Elizabeth Warren Says She Registered as Part Native American for the ‘Luncheons’

Massachusetts’ presumptive Democratic nominee for Senate, Elizabeth Warren, provides perhaps the purest example of an Occupy-style politician currently available on the scene. Having been one of the most vigorous promoters of higher taxes on the rich, and having sprung fresh from a career as a Harvard academic into being a Government bureaucrat, Warren is what many progressives think the American Dream looks like.

And the fact that she’s part Native American only adds to the inspirational–wait, what?

Okay, so she really, really doesn’t look the part of someone with tribal heritage. Which has some commentators wondering whether the lily white Warren used her supposed Native American ancestry (she claims to be part Cherokee) as a technicality to improve her capacity to get career advancement.

Warren, of course, denies doing any such thing. She apparently believes being 1/32 Cherokee is still good enough to merit minority status. Not only that, but according to her, the reason she registered as a minority was specifically to meet other people “like her.” The Weekly Standard brings us her explanation:

Democratic Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren, fending off questions about whether she used her Native American heritage to advance her career, said today she enrolled herself as a minority in law school directories for nearly a decade because she hoped to meet other people with tribal roots.

“I listed myself in the directory in the hopes that it might mean that I would be invited to a luncheon, a group something that might happen with people who are like I am. Nothing like that ever happened, that was clearly not the use for it and so I stopped checking it off,” said Warren.

Without passing judgment on Warren’s stated motivation, one imagines those luncheons would have probably been fairly awkward. Presumably, most of the people attending would have been more than 1/32 Native American.

      It must be nice for the intellectually and professionally challenged to write critical reports and comments on such important issues. If she is 1/32 Indian than that is what she is. Focus on and write something useful. Warren no doubt would respond with a chuckle and look commensurate with how sad you are.

      Apparently JROOK….you don’t believe that her willingness to mislead others is an issue that needs to be reported. For your information, investigators have determined that her great grandfather WAS NOT native american. She’s been lying to you JROOK…but by all means..encourage others to vote for her nonetheless.

      So the follow up on Drudge is her grandfather had high cheek bones so that’s what makes her part Indian. Genealogists are unable to verify her claims and there is no supporting evidence to support her claim. Yep, certainly no lying going on here!!

      If she really has a role number she needs to move to Oklahoma. Of course nearly everyone has a GGG Grandmother that was a Cherokee Princess. The Cherokees didn’t have a princess. In Oklahoma she would have to pay $21.00 a month on a $150,000.00 home and only for 20 years and you get a clear title. She learned from Ted Kennedy to wisper nothings in the voters ears while you have them bent over the barrel. The folks in Massachusetts after 50 years are used to it and will continue untill the state goes bankrupt.

      Warren is part Native American. That is not the point. She is 1/32nd Native American.

      As far as how difficult her life is per liberal religious theology, her life is not difficult at all since she is 31/32nd white.

    Well that clears up a lot. I thought I was just white, but in reality I’m 1/8 Cherokee. So I guess I need a gov’t check and no long can be called a racist gender oppressor.

      The thing I love most about socialists is they don’t want ANYONE to discriminate against another person based on skin color or race or creed. But THEY are the first ones to point out how different they are from “white people”. This woman is more white than I am, and I am 100% Caucasian. I guess I just wouldn’t understand the trials and tribulations someone of her ethnicity goes through on a daily basis. The discrimination she goes through must be hell.

      In traditional language there isn’t a word for whore. This was a word brought in by visitors (pilgrims). When Europeans came they used the word squaw, but in our language this is wrong. Squaw is “all that is woman” as women are very important in traditional beliefs. Depending on how the word is used, such as in my name. And a blood quantum of 1/32 means nothing to a traditional, you are either red or you are not. Blood quantum was a white government measurement to how “civilized” we became. If one still wore buckskins, spoke only their language, practiced the traditions, etc, they were “full blood”.

    So since I have about 1/32 % of French Canadian Indian in me does that mean I can be a minority too? Wow I never knew, my grandfather must be rolling in his grave because he gave my grandmother such a hard time for being French Canadian Indian (he used a more vulger term – French N….. I won’t use that word so use your imagination). Now I find out I could be able to use the minority status…. Without sarcasm though, is this woman NUTS????

    I am 1/8 Blackfeet American Indian on my father’s side. Could have used it dozens of times as could my brother. We never did. Since neither of us have never really followed the culture (though we were taught some of it) it would be dishonest to take advantage of that. Shame on Ms Warren!
