Elizabeth Edwards’ Health Takes Turn for the Worse

Elizabeth Edwards, the estranged wife of former Democratic Senator and presidential candidate John Edwards, is reportedly saying her “goodbyes” after receiving a devastating diagnosis from doctors about her struggle with cancer. According to a statement from the Edwards family, doctors advised her that “further treatment of her cancer would be unproductive.”

On Monday, Edwards, 61, took to her personal Facebook page to post a message to friends which seemed to suggest she has just days to live. “The days of our lives, for all of us, are numbered,” she wrote. “We know that.”

She was hospitalized last week and the entire Edwards family — including John — are now gathered with Elizabeth at the family home in Chapel Hill, N.C.

“You all know that I have been sustained throughout my life by three saving graces – my family, my friends, and a faith in the power of resilience and hope,” Edwards wrote in the Facebook post. “These graces have carried me through difficult times and they have brought more joy to the good times than I ever could have imagined.”

“…there are certainly times when we aren’t able to muster as much strength and patience as we would like,” she added. “It’s called being human. But I have found that in the simple act of living with hope, and in the daily effort to have a positive impact in the world, the days I do have are made all the more meaningful and precious. And for that I am grateful. It isn’t possible to put into words the love and gratitude I feel to everyone who has and continues to support and inspire me every day. To you I simply say: you know.”

Edwards has been battling breast cancer since her initial diagnosis in 2004. In 2007, she revealed that the condition had spread to her bones and had been deemed terminal. The cancer has reportedly metastasized to her liver.

Cancer, that is a difficult subject to talk about. I had it 10 years ago, and while the cancer was caught in stage two, it was the treatment at tried to kill me. If it was for a mistake with my chemo treatments and only get 1/4 dose than what was the norm. I would have died 10 years ago. I also have been a CNA for hospice patients and help comfort them as they went thorugh the dying process. So this story brings back a lot of memories and reminds me of my own faith that I right now have eternal life through Christ, this body doesn’t, but I do. I hope and pray that Edwards does or will have. No has an excuse to go to hell, just reasons why they don’t believe in the only savior we all have. I pray that all will go well until the end of this life with her and that she may have great peace and comfort thorugh it all.

Dear Elizabeth, now that your end is seemingly near,I would like to offer you the realisation that it can be the very beginning of the most Wonderful existence you ever dreamed of.No mansion you have ever lived in on this earth ,can compare with what God said he is preparing.Eye hath not seen, ear hath not heard, neither has it entered into the heart of man the things that God hath prepared for those that love him.GOD IS LOVE..H e loves us so much!Don’t place your trust inthe power of resilience and hope. There is no power for salvation to be found in either of those places. In the hour of death, the only place to place your faith is in the BIRTH,DEATH,and RESSURECTION of JESUS CHRIST,who gave his life so we can be forgiven and fall to sleep,to wake in Gods new heaven! Believe, Elizabeth,if you don’t already. If we confess our sin,he is faithful and just to forgive us our sin and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.REAL LIFE for you,can just be beginning.Forgive all the wrong thats been done to you.Soon it won’t matter anymore, anyway.Let it all go,and rest in the wonderful arms of Jesus!…..Jesus,you are SO beautiful and kind and Lovely,We weep ,and bow at your feet in worship to you for your great Love and Mercy toward us,your created beings. We Love You, Lord!

Have heard stories from those that knew the Edwards’ during their days in Nashville and this lady was no saint. I realize the sympathy comes out in times like this but I have a problem with making martyrs out of people. Yeah, she didn’t deserve a complete TOOL of a husband and what he did, yet let’s not forget that she was willing to play along if it could get her own self in the White House… among other things.

These people live their lives not hesitating to run over others and manipulating to their own advantage and lust for “power”. Be honest, if you consider John a fake, then you gotta spread the labeling around. These two put the “fun” in dysfunction and unfortunately there will be three children forever scared by such selfish nonsense.
I do hope she has found peace and that God blesses her in these days. To want to label someone as a saint because they are dieing somehow just doesn’t seem right or honest… no matter what one’s beliefs are.

Stories are just that, stories. Without proof of what your accusations you haven’t a leg to stand on. Go ahead and type the proof here. If it’s false she or her dependents can sue you. If you have the guts print your proof here and they can use your IP address to track you down. Don’t come off as an “I know the dirt” type when you cannot even serve up the data to back your words up.

She has my prayers and I pray her going is peaceful. I feel for the children. Sounds like her ex may be going to prison if they find him guilty of misusing campaign funds to pay off his bimbo lady. I have no sympathy for him. I do for Elizabeth and her children. All the sorrow this man caused to his family. If he goes to prison, he will have some time to think on what he did.

Why do you agree with snow? Is she Christian? If not, why would God‘s grace be with her now if she’s rejected Him her whole life? God resists the proud, gives grace to the humble. My prayer is people are humble enough after an ordeal like that to find grace. If she is Christian, His grace will be there.
