Islamist won and they had to dismantle the elections. The military had to intervene. Who was behind it? It was Socialists. The Socialists movements worked collectively an then Islam through El Baradei threw in the towel with the lot of Islamist. El Baradei held hands with the Muslim Brotherhood even prior to the Tunisian revolt when they ousted Zine El Abidine. And of course the situation in Tunisia needs to be addressed because in Tunisia you now have an open door for the Islamist. Rachid Ghannouchi who was exiled for 20 years in London, now is allowed to enter back into Tunisia. This is the same kind of thing that happened in Iran when the Shah ousted the Khomeni and then when the Shah was ousted, Khomeni went back to Iran to start a revolution. So, the Clinton and the Obama administration have been aiding the Islamic movement by stating that a Democracy is the solution. So, it is a problem. If the Palestinian election caused a civil war, it will also cause a civil war of a much larger scale in the country of Egypt.

@ hickoryrat, let it be done. No love lost here. Israel has no less right to defend herself than any other nation. If I recall corectly, Israel has kicked Irans ass before and then gave their concored land back to them. But that was another generation. How soon people forget.

Yes , you are right. At first I had a little hope that ElBaradei could help the situation in Egypt, but I was wrong about that. He is just a tool for the radicals. Pray for Israel.

As pointed out on a previous story’s posts, by “Roxxy” I beleive it was, Elbaradei and Soros are together on the board of the International Crisis Group, a virtual who’s-who of international Marxist/Sociaist/Communist leaders. If you have any doubts the type of Govt El Baradei wants for Egypt, look no further. Here is a blog I ran across that describes the people involved at ICG: http://a12iggymom.wordpress.com/2011/02/03/elbaradeis-i-c-g-board-colleagues-include-george-soros-thomas-r-pickering-cheryl-carolus-wesley-clark-and-many-more-marxists-communists-and-socialists-surprise/
