UNION TOWNSHIP, N.J. (The Blaze/AP) — The husband of an embattled, New Jersey high school teacher accused of posting anti-gay messages on her Facebook page is defending his wife’s comments.
Gene Knox told WCBS-TV in New York that “everybody’s entitled to an opinion.” He also told the station: “They can persecute her but they can’t prosecute her.”
As The Blaze reported on Tuesday, his wife, Viki Knox, is a Christian who holds views on gays that relate to her personal faith. The comments she posted clearly indicated this, as they focused upon her view that homosexuality as a sin. Below, see the WCBS interview for yourself:
The Union Township school district is investigating whether Knox violated school policies when she allegedly posted remarks saying homosexuality is a sin that “breeds like cancer” and describing it as “perverted.” It was reported that she also wrote:
“Union is not South Orange/Maplewood where one out of four families consist of two Mommies or daddies… Why parade your unnatural immoral behaviors before the rest of us? I/we do not have to accept anything, anyone, any behavior or any choices! I do not have to tolerate anything others wish to do.”
Her comments were made on the social media platform in response to a display the school had put up, which celebrates celebrating gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender history month.
Knox sat by her husband’s side during the TV interview. The station says she had been advised not to comment herself and has retained an attorney through her union.
Hundreds turned out at a school board meeting Tuesday to either denounce or defend Knox. The issue has grown exponentially, with gay rights activists and religious freedom advocates speaking up to take sides on the matter.

I can live peacefully with gays, but I have my own opinion, and I disagree with them 100%, and I will say it always. It’s up to them what they do, and between them and the Lord. I don’t judge them as Jesus requested us to do, but I can say that their way of life is wrong according to the Bible, and that I don’t like it. We can say whatever we want to. We don’t have to celebrate them, and this doesn’t mean we are homophobic. We are not obligated to like it!
The Bible says that to love is to obey the commandments of The Lord. So, if you treat them with justice and respect, you love them. But you don´t have to agree with them, nor celebrate their behavior.

Posted on October 19, 2011 at 8:01pmMOTONUTT: There’s a reason for things like gay month or whatever they call it. It’s because for years gay kids were getting the crap beaten out of them, they were committing suicide (still are), and basically were treated like crap because they were gay. This is a way for society to give‘em a pat on the back and tell them they’re okay. You may think gay people are sick, twisted abominations, but that’s not what society thinks anymore. You don’t have to talk to gay p[eople, you don’t have to be friends with them, but they’re here. If you don’t want your kids going to school with them, where there are things like gay month, then send your kids to a privaye Christian school. I grew up when gay people were not looked upon favorably but my views have changed after knowing gay family members. Now I know a few gay people and they are as normal as you and me in their lives…except they sleep with someone of the same sex. Personally, as long as we’re not talking about children and animals, I don’t care who a person sleeps with. It’s a new world, man…

I don´t think so. You can write whatever you want in your own Facebook’s profile. And sorry, I think you don´t get it…when you are talking about right and wrong, you indeed have biased opinion. There are no middle points or grays areas here. What is wrong is wrong. Period. Who says so?…God…You have a problem with that?…Ask him. If the teacher is an honest person, she must stand with her beliefs. That is exactly what an honest person should do, and I think, especially if that person is a teacher.
On the other hand, she has her own opinion. She isn’t indoctrinating anybody, or trying to force her beliefs into the classroom. She isn’t obligating the kids to think what she says in Facebook. First Amendment at work.
What is happening here is that if you don´t agree with them, you are being offensive. Anything you say, but complements…is an offense to them.

I agree with the two posters. She can say whatever she wants; and when she’s a teacher, making inflammatory remarks in a public forum (facebook),she should know how it can turn against her. The woman’s entitled to her opinion, but your words have consequences. Shocking.
I don’t think she should lose her job, but I also don’t think she should be surprised at the huge outcry against her. I would say the same thing if she was railing against a different race, religion, or hell, disabilities. That her particular beef is with sexual orientation makes no difference; it wasn‘t on the job so she shouldn’t lose it, but it affects people she’s responsible for (students) and was a boneheaded move.

Admission to high school and college in NJ may also require “truth serum” testing in the future. We test for illegal drugs so why not test for illegal thoughts.
You know its coming because the technology now exists to determine what you think.

People kill people, not religions.
Whenever you come across the oh so common distortion of Christianity equaling mass-murder you know you’ve found a pseudo-intellectual atheist trying to prove he/she is the smartest person in the room. Enter JZS.
The impulse to seek dominion over others through brute force or manipulation is part of our nature. Those seeking to act upon these impulses naturally gravitate to the most powerful means of manipulation they can control. As such a tool, Christianity has been used many times by immoral men/women seeking to manipulate others to their own ends. In fact, many of man’s greatest atrocities have been committed by those convinced they are serving the greater good.
However, what the JZS of the world conveniently forget is that the truth of Christ always shines through these lies. Thou shalt not kill, steal, covet, etc., is so engrained in Christians hearts that they inevitably question the morality of the manipulators desires and rebel.
Belief in the ‘common good’ without the moral foundation of the teachings of Christ is where you’ll find the capacity for endless, mass atrocities. Without the moral limitations, hundreds of millions have been eradicated under Marxism, Socialism, Communism – all for the common good. However, this is the path the JZS of the world keep pushing.

The other womans thinking is based on the world and or herself. Now for your sake, IF the bible is true then there is also a devil (not a red man). The spirit of the world is satan. If her thinking is her own it is against God. This is true for all people born. She is also deceived in her thinking by the spirit of darknes. satan is called a lier and deceiver. So then, one person follows the spirit of light (God) and one person follows the spirit of darkness (satan). Light and dark are complete opposites. So, this would mean there is in fact, a MASSIVE difference. My whole point depends on the truth of Christ. It ALL comes down to that. A person that does not have Christ cannot see in the darkness. When it comes to the rest of your comment, you’re basing your opinion off your own interpretation of the Bible. That’s your right. But it also has absolutely nothing to do with my point, which is freedom of speech… something specifically not present in the Bible. So argue your way into a paper bag and fuddle around for a while, because you’re missing the point. Should these teachers be allowed to use their freedom of speech outside their workplace? Yes. Should they expect to be condemned for comments widely found offensive? Yes. Should they be fired for these comments, assuming their views have not impacted how they treat their students or what they teach them? No.

While, I don’t condone their actions, they have to deal with explaining it to the Maker, not me. What needs to be explained is why they have preferential treatment with “Hate Crimes” legislation and the like. All crime should be treated the same. None should be condoned. Freedom of speech means whatever you say is not a crime unless you say something that gets another harmed. Oh, and if you could hand me the responses to your own arguments, do me a favor and just, you know, make a convincing point next time to head them off. Otherwise I might start doubting your powers of prophecy ;-)
Again, you can read into the Bible however you’d like. I choose not to base arguments off the Bible because it’s obvious people will reach different interpretations using the exact same words. But… once again… the point isn’t the Bible. It’s about the freedom of speech and if these women should lose their jobs. And again, I say no, because they made these comments outside the classroom. If their views affect how they treat the students, then they should. Barring that, freedom of speech says they can do what they like if it’s not affecting others.
So I’m curious where you stand on this. One woman hates Zionist Jews; the other hates gays. Presumably both have some students who are Jewish, Israeli, gay, or have gay friends/family. Do you think they can keep their views out of their classes? And if you think one can but not the other, why?
Me? Both have hatred in their hearts, but none have done anything wrong besides speak up on what they feel. That’s not a crime; while people can disagree, they should not lose their jobs over it.

As per US law, both God and Satan do not have physical addresses and thus cannot be included in lawsuits since the police cannot serve process. If God is offended, he needs to move to the US to file suit. I wish I was kidding, but people have actually brought lawsuits against both of them (if you want to read about one them, here’s a link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_ex_rel._Gerald_Mayo_v._Satan_and_His_Staff).
Zionism is not innate, which is what I originally argued against (as someone said it was; this mistook it with race, ie, being Jewish. Very different. Being Jewish does not make you a Zionist, just like being a Christian does not make you an Evangelical).
And unless I missed it, you asked no question in your most recent response, nor any in ones before (unless it was the “should she be fired?” which I already answered). Was it “is there a difference?” Of course, in the categories (sexual orientation versus race). Does it make a legal difference? No, I don’t believe so; both hate the groups they hate. And sorry, but when you come out typing “YOU ARE WRONG! I DON’T NEED TO ACCEPT/TOLERATE ANYTHING YOU DO!” it’s personal, not about the sin. “You’re wrong” is what she’s saying, not “your actions are wrong.” You. Personal.

We are all standing with you Viki, don’t let the Correct-Politically crowd hold you down, you have a right to freedom of speech and expression and a freedom to voice opposing views.

This is an example of an Overton Window, or whatever: push so very hard that people will at least stop complaining about stuff which, just a short time ago, was not acceptable, or healthy, behavior in this country. At some point liberals started pushing the idea that there’s an unspoken assumption that gay behavior is excepted as moral and right by everyone in this country. It isn’t, and pretending outrage when a strong Christian comes out says it’s a sin is just silly.
