Epic Beck Segment: Cain Story Sparks Debate on Men, Women, Trust, & Appearances

Following the breaking story about Ginger White’s allegation that she and Herman Cain have had a 13 year affair that included “inappropriate behavior,” a heated debate and discussion evolved on Glenn Beck’s radio show this morning.
The questions swirling the studio dealt with how married men and women can work together and still maintain a professional relationship.
Beck chose a cautious approach, as he believes that just the appearance of impropriety can cause too many problems. He suggested that lunches and dinners with members of the opposite sex never be taken with just two people, and that they should not be happening at all if one’s spouse is uncomfortable with the situation.
The impassioned discussion included co-host Pat, Executive Producer Stu, Producer Sarah, and Blaze CEO Betsy Morgan, who joined the conversation to support the stance that men and women can conduct platonic business outside of the office.
The entire discussion spanned over an hour and included plenty of laughs, hyperbole about “insane women,” and even Beck predicting someone’s divorce:
Where do you stand on the issue of men, women, trust and appearances?
Men… Women… Trust… And Appearances

Posted on November 29, 2011 at 2:04pmThe deal with apperances is if someone gossips and it goes all over town that so-and-so did such-and-such when it wasn’t true is the problem with the person doing the gossiping and the people who choose to believe it without checking with whoever is being gossiped about. If some guy or girl really DOES want more than a casual friendship when it’s wrong there is a little word spelled “N.O.” that should do the trick.

Posted on November 29, 2011 at 2:30pmI agree with Beck. I was single and working with a woman and we became very good friends. I took her out for dinner and we spent a lot of time together. I thought there was nothing wrong with it. Rumors spread around the work place and my boss decided to place me under investigation for sexual harassment. After 3 months, I was found not guilty because there was no evidence. I lost everything that day. I had almost finished my degree and was almost finished paying off my vehicle when my boss said, “I’m not renewing your contract.”
Report Post »Even though there was no evidence, they “labeled” me guilty just for the appearance and rumors. I was doing nothing wrong, but as a guy, I was automatically guilty when accused. I agree with Stu, it is ridiculous, but it’s the world we live in today. I will never be alone with a woman I work with after that experience and I’m single!

Posted on November 29, 2011 at 3:22pmI know that even in the day, there was some of this going on. But the problem is “fundamental”, to quote a term that’s all the rage in the present administration. It goes back to character. Morality and honor and integrity.
Today, ALL of these are widely considered and accepted to be ‘relative’ to any single persons belief system. With no national (or collective) moral compass people become literally insane. (http://www.ourcivilisation.com/moral2/test.htm) Like the black friday pepper spray moron. That just isn’t rational behavior, by any standard.
We have to convince people that working together to build a ‘community’ (a nation, or if you prefer town) is the best for everyone. And that common ‘expectations’ of behavior or morality, are part and parcel of that effort. And that takes time.
And once the ‘animal’ has been let loose, history has proved it is nearly impossible to get back under control without considerable backsliding in social and community contexts. Immediate gratification is a symptom of that ‘insanity.’

Posted on November 29, 2011 at 3:25pmThe Bible tells us in I Thess 5:22 KJV “Abstain from all appearance of evil”. So even if someone might see you and mistake what they are seeing for something it’s not, we should abstain from it. Especially if we are calling ourselves Christian. We should never even appear to be sinning. That could lead whoever sees you conclude that Christians are hypocrits. This can keep a lost person from being saved. Yes, it is possible for men and women to be “just friends”. But if either of them is at all attracted to the other, the relationship becomes a temptation. If you are married, never let yourself be alone with the opposite sex. Why chance it?

Posted on November 29, 2011 at 4:11pmI’ve been married for 40 years. While I agree that it’s wrong (and foolish) for a married person to spend personal time alone with a member of the opposite sex without the spouse’s knowledge and approval, let’s put this Cain situation into perspective…
…WE’RE LOOKING FOR A HERO TO SAVE OUR COUNTRY, PEOPLE! If you’re looking for a PERFECT person for President, I hate to break the news but Jesus isn’t running! Since there‘s no one among us that hasn’t sinned, maybe we should be more realistic and choose someone based on skills, ability, business and leadership experience, intelligence and honesty. EVERY ONE of the Republican candidates beat Obama in these categories hands down! Hmmm…Cain, who may have had an affair (but still married), or Obama, a Marxist who hates this country? Perry, who can’t debate well but has good ideas, or Obama, a Marxist who wants to “fundamentally change the United States of America”? Newt, who has been married more than once, or Obama…A MARXIST!! I could go on, but I think you get the point.
Let’s focus on the important criteria, folks, and not continue to discard candidates because they’re not perfect. The next President of the United States has two very important duties: to protect us from our enemies and lead us out of the current economic crisis. If he can do that, I couldn’t care less what he does on his personal time. We can solve the rest of the social issues on our own.

Posted on November 29, 2011 at 5:23pmGender feminists, who are a major part of the Democrat party, will look at Beck’s comments as sexist and oppressing women. They will say women should be free of such “good ole boy” restrictions so they can be free to show their superiority to men. They will say the problem lies totally with men, who they will by the way point out, “comprise almost all sexual harassers and rapists.” Sadly, many Republican women buy into this misandrist, radical feminist, delusional mind set. Perhaps Beck’s time would have been better spent discussing all the ways the radical gender feminists (comprising a major segment of the Democrat party) witch-hunt men as shown in “Witch-Hunting Males” at Youtube. http://tinyurl.com/65dpzwu But then, I‘m beginning to think Beck doesn’t have the knowledge, and/or integrity, and/or courage to address all the radical gender feminist abuses that are going on in society, since he never speaks of feminism. Wake Up Beck!

Posted on November 30, 2011 at 1:40amThe “lady” in question, Ginger White, is “a divorced mother of two with a long history of financial troubles”. And a checkered legal history as well. Where have we heard THAT before?
Some irresponsible skank is out for whatever money she can get, never mind how she gets it. Somebody out there whose pockets are deeper than Mr. Cain’s evidently gave or promised her enough money to go over to the other side. We may eventually find out exactly who paid her to commit slander, but by then, it will most likely be too late.
I am acquainted with many people who try to help others who are (or claim to be) in need. Sometimes that involves money, a lot of phone conversations, and other forms of assistance. It’s just plain indecent for us to assume that a sexual quid pro quo is automatically involved. If we have this attitude, then nobody will ever want to help anybody with anything out of fear of compromising their reputation. The upshot? Anybody who is genuinely in need will have to rely on the all-powerful government. Is that what we want?

Posted on November 29, 2011 at 2:33pmRight on Lori, Cain did not have that kind of mindset and it has bit him in the butt, the reason he didn’t have that mind set could be because he was looking. That won’t matter to some of these meat heads if they knew Cain was guilty, They look up to Studsters like Bill Clinton, they are probably democrats, a real conservative Christian doesn’t approve of adultery. Conservatism without Christ is worthless! They stood up for Bill Clinton after he was proven to be an adulterer and most likely was guilty of sexual harassment too, he certainly was accused of it. Most of the time when sexual abuse happens, it will eventually lead to an affair being uncovered! I think such as the case here with Cain. I think the women who brought the sexual harassment cases to light should heave kept their mouth shut though after they took money and did not prosecute. Gloria is going to cross examine Herman worse than any press ever thought about doing, She probably already has! Herman will drop out within 5 days and I’m giving more time than I think necessary!

Posted on November 29, 2011 at 3:26pmI was always instructed and advised by my business partners (probably the most godly bunch of business men and women I have every known inside or out of a church) to obey three commandments.
1 – never mess with anybody’s time
2 – never mess with anybody’s money
3 – never mess with anybody’s spouse
So basically, do what you say you will do, pay your bills on time and in full, and even the appearance of or perception of infidelity is enough to cause problems. You never had a business meeting with just you and one member of the opposite sex. You were never alone in your car or the room with one member of the opposite sex. And if you had to go to the home of a business partner, you did not ENTER unless the spouse was home, if that partner was of the opposite sex. I even obeyed this with my sister-in-law, since my brother was a partner in the business.
Advertisers will tell you… Perception is everything!!
Herman is getting screwed by this witch hunt and if this was a Democrat…everyone would be screaming about the vast right wing religious nutjobs that want to control you in your bedroom, burn you if you are gay, and stone you to death if you dare to even flirt with someone not your spouse.
This is a joke…I don’t think after nearly 40 years Mrs. Cain would lie about this garbage to the media. Hillary always did and played the victim…Mrs. Cain has more integrity than that and I think Herman would be in the hospital if all this was true.

He grew up in Georgia[16] and graduated from Morehouse College in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics.
Cain, accepted for graduate studies at Purdue, received a Masters in computer science there in 1971,[17] while he also worked full-time in ballistics for the U.S. Department of the Navy.[18]
Cain received the 1996 Horatio Alger Award[19] and has received honorary degrees from Creighton University, Johnson & Wales University,Morehouse College, University of Nebraska, New York City Technical College, Purdue University, Suffolk University, and Tougaloo College.[20]
After completing his master’s degree from Purdue, Cain left the Department of the Navy and began working for The Coca-Cola Company in Atlanta as a computer systems analyst. In 1977, he moved to Minneapolis to join Pillsbury,[21] soon becoming director of business analysis[22] in its restaurant and foods group in 1978.

Posted on November 29, 2011 at 2:03pmAt age 36, Cain was assigned in the 1980s first to analyze and ultimately to take the reins of Burger King, where he managed 400 stores in the Philadelphia area. At the time, Burger King was a Pillsbury subsidiary. Under Cain’s leadership his region went, in three years, from the least profitable for Burger King to the most profitable. According to a 1987 account in theMinneapolis Star Tribune, Pillsbury’s then-president Win Wallin said, “He was an excellent bet. Herman always seemed to have his act together.”[23] At Burger King, Cain “established the BEAMER program, which taught our employees, mostly teenagers, how to make our patrons smile” by smiling themselves. It was a success: “Within three months of the program’s initiation, the sales trend was moving steadily higher.”[24]
His successes at Burger King prompted Pillsbury to appoint him president and CEO of another subsidiary, Godfather’s Pizza. Cain arrived on April 1, 1986, and told employees, “I‘m Herman Cain and this ain’t no April Fool’s joke. We are not dead. Our objective is to prove to Pillsbury and everyone else that we will survive.”[25] Aiming to cut costs, Cain, over a 14-month period, reduced the company from 911 stores to 420. As a result of his efforts, Godfather’s Pizza became profitable[citation needed]. In a leveraged buyout in 1988, Cain, Executive Vice-President and COO Ronald B. Gartlan and a group of investors, bought Godfather’s from Pillsbury. Cain continued as CEO until 1996,

Cain became a member of the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City in 1992 and served as its chairman from January 1995 to August 1996, when he resigned to become active in national politics.[28]
Cain was on the board of directors of Aquila, Inc. from 1992 to 2008, and also served as a board member for Nabisco, Whirlpool, Reader’s Digest, and AGCO, Inc.[29][20][30]

They pulled us both into room and told me the accusations that i was parking next to her car and i put my foot under her chair and that i was talking in words that had sexual over tones. I started laughing when the told me all this, as they where getting ready to fire me because of me not taking it seriously . But thanks to friends at the job they came to my aid and told the accuser and my bosses that i had ADHD and that many times i do not have control of my action which is the truth. I do not remember what i say or do sometimes…. When they told me not to speak about it anyone i did the complete opposite i told everyone in the office including my girlfriend at the time. granted i moved to another branch soon afterward….

Posted on November 29, 2011 at 1:40pmI think that anyone with a past that can be brought up against them that can hurt their chances political office should have not run at all. If Cain is guilty of these things then clearly his ego and arrogance as overwhelmed his better judgement. We have all learned by now that politics is a high stakes game with lots of money to be spent on finding whats under a potential candidate’s finger nails particularly a Right wing candidate. Yesterday a writer from the Washington Post was advertising for help in finding mud on Newt Gingrich , if anyone knows anything or has anything to contact him. I know the real problem lies with the Left’s control or hold on the media since they are behind most of these types of attacks and tactics.

Posted on November 29, 2011 at 2:08pmI have been asked to run for office by several people but I cannot because of a stupid thing I did in college 20 years ago. It was a hazing ritual to do a scavenger hunt and you could not buy the items. I ended up taking a chicken (live) from a chicken farm, was caught and because it was in the early morning hours I was charged with burglary. I was naive and plead to 2nd degree burglary. Seven years later I was able to have the conviction overturned and the action dismissed and I have never done anything like that since. I am an honest citizen and even have a clean driving record over the last ten years, but that one thing will keep me from ever running for office as it would be found and published everywhere. This is why I raised my children telling them to not do something stupid even if being pressured by their peers as it will follow you all your life even if you are the most honest person in the world.

Posted on November 29, 2011 at 3:45pmNo Tea Party person on earth would vote for Newt. Gingrich wrote the forward for a book “Creating a New Civilization” by Alvin and Heidi Tofler, who are “ex” Marxists and “futurists” that Newt calls friends. “The Constitution of the United States needs to be reconsidered and altered…..The system that served us so well must, in its turn, die and be replaced. ”
Sure sounds like UN Agenda 21 to me! Learn about it before you vote! Glenn has warned about it for years! Why doesn’t everyone know already?

Posted on November 29, 2011 at 1:32pmIt’s sad that we have to be cautious w.r.t. co-workers because of the appearance of inpropriety. That is the reason there will never be equal opportunities between the sexes. Guess that’s how our society works. I will add that if you are a CEO of any business, you have to always have multiple folk during dinner business arrangements if opposite sex folk are involved so that is the lesson we have seen here with Mr. Cain. Don’t dare make friends with the opposite sex period since the opposite sex will frame you if given enough incentive to do so. ‘Nough said. :)

Posted on November 29, 2011 at 4:14pmCain reassessing campaign after affair charge…!
Report Post »Cain’s lawyer, Lin Wood, said the allegation “appears to be an accusation of private, alleged consensual conduct between adults – a subject matter which is not a proper subject of inquiry by the media or the public.”
Oh really Mr. Wood…?
Well let’s see how that affects the feelings and beliefs of American Christian conservatives…?
Oh wait… Cain is supposed to be a Christian Conservative…
Hmmm… What’s missing from your morals, virtue, and values Herman…?
The Christian part or the conservative part…?
I’m guessing both…!
“It’s not like harassment because it was consensual.” Cain’s lawyer’s statement to the media.
Really…? This is an indication of how far and fast we’ve fallen in America.
I don’t understand why Herman Cain is not suing these women if they are lying… There is a reason and deep down inside your gut you know why… Don’t you…?

Posted on November 29, 2011 at 1:29pmCain’s also a minister, which makes him an easy, trusting mark for predatory bimbos.
In Glenn’s world, I suppose men can’t do anything nice for women other than their wives without the expectation of sexual payment.
Sorry. Not gonna live there. If that’s truly the state of things, we should all just Jim Jones out.

Posted on November 29, 2011 at 1:27pmThe idea that I, as a married man, can’t have dinner with a female employee on the road is absolutely ludicrous.
Are we all supposed to completely avoid the opposite sex and live in a constant state of vigilance outside of the workplace for fear of “what people might say”?
That’s idiotic. No one should have to live like that, or else the gossip machine wins.
PS – George Washington was a great guy. He wasn’t PERFECT.

Posted on November 29, 2011 at 4:10pmPerhaps you should consider what risks you are taking when opening up your attentions to another woman. Gossip is not the primary risk. The strength of your marriage hangs in the balance. Does this dining out with other women strengthen your marriage? You answer that one for yourself and then make the judgment call.

Posted on November 29, 2011 at 8:43pm@BUMR50 Ask your wife that question. I‘m sure she’ll be MORE THAN HAPPY to explain it to you lol. Also because Cain is a minister, he is even MORE wrong for having relationships with many women that his wife knows nothing about especially for 13 YEARS! Only a sociopath could be battling stage 4 cancer and simultaneously conducting salacious affairs. The man’s got energy, though, I’ll give him that. Imagine how Bin Laden could have been stopped if Bubba were paying full attention to his job instead of carrying on with a young impressionable girl at the very same time he was seeing the intelligence. But too busy with cigars.

I love how fundies think that humans are nothing more than animalistic beasts.
Probably is a side-effect of being sexually repressed for so many years.
My wife wouldn‘t give a rat’s ass if I went to a business dinner with a woman, since she knows I have not the slightest interest in cheating on her.
