ElBaradei Tells ABC’s Amanpour: Muslim Brotherhood are ‘In No Way Extremists’

Echoing an idea he introduced to CNN’s Fareed Zakaria (seen on The Blaze earlier), Egypt’s Nobel laureate and self-appointed opposition leader Mohamed ElBaradei told ABC’s Christiane Amanpour the idea that the Muslim Brotherhood, which birthed the terror organization Hamas, is an extremist organization is “total bogus” and that the group is “in no way extremists” (interview starts at about 2:10 below):

    It is hard to say this….since I am so conservative and love the Constitution. But here it goes…Are you sitting down? Some people are just too IGNORANT to chose their own Government. They cry for “democracy” and then vote in Hamas because they throw them a piece of bread and a blanket. I believed the Iranian youth knew what they were doing when they were protesting, and felt sick when they did get their democracy (Obama’s fault) ….but the Egyptians??? They remind me too much of the people in the Gaza strip.

    Again why do you leave out the hate filled religion and yet slam Christians and Jews????

    I do it because I believe as a result of Israel and the incredibly deleterious and dangerous influence Jews have on our foreign policy today. Personally I despise Islam. It is a gutter religion at best but evenmore so I am extremely wary of Jewish influence in American politics and I am very aware of their use of propaganda.

    There is no way in hell that the Iraq invastion can now be justified! Although I bought into the propaganda way back I am ashamed of myself now.. Even Afghanistan, what the hell are we doing occupying that nation? It is disgusting!!! And now Jews in our State Dept are absolutely drooling all over themsleves as the prep the American people for a bombing of Iran through their incessant demonization of Islam and Iran. Once again I don’t care for Islam or Iran but I know propaganda when I see it!

    I followed a car last week and it had the symbols (the book with the swords) in its back window. It filled the entire rear window, very large. The tint was so dark I couldn’t see the occupants, not that it mattered, I didn’t really think much about it at the time. I didn’t know what it was or meant until I saw the Muslim Brotherhood flag on this site the other day. I was shocked; I have never seen anything like this in 60+ years. Does this mean we’re on the list of countries to be conquered? I guess it may be the ruling party in Egypt very soon, is that what we are waiting for? The radicals are now bold enough to display this brotherhood flag in this country, so what’s next? How is it that our brave young soldiers are dying overseas, fighting the same group of people who are over here spreading like wildfire in our own country? For the first time in history, we have a group that not only refuses to assimilate into our society, but also won’t allow their children to assimilate either, what does this tell you? They kill their own children when they Americanize and “shame the family” or heaven forbid, leave the religion. Religion of peace, are you kidding me? They could have stayed in their home countries, beat their wives and killed all their children if they wished, why do they come here? Why, why, why, isn’t that the question? Muslims can’t assimilate their religion won’t allow it, so why do they come here? It can’t work, so why do they come here? Does this make any sense at all; to anyone? This country will not survive if immigrants don’t assimilate; they have always assimilated, at least the children were allowed to, even if the parents or grandparents kept the old customs and language and it always worked out well.

    I have seen enough to know, in my lifetime, that in WWII people kept thinking that if they ignored the Nazi’s, they would eventually just go away. So good people did nothing and look what happened. The natural instinct is to ignore what’s going on, but history always repeats for those that ignore it. We must force our politicians to uphold the Constitution, the whole Constitution and force immigrants, legal and illegal, to either assimilate, give allegiance to our country and accept our culture or voluntarily return to their homeland and leave us our way of life. Do I expect this to happen? Not really, do you? Am I scared for our country? Absolutely.

      They‘ve been active since the 1920’s. The Muslim Brotherhood was founded in 1928 by Hasan al-Banna, a 22-year-old elementary school teacher, as an Islamic revivalist movement following the collapse of the Ottoman Empire and the subsequent ban of the caliphate system of government that had united the Muslims for hundreds of years. Al-Banna based his ideas that Islam was not only a religious observance, but a comprehensive way of life, on the tenets of Wahhabism, better known today as “Islamism”, and he supplemented the traditional Islamic education for the Society’s male students with jihadia training.

      The Brotherhood grew as a popular movement over the next 20 years, encompassing not only religion and education, but also politics, through the Party of the Muslim Brotherhood, Hizb Al-Ikhwan Al-Muslimoon. It blamed the Egyptian government for being passive against “Zionists” and joined the Palestinian side in the war against Israel; and started performing terrorist acts inside of Egypt, which led to a ban on the movement by the Egyptian government. A Muslim Brother assassinated the Prime Minister of Egypt, Mahmud Fahmi Nokrashi, on December 28, 1948. Al-Banna himself was killed by government agents in Cairo in February, 1949.

      The Egyptian government legalized the Brotherhood again in 1948, but only as a religious organization; it was banned again in 1954 because it insisted that Egypt be governed under shari’a (Islamic law).

      When I became a Christian, God gave me a perspective that I never had before. He gave me a big heart for Israel and the end-times. I know exactly what is going to happen. If anyone is curious about this, begin by reading the books of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and even Daniel. Then, read Revelation. It will then be clear to you. At least, I pray it is.

      Egyptian revolution has deep prophetic implications

      The man who stalled the world for nearly a decade from taking action against Iran’s nuclear program, former United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency chief Mahmoud El Baradei is leading the riots to overthrow the government of Egypt. He is supported by the banned terrorist group Muslim Brotherhood, who has instigated much of the unrest and is willing to work with El Baradei in forming a new government. Additionally, El Baradei is receiving political support from Iran where its state media is characterizing the uprising as a populist movement against Egypt’s alliance with the United States and its peace with Israel. Iran’s Ayatollah Khamenei said last year that he wants an Islamic government in Egypt.

      El Baradei’s true colors are being masked by the news media, which is portraying him and others supporting the Egyptian unrest as a move toward the utopian goal of “democracy’ in the Middle East. This unrest, however, could well be part of a centralized plan schemed by terrorists in Iran–one that has supported the fall of Lebanon into the hands of Hizbollah, the Tunisian unrest, the shift in Turkey toward stronger Islamist government, the unrest in Pakistan, and the hard line in the latest democracy of the Middle East–Iraq, where its Islamist Constitution is allowing the crackdown on Christians. The world may well be witnessing a wide-sweeping Islamic revolution that will change the face of the earth for the end times.

      Egypt is the subject of much of the Lord’s interaction with the prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel and even Daniel. There are 558 verses in the Bible mentioning Egypt. Many of them discuss the plight of the Israelites coming out of Egyptian slavery. And there are dire warnings to those Israelites that seek to return to Egypt. Daniel Chapter 11 speaks of the four kings of Persia–modern day Iran–and one of them, the King of the North after much struggle shall overcome the King of the South. From these battles will arise a powerful king as Daniel 11:37 says, “Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.”

      Irrespective of who the theologians of this day identify as this king, the kings of the north and the south will come against him “at the time of the end.” Verse 42 says, “He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape.” The unrest in Egypt at the same time as that in Lebanon, Tunisia, Pakistan, Yeman, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Jordan has end time implications. The King of Persia, which today is the Ayatollah in Iran, is making a move. The prophetic change that appears to be occurring is that the world’s harshest enemy of Israel, which is Islam, is rising up and even the United States, Israel’s ally, is supporting this movement, which is far deeper than the 1979 Iranian revolution…

      Techengineer11: The rebirth of Israel was done by the western democracies after WWII. It is a very small state, surrounded by a lot of enemies. While not perfect, they are our best friend in the middle east. They also have learned the hard way that submission is death. Period.

      DEMOCRATGIRL, great post. At first I thought ElBaradei was part of the solution, but now it is apparent that he is just a puppet of the extremists. The Muslim Brotherhood has many factions, some more radical than others, but it was the M B that killed Sadat, formed Hammas, possibly killed the Coptic Christians a few weeks ago, and Bin Ladins’ right hand man came from the M B. They certainly have links to terrorism. The glimmer of hope is that they are a minority in Egypt. Israel is very concerned as the peace with Egypt is in the balance, but if there is another war, Israel will not lose. What will happen next is anyones guess, but one thing is for sure, we live in very interesting times. Pray for Israel.

      Talk about a serious problem picking a side…

      On one hand, you have a repressive regime, on the other, Marxist terrorists. This, ladies and gents, is why the Founders would have wanted us to stay clear of the whole mess.
