Elizabeth Warren Clarifies Statement Where She Appeared to Take Credit for Starting Occupy Wall Street

Elizabeth Warren Clarifies Earlier Wall St. Statements“I created much of the intellectual foundation for what they do,” Elizabeth Warren said in a Daily Beast interview published Oct. 24. With this statement many were lead to believe that Warren was taking some sort of credit for starting the Occupy movement.

“I support what they do,” she added.

Since her initial claim, the Huffington Post has reported that The National Republican Senatorial Committee “pounced” on Warren’s comments, pointing out that her support was “notable“ since ”Boston Police Department was recently forced to arrest at least 141 of her Occupy acolytes in Boston the other day after they threatened to tie up traffic downtown and refused to abide by their protest permit limits.”

That might not sit well with voters in Massachusetts, however, where Warren is currently engaged in a tight race with Sen. Scott Brown.

In an interview Tuesday with a local reporter published in Mother Jones, Warren clarified her statements:

Alright, it is a grassroots movement and I am very pleased that they took responsibility for their movement and they are growing it the way they want to grow it.

I’m gonna have to actually go back and read what I said. I had a long conversation with someone about the Occupy Wall Street movement.

I said, I think, I’ve been protesting Wall Street for a very long time. And that I understand the frustration, I share their frustration, with what’s going, that right now Washington is wired to work well for those on Wall Street who can hire lobbyists and lawyers and it doesn’t work very well for the rest of us.

That‘s what I’m talking about, that‘s why I’m running for office, and that’s it.

Responding to queries about the The National Republican Senatorial Committee’s charges against her, Warren said:

I have been protesting Wall Street for a very long time. Occupy Wall Street is an organic movement, it expresses enormous frustration and gives a great faith all across the country for people to talk about what’s broken.

So I am glad that that conversation is going forward and that it’s going forward in an organic way.

As the HuffPo points out, her “intellectual foundation” comments are actually very similar to other statements Warren made about the Occupy Wherever earlier this month:

“Everyone has to follow the law, that has to be the starting place,” she said. “But no one understands better what the frustration is right now. The people on Wall Street broke this country.”

    Only a looney Lefty would want to take “credit” for this mess. ( I love the way the Affordable Housing Act by Clinton mushroomed into the “no money down/ no job/ no credit history / discrimination of the poor” fiasco which blew up the housing/ banking factors. And then the Left used this to blame the banks ! These guys are Master Manipulators of the Masses and the Media ! ) If she had an ounce of sense, which isn’t usually the case with the arrogant elitists, she would be holding her tongue and hiding out !

    Greed and Socialism are the virus’s that has attacked this Nation. Most American citizens have been working for the last 46 years and longer, to support themselves and their families. Now, due to you and others like you who want to continue down the same road with your give away policies and big government, the American Families that were supporting the system actually have time to evaluate what Greed and Progressive Socialists have actually done to our nation. Guess what, we’re not happy! Major changes in 2012 and hopefully you won’t be a part of it.

    She is bright, articulate, and very focused, and it would be a mistake to underestimate her. She is going to to appeal to the “big government” types who are looking for that proverbial “free lunch”. Liberals can’t stand making people responsible for their own actions, and unfortuately half the population pays all the cost of government – the other half will never vote for anyone who wants them to actually contribute anything. Warren is just another liberal, but those Massholes who pay no taxes, will vote for her in lock step, in order to keep their food stamps, bloated social programs, and welfare checks… who needs a job? You only need Uncle Sugar – or in this case Elizabeth Warren. Wake up people. Just look where we are headed!

      BROPER, Warren bright, articulate and focused. I’ll give her focused, but on the wrong agenda and policies. Will not concede bright! Bright means you have an understanding of truth and reality and wisdom and knowledge to expound upon it and support it with further truth. She is a deceiver who knows not the truth, but expresses and propounds the lies of the liberal left, which has as its’ core objective the literal destruction of this still great nation, despite all its flaws.
      She can only articulate the preprogrammed deceptions and lies that she herself has been indoctrinated into, and it is quite obvious that anyone with a genuine high school education can see through her chicanery. She needs to be confronted head on with who and what she is and the destructive measures and policies that she promotes.

Concerning illegal aliens and prisoners and children as well as the new Sex Education line up for Spring time in NYC. I am convinced that the blogger is right when they say that we can no longer merely call ourselves Christians and then sit idly by watching as our society crumbles around us. We must become more Christ-like, and turn our hands to doing the hard work that we long for others to do instead….

    When I saw her on The Blaze awhile back giving her rant about how wonderful the Govn’t was – made me sick. Rush said that her rant would be great to give ppl to explain how liberals think. He thought it really depicted it well. And it’s pure nonsense and so “nonthinking”, so irrational, besides the lies. It’s beyond me how ppl can actually believe this garbage.
