Emma ‘Hermione’ Watson to Leave Brown Univ. After Students Taunt Her

Business Insider reports that Emma Watson, the young actress who played Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, plans to take a leave of absence from Brown University. Watson enrolled at Brown for undergraduate study in 2009.

Emma Hermione Watson to Leave Brown Univ. After Students Taunt Her

Here’s Business Insider:

Apparently, Emma Watson’s desire to just be “normal” didn’t go as planned.

According to the Daily News, the Harry Potter star has taken a leave of absence from Brown University that may turn out to be permanent.

The New York Daily News has more details about how Watson was treated at Brown:

The insider says Watson didn’t shy away from class participation and often would “answer something in class and get it right,” calling the 21-year-old actress “really smart.” Unfortunately, this brought out the sophisticated wit and cinematic expertise of her Ivy League peers.

According to the source, her classmates “would respond [to her answer] with a quote from ‘Harry Potter.’“ The most popular choice was ”Three points for Gryffindor!” – a reference to the movie’s dormitory system, and a congratulatory phrase in the films when a student got a correct answer.

This wasn’t the only difficulty for the actress, who said on her personal blog before entering school that she just “want[ed] to be normal.” While attending a Brown-vs.-Harvard football game in Cambridge, the pixie-haired star described being “stalked” by Harvard students in her school’s section.

On her website, Watson wrote, “I‘ve decided to take a bit of time off to completely finish my work on ’Harry Potter’ … and to focus on my other professional and acting projects.”

She added: “I will still be working towards my degree … it’s just going to take me a semester or two longer than I thought.”

It appears the w a n k e r s at Brown knew the Potter series well. She was paid BIG bucks for her role in the Potter films. They, on the other hand, had to pay their daddies and mommies hard earned money to learn all the wonderful tidbits they love to share.

It’s too bad but this sort of crap comes with the territory. It is also very commendable that she wants to continue her education beyond acting. After all, look what sometimes has happened to “child stars” in the past. As soon as they grow up, for some, their careers (and lives) are over and they turn to drugs, alchohol, and bad behaviors. She is beautiful, talented, AND smart! YOU GO GIRL!

She probably doesn’t need the University degree. She’s an actress, not a physicist. There’s nothing wrong with learning about as much as one can about how the World works, but what does she want to do with a degree?

Does she want to teach something? An University degree is quite worthless if the person wants to be an actor.

I could be completely wrong on this assessment but since I’m a fan of Emma Brown , I think she is too classy for Brown University. I’m surprised she chose ( Brown) over Oxford and Cambridge. I suppose she thought she could benefit from getting out of her native civilization.. She thought American higher ed was civilized. Ha Ha Ha . It is the fountain of liberal moral depravity, multiracism and a plethora of cognitive toxicity. On the other hand maybe she needs to toughen up a bit . She could give Brooke Shields a call , another celebrity who endured celebritydom at Princeton. ( I used to work for a twit who graduated from Brown, he was an utter failure as a human being)

I think the primary problem at most colleges today is that WAY to many “students” attend because they’re told it is the only way to have a successful life, and not because they are remotely qualified or desirsous of being there for an actual education. Universities lost their purpose when they stopped teaching latin and started teaching basket weaving to attract the the non-serious student tuition $$.

When i was younger, I had a friend who went to Johnson and Whales which is not far from Brown. I use to go visit and the students there then were snotty, rude and full of self importance, extremely liberal. While I don’t know the specifics and intricacies of the situation, what the article describes about the classroom situations doesn’t really seem like taunting. Teasing at the worst. However, the stalking is a terrible thing. Sadly with something with such a cult following as Harry Potter, she’ll probably have to deal with that forever. I hope she can learn how to handle it well.

However, you‘d think she’d realize that she’ll probably be Hermione for the rest of her life. Johnny Depp will always be Captain Jack Sparrow. Harrison Ford, Han Solo and Indiana Jones.

THERE is NOTHING sophisticated about taunting. There is “childish”; “bratty” and you are correct…these students are displaying unmannerly actions. WHERE IS THE PROFESSOR? One comment – ONE time could have been funny…but to be taunted…. WHERE IS THE PROFESSOR?

This “INSULT” mentality which has replaced civil discussion must be replaced or it’s just going to get worse. I hope that this talented young woman realizes that the ‘taunters’ are jealous of her good fortune to have made a fortune in her life (and fame). She has done the right thing by removing herself from a taunting situation and I hope she’ll find another University – maybe not IVY league – that will exhibit better manners. AFTER ALL: most of the professors who ended up in these IVY LEAGUERS are Communist plants (seriously) whose only job was to ‘plant’ faux information and create havoc so as to ‘rot America from the inside’ (it was recently admitted in big articles all over the news – we’d known it for years – but finally proven).

I hope the University will take some steps to fix this situation. IT should be a matter of shame to bully or taunt anyone for any reason.

It’s too bad she sees the need to be educated at a university, since many these days, especially the ones like Brown, are in the death throes of Liberalism and have lost all vision for what a truly liberal education means. If she is smart and governs her film earnings she will be free to write her own ticket with regard to her life’s occupation, doing what she loves rather than what people will pay her to do.

My advice is to skip formal education and educate herself. Lincoln did it. But if she must immerse herself in an academic environment she should choose a smaller more serious one than Brown.

They struggle for years and years to get noticed and become famous and then it happens and they spend many more years trying to have the benefits of fame and fortune without any of the downside of being noticed. So lonely having to spend their time on private beaches in Malibu and in Mansions here and there slinking from limousines to private jets eating gourmet meals prepared by famous chefs only to be hounded by strangers shooting at them with cameras.
Is it jealousy that causes so many of them to spit on our soldiers? The anonymous souls that sleep in foxholes eating cold crappy food while being shot at by strangers with guns?
