Embarrassing? Your Web Comments Could End Up in a Google Search

Many websites engage their followers by allowing comments, which can be run through third parties like Facebook Comments, Disqus and Intense Debate, according to Digital Inspiration. These comments previously may have been relatively unnoticed except for maybe by the commenting community and the comment moderator. Not anymore. Now they’re being picked up in Google searches.

As Digital Inspiration points out, this means that these sites could get a sort of “SEO boost” from their comments. SEO stands for search engine optimization, which is usually a set of terms that helps improve the visibility of a website in a search.

But as I’m sure you can image, and as Gawker points out, this also opens the door for embarrassing and even mean comments on the Internet to arise in someone’s Google search.

The comment Digital Inspiration uses, although not embarrassing, does illustrate how this could happen. See below for the commenter’s opinion voiced via Facebook Comments on TechCrunch and then how it was found in a Google search.

Google Begins Indexing Comments From Websites | Showing Up in Google Searches

This comment was on a TechCrunch story. (Image via Digital Inspiration)

Google Begins Indexing Comments From Websites | Showing Up in Google Searches

This shows the comment found through a Google search. (Image via Digital Inspiration)

Why is this happening? According to Digital Inspiration, these comments are usually not picked up by search engines because they’re in JavaScript within an iframe code, but “Googlebots” now seem to be scanning this content too.

If you haven’t made any uncouth comments using comment boxes like this, you should have nothing to worry about. But if you have…

Big GOV. at work. But they really want is to get rid of YOUR WEB COMMENTS. They do not want you to have FREEDOM OF SPEECH. Even CONSERVATIVE TALKERS, LIKE RUSH AND MARK LEVINE, CANNOT SAY SOMETHINGS THAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO SAY. PC and legal restraints even extend to them. BUT HERE YOU GET A LOT OF RAW TRUTH. THE ENEMY OF BIG GOV. IS THE TRUTH. It is going to burn them down BIG TIME. It is just not certain WHEN.

Right now I’m looking at an ad for “Cleveland Bartending School” just because the stupid Blaze.com and Google knows I’m in Cleveland based on my IP address.

Straight up intrusion. Luckily, I have this old HTML textbook that the Feds tried to burn and was subsequently recovered for me by a friend who works in garbage disposal.

FYI there is nothing in technology that isn‘t a ’list’. Everything, from the first input to the last output, all of it, can be considered a list. And each and every input (keystroke) can (and may well be) recorded, some where for some period of time. Government wanted a massive data base of “citizen” stuff, well, now it has one. And all of it has been voluntarily entered.

If you don’t want it getting out, stay anonymous or DON’T POST IT! It doesn’t matter if you use google or not, it’s still crawling the web for information and storing it. That is how all search engines work!

Everyone should think wisely before they comment on the internet. I’ve never had family or coworkers in my FB profile, because it was never intended for that, just for joking with my real and best friends from my childhood. Third, I’ve never, ever given my personal info in any web site, including Hotmail. Fourth, they will know what my dog thinks (Me), and what he stands for (Me again). Finally and hopefully I’ll be able to be in front of God saying that I’ve always tried to be honest with my opinions, even when my dog was taking the heat with his picture.

No, we all have serious privacy concerns these days, and if you are concern about it you are not brave, you are reckless and a moron. I have those concerns too but I also have an extra motivation to be very careful: Some years ago (7) I was victim of identity theft. It’s not a pleasant experience, so I encourage all readers to take seriously these things. I paid off the loans of the thugs (Lucky it wasn’t too much, just about $1.500, and was easier this way), and it took me some time to put my things in order again. Today, I don’t know where they got all the info about me, and when I say “info”, I mean EVERYTHING; they knew even my family´s names, addresses, ID’s, real state info, etc.

I’m pretty sure Internet wasn’t the source of information, and we all have privacy concerns these days, but please, as a victim, I ask you all to be careful, because there are a lot of different dangers out there in the web. Putting an example on a different issue, don’t share pictures of your children in FB.

      @ c h

Obama’s birth certificate alleges “where” he was born and his parent’s citizenship “when” he was born. Now these equally vital “facts” can’t be altered or hidden! Unless fake, his Kenyan father inescapably precludes eligibility as a natural born citizen by not being born within US jurisdiction to TWO US citizen parents.

Candidates for President, each having “legal standing” are obligated to sue Obama and the DNC for fraud and failure to qualify as a natural born citizen, or be dismissed as untrustworthy!

Constitution, Art. 2, Sec. 1, “No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible … .”

Exempting a “citizen” from being a “natural born citizen” proves they aren’t equal, or no exemption was needed. Being not less than nor equal, a NBC must be more than the minimum requisite for citizenship then, which was US birth to a US citizen parent. Only US birth to US citizen parents (plural) is greater, thus defining a natural born citizen.

The Supreme Court agreed in Minor v. Happersett, 1874. “The Court held that Minor was a member of the “class” of persons who were natural born citizens. They defined this class as those born in the US to “parents” (plural) who were citizens.” Leo Donofrio, JD.

      @ c h

Obama’s birth certificate contains many anomalies justifying further investigation by law enforcement, as does his social security number. Both are alleged to be fraudulent by numerous experts. However even if the alleged fraud had gone unnoticed and it’s assumed he was born in HI, Obama is still not Constitutionally eligible.

Article 2, Section 1, requires the President to be a natural born citizen. This involves two equally important prerequisites. The first is being born in the USA or sovereign US jurisdiction. The second is being born to US citizen parents (plural). Both prerequisites must be satisfied. Obama absolutely failed to meet one prerequisite at birth and maybe both! He does not have TWO US citizen parents. Therefore he is not eligible.

You will find well researched and properly referenced explanations of both prerequisites at http://www.obamabirthcertificate.net along with links to the source material, should you wish to confirm the content in the context of correct history. As for the fraud, links to archived reports detailing the anomalies are also provided.

Patriots love the truth! But be forewarned, others avoid or avidly disavow it. Unfortunately self imposed ignorance seldom dissuades deceitful political pontificating, no matter how subversive.

Far from being well researched and properly referenced, the nonsense on your website is just a mass of circular reasoning that never addresses the essential questions. On what law, court decision or other authoritative source do you base the belief that natural born citizen is not synonymous with citizen by birth? What authority has ever endorsed the belief that the term natural born citizen excludes citizens other than naturalized citizens born in other countries? What law court decision or other authoritative source after 1898 when the Supreme Court addressed the issue of citizenship by birth has ever held that anyone born in this country is not a natural born citizen? What source do you have for the belief that being the child of two citizens is a requirement for establishing natural born citizenship other than your deliberate misinterpretation of an irrelevant Supreme Court decision that both predates their 1898 ruling, and specifically says that it is not setting a precedent or establishing a complete and exclusive definition of natural born citizenship?

      @ch

You poor little lost troll, you just want to be special don’t you? What you need is a motto! This one suits you. “The Constitution, don’t examine it too closely.” Here’s another. “This is my word, and as such is beyond contestation.” Get a clue troll. Noooooobody cares about your habitually lying immature opinion.

Some people avoid or avidly disavow the truth. Unfortunately self imposed ignorance seldom dissuades deceitful political pontificating, no matter how subversive. Apparently you’re their poster child.

You have been weighed, you have been measured, and you have been found wanting. In what world could you possibly justify such deceit? Begone, foul Obot. Your very name screams ignorance and treason.

I want people to examine the Constitution, that’s the only way they will know that nothing in it supports your claims about what it means. You should get a motto of your own, like “The Constitution, I’ll tell you what it should say,” or “This is my word, petition your local sheriff to enforce it instead of the actual law.”
