Elizabeth Warren Passed Over For Head of Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

Elizabeth Warren Passed Over For Head of Consumer Financial Protection BureauThe White House confirmed Sunday that former Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray will be nominated by President Obama to head the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. In doing so Obama passes over Harvard Professor Elizabeth Warren, the outspoken consumer advocate, Wall Street critic and White House special advisor responsible for developing the new agency. The President spoke of his nominee Cordray in a recent statement:

“Richard Cordray has spent his career advocating for middle class families, from his tenure as Ohio’s Attorney General, to his most recent role as heading up the enforcement division at the CFPB and looking out for ordinary people in our financial system,”

Many liberals had hoped that the President would select Warren to head the CFPB, despite their belief that Republicans would adamantly oppose Warren’s appointment. Democratic Ranking Member of the House Financial Services Committee Rep. Barney Frank told Reuters:

“I have strongly supported Elizabeth Warren and she would be my first choice for the position. I regret that she has fallen victim to such wholly unjustified political attacks. The President has made the second best appointment possible.”

Sen. Charles Schumer said to PolitickerNY that in passing over Warren; “the President was just facing reality when he said that he couldn’t nominate her because she never would have been approved.”

Elizabeth Warren Passed Over For Head of Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

The appointment requires Senate confirmation to put Cordray at the head of a new federal agency that aims to restrict unfair, deceptive or abusive credit practices, promote financial education, and investigate consumer complaints. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell recently reiterated the sentiment expressed by 44 Republican senators in May, who announced they would not vote to approve any candidate to run the bureau without changes to the agency’s structure.

An event at the White House is planned for Monday where Obama will discuss his pick.

The Wall Street Journal reported Sunday that those who know Warren say she wanted the director post. PolitickerNY has suggested that Warren “is said to be interested in running against Massachusetts Republican Scott Brown.”

Elizabeth Warren blew herself up like an incompetent jihadist right in front of the House sub-committee and on tape for everyone in America to see. Her incredible arrogance and her claim that she had to leave for an important meeting(!) confirmed the worst fears people have about creepy control freaks who want to “protect” other people, including those who have not requested and do not desire such “protection.”

The only protection Americans need is from people like this and a government that empowers them to meddle in the affairs of others. It is an insult to suggest that Americans cannot take care of their own finances without the help of do-gooders like Elizabeth Warren & Co.

Applicants for government jobs come and go, but the bureaucracy is immortal. Now we have still another one to have to pay for and guard against. It will expand like a rapidly growing tumor and consume scarce resources just like all the rest. And nothing anybody can do or say will be able to terminate or even restrain it.

Way to go. Just what we need right now: a whole new Federal bureaucracy to protect us from ourselves.

I agree, federal government and it’s bureaucracy has encroached way too far into the private lives of US Citizens. The bureaucracy is like a self fufilling job protection facility, once it starts there is no end to what these publicly funded unionistas will do to keep their jobs. Just ask yourself this question; “what has the government done for you individually lately?” Name a few, then ask yourself how you individually have been harmed?” Think about it folks, the fed taxes and collects your taxes, then redistributes your tax dollars and you have no real say where and how it is spent. The appropriators in the House and Senate make that decision for you to and encluding those hatefull “Earmarks.”. I’m not against a federal government at all, rather just believe it needs to be much smaller and start fullfing it’s proper statutory obligations as delineated by the Founding Fathers as prescribed by The US Constitution. Ever wonder why the political lawmakers are forever trying to re-interprate The US Constitution to fit their narrow constituency purposes (pressure groups) and/or their own views of what is Constitutionally proper or not?

It’s always the same idiots. Where are the people that have succeeded in the public domain? The vacant slots just get filled with people from other slots. As for searching for leaders in the field of expertise, it’s just about moving from slot to slot. Obama is a nut case. As an example, a teacher that was profiled on a TV program years ago had her students reading the classics and were excelling in all grades. Why didn’t the government recruit her to head the school program? It‘s because she wasn’t a member of the established elite. Being an expert don’t mean crap in government. Why should they be PAID more than the people paying their salary. Another way to put it how does General Electric C.E.O. Jeffrey R. Immelt pay his janitor a bigger paycheck than himself…… ooops sorry I think the janitor does makes more since he probably paid taxes and Jeff didn’t pay anything so I guess he just works out of the kindness of his HEART……ahhh how sweet

Okay, so now that Obama has created a new fiefdom, he has to have a czar to run it. The question at this time of “Budget Crisis” should not be who will run a new agency, but whether we should be adding the cost of a new agency to the already busted budget in the first place. Don’t we already have a Treasury Department, a Department of Commerce, Department of Justice, FBI, Federal Financial Institutions Examinations Council, Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service, Federal Trade Commission, Federal Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission, Financial Management Service, and hundreds of other federal, state and local department, agencies, commissions, boards and etc., that could already do the job and already waste enough taxpayer money? The best phrase that appears in the Constitution, and it appears frequently, is “Congress shall make no law….” As Henry David Thoreau wrote in his book, Civil Disobedience, “That government is best which governs least.” Don’t appoint anyone to run this new boondoggle, scrap the whole idea and return to the principle of Subsidiarity which governs our Constitution and our American culture.
