Election Watchdog: 160 Counties Have More Registered Voters Than are Actually Eligible to Vote

True the Vote 160 counties more than 100 percent voter registration

AP

A nonpartisan election integrity group has sent legal notices to 160 counties across the U.S. that it says have more voters on its registration rolls than actual live, eligible voters — and thus represent potential hotbeds for election fraud, the organization told TheBlaze exclusively.

The Houston-based True the Vote said the counties may be in violation of Section 8 of the National Voter Registration Act, which mandates that election officials maintain clean voter rolls by removing people who have died, moved away or are no longer eligible to vote. True the Vote is demanding each of the counties show proof of compliance or they’ll bring civil suit.

The counties in question are spread across 19 states that together account for 203 electoral college votes, including six current battleground states. Among the counties are LaSalle, Ill., which True the Vote identified as having 520 percent voter registration; Jefferson, Miss. with more than 230 percent; and Hanson, S.D. with 165 percent.

The Houston-based True the Vote said it has identified 160 counties across 19 states with more registered voters on their rolls than eligible live voters. This chart highlights the 19 states and how they voted in the 2008 election. (Image source: True the Vote)

“It’s simply unacceptable for any county to have more voters on its rolls than people who are alive and eligible to vote,” True the Vote President Catherine Engelbrecht said in a statement. “Failing to maintain accurate voter registration records is a flagrant violation of Section 8 in the NVRA.”

True the Vote identified the county irregularities by matching 2010 Census data to publicly available information from the bipartisan Election Assistance Commission.

“We are deeply concerned by our discovery of voter rolls across America that contain substantial numbers of ineligible voters, possibly resulting in the disenfranchisement of eligible voters and the subversion of our nation’s electoral process,” the letters to the counties state.

True the Vote spokesman Logan Churchwell told TheBlaze the notices were sent last week. He said True the Vote expects the counties to take proper action to clean their voter rolls well before Election Day in November.

“We don’t expect these to go ignored,”  Churchwell said.

True the Vote filed a joint lawsuit against the state of Indiana with the conservative foundation Judicial Watch in June, alleging similar violations of the National Voter Registration Act.

In all fairness there were 80 counties in 12 red states and 123 in 7 blue states who had excess registration so it appears there are problems on both sides; therefore there are only 43 more counties in Democratic states than in Republican states. Keep this in mind . . . this is only the ones they found!!!!!

One has to wonder WHY this is happening when we pay our elected officials a fair amount of money to do their jobs!!! It appears to me that there is a significant problem in TOO MANY states where people are allowed to vote who should no longer be registered. For those on this post who are so quick to point out that this involves Republicans, too, just remember it is NOT the Republicans who said there is NO VOTER FRAUD in this country . . . . no sir, it was the Democrats!!!

I realize that the way of politics in Lincolnland isn’t the same as anywhere else in the country, but as Rev. Wright would say, “Your chickens WILL come home to roost!!!” If ALL are forced to play by the rules, can you accept who the winner will be? We can . . . may the best candidate win!!!

Why do people assume that if it’s a red state, the illegal votes must be Republican? Over 96% of all illegal registered voters have historically been shown to be voting Democrat no matter which state they live in. And ONLY the DNC is against verifying voter ID. The only question really is… why? In fact it seems very logical that these red states are areas they’d target since blue states are already theirs and packing more dead people in would only have the effect of padding the counts.

November’s election is going to be scary. Last week here in Memphis, the election commission couldn’t even get the proper ballots on the machines in a piddly local election! Some of us were re-districted and we didn’t get any kind of gov. notification as to what district we were changed to, (the interactive gov. website was never updated), we had to assume that the candidates flyers in the mail were correct when THEY said we were in their district; therefore, how were we supposed to know if we even received the correct ballot in the voting booth, much less know in advance who to vote for??? I’m beginning to think that the gov. WANTS us to be stupid, ignorant voters!

Another complaint that I have is that when we are supposed to elect judges they never say what party they belong to. We all know that we have activist judges out there, therefore, don’t we have a RIGHT to know which party they belong? We know that the politically correct b.s. that judges are supposed to be “non-partisan” is simply that – b.s.

    Thanks for letting me vent.

As helpful as that is, there are very few clues as to what a judge is all about. The only criterion I’ve been able to develop there is by which Governor appointed them and whether they are endorsed and what the reputation of that endorsor is. I know if its an endorsement from any of the major newspapers in the state, the women’s lawyer association, or our current Governor, then these are the last people to receive my vote.

It is ridiculous that we are forced to vote for people who have such a big impact on our daily lives without any information about what they stand for or if they will put criminals back out into our neighborhoods and rule on liberal politics.

In Arizona lawyers, plaintiffs and defendants are randomly given a survey after attending court. They each rate the judges on things like knoweldge, respect given. equality for all parties to be heard and so on. Those are tallied and published. It helps somewhat.
Because I was a paralegal prior to retirement if I don’t know or know of a judge I Google the name with the city & state. That way I can check out their record and any diciplinarry action that might have been taken. It‘s a bit overboard but I’ve seen some judges who shouldn’t even be allowed in the courtroom.

City Police Chief = Appointed. County Sheriff = Elected by the People / Constitutional Officer. Democrats don’t need to vote dead people, pets, or fictional characters any longer. They just do like they did with Al Franken and bring in fraudulent votes and say they forgot to count them. It also helps if you have the local judge on the democrats payroll to allow those fraudulent votes to be counted.
When LBJ was stealing the election in Texas, padding the polls with thousands of dead or non-existing people was the best way for the democratic party to stay in power and rule the people… now that is soooo 1950s stuff. Welcome to the 21st century where the democrats have high tech ways of stealing the vote.

In the case of the one county in Illinois at 400%+ over registration does not happen in a 4 year term, for example.

I read alot on blogs about voter fraud. I suggest we work the polls as observers or clerks. I have worked the polls since the New Black Panther voter intimidation went unpunished. The only hint at fraud I have seen in 2 primaries and a general is 1 instance where the voter didn’t speak english. They were on the register and it didn’t indicate ID required. It is a 15 hour day and comes out to about 7 bucks an hour but makes me feel that the system still works. I follow the ballots to the drop spot so if fraud occurs it is at the registrars office. I’m sure there are other ways to beat the system with absentee ballots and vote by mail but at least we can keep an eye on the polling stations.

I am a poll worker in PA. This year the Commonwealth passed a voter ID law and voters became aware that they would need to present a photo ID in order to vote in November. The primary election was used as a sort of dry-run for the fall election. Most voters showed an appropriate ID without even being asked. Only three individuals complained about it and they were all Democrats. It is not difficult to get the necessary ID in Pennsylvania and there is no legititmate reason to object to having to present identification at the polls. Nobody will be denied their right to vote and fraud can be prevented.

This is something the democrats have been working toward since Mr. Reagan beatCarter in 1980. Like true socialist liberals they plan for the future in this case their 50 year plan to dominate this country and rule like kings for a thousand years. Sounds like something that was tried back in the 1930‘s and 40’s.

In Mississippi, our last Democrat Governor won the election by fewer votes than the number of votes he got in home county more than were registered to vote there. Won the election by 200 ish votes, when 700 more people in his home county voted for him than were registered to vote in the county, 170% voter turnout, amazing.

I want you to understand that is not voter fraud! Why because a
      Dem judge said so!
And it is not fraud to find ballots in the trunk of a car that puts a dem in.
Stop your crying you have no idea what your talking about.

Dems always complain about Voter turnout. This is their way to make up for the past low voter turnout.

It was so funny/sad, on Tuesday morning, the paper, printed a map of the state on the front page, with registered voters listed in each county. The next day, they printed the same map with votes each candidate got, the dem’s home county had 170% voter turn out, and nobody at all even questioned it.
