Eric Cantor Answers Why He Thinks So Many Jews Are DemocratsIn an interview with CBS’s “60 Minutes,” corespondent Lesley Stahl asked House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) why so many of his fellow Jews don’t support the Republican Party.

“Why do you think that most Jews are Democrats? Is there something in the faith that guides them more to the Democratic Party?,” Stahl asked.

Cantor, clearly having his own challenges with the truth inherent in the question, answered, ”This has been the bane of my existence for a long time, because…I’ve grown up and…very active and adherent to a faith and a community that is by-and-large Democratic.”

Stahl pushed a bit harder, asking why Cantor believes that this lack of support for the GOP has taken hold.

“I think, perhaps, that our party — the Republican Party — wasn’t really good at welcoming immigrants — wasn’t really good at saying, ‘Hey, we want to give you a helping hand,’” Cantor answered.

This answer, considering the current debate in Washington over entitlements and spending, is an intriguing one. Many Democrats would contend that giving “a helping hand” is exactly what they’re trying to do through their budgetary proposals.

Meanwhile, Republicans, like Cantor, would claim that fiscal responsibility should be the guiding principle in handling the debt crisis. It’s tough to know the exact historical references Cantor is referring to in his assessment of Jewish support, as Stahl declined to dig deeper on the issue. But his comments are certainly worth noting.

“Was there something in the faith, because people say there is? People say that Jews care more about the poor than the Republican Party,” Stahl both asked and stated.

Here, too, Cantor’s answer was intriguing. He described the spirit of helping one’s fellow man that is present in both Judaism and Christianity. Then, he went on the describe the “ability” that people have to see government programs as accomplishing this goal — a tactic many Democrats have used to corroborate big-government proposals.

“Clearly, there is the ability to characterize all the social programs that exist at the federal level as reflecting that need to repair the world and to help those who can’t help themselves,” Cantor said.

He went on to address some of his critics who contend that he doesn’t care about those in need.

“Nobody wants to hurt the poor. I care about the poor. I care about helping people who need the help,” he said. “As far as taxing the rich, I think that we should make sure that everybody — middle class and the rest — hardworking taxpayers in this country — are able to keep as much of what they earn as they can, because they, too, can help the poor.”

Jews have been hated by many for centuries around the world, and the reasons have run the gamut. They have been blamed for plagues and other natural disasters, communism, unexplained deaths in a community, etc. Now the Holocaust, according to a genius such as you, was caused by liberalism in the European Jewish community. Yeah, right. Just remember what Abraham Lincoln said, “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.”

      and the Conservatives in the US were Nazi sympathizers for the most part, they helped pass laws to prevent Jews from coming over and worked hard to prevent Jews from coming who could have been saved and they influenced much of what the Nazis did(with Eugenics, Immigration quotas, allies in the US)

      Liberals don’t like to study history, because it usually defeats their narrative. Instead they simply make up whatever fits their narrative.

      The National Socialist German Workers’ Party was anti-big business and anti-capitalist, both of which were associated with Jews. The reason for rounding them up into camps is explained in Mein Kampf, where Hitler laments that had the Jews with money and power been put in prison at the start of WWI, Germany would have prevailed.

      Modern liberals have been working tirelessly for many decades to associate Hitler with right wing ideology. In reality, almost everything in the NSDAP platform would be most analogous with modern liberalism. That doesn’t stop the “scholars,” however, from confidently defining the NSDAP as “far right wing.”

      New York City and Chicago were the primary destinations for Jews leaving Eastern Europe. Democrats dominated both these cities for 150 years. Voting for anybody but a Democrat was wasted a vote. The best a voter could do is vote for a Democrat that was least bad.

The camps you mentioned were only a recent memory…Jews have been at the mercy of Christian and Islamic leaders for two milennia. Some were benevolent but most were malevolant. The lies of Paul led to the separation of the followers of Jesus from Judaism. The expulsion of Jews from England for 350 years based on a lie, the Crusades killing more than a million Jews, the Inquisition in the name of the Roman Church killing Jews for 400 years in Spain and South America, the pogroms in Russia and throughout eastern Europe, of course the Holocaust you mentioned, the murder of Jews in Poland who just wanted to go back to their homes? The assault on the nascent state of Israel, and Mr. Achmajinidad in Iran today. Jews have become a bit tainted when it comes to trusting others, even the well-meaning Christians today.       The fact that most of the European Jews were socialists is probably a large part of why they were complicit in not fighting back effectively against the Nazis while there was still a chance. (Those that immigrated to the West remained socialist when they got here and gravitated to the closest party that promised to take care of them.) Freedom is not compatible with socialism, period. Until that fact is clearly understood, we are in trouble.

      I believe that you’re pretty much on mark. Remember back when America was great Hitler said that he envied America’s immigration policy and wanted to replicate it in Germany. Back then in Germany their leaders mostly Jewish were advocating open borders and forced diversity… Anyone begin to see any parallels?

      What did the US gov‘t pre 1933 and the German gov’t post 1933-45 have in common? lol

      I believe along with the 75% of Americans in 1964 that the new immigration law has severely harmed our Republic but it didn’t matter back then did it?       tzion: First of all I’m not blaming Jews, I’m responding to the post that said their liberalism played a part in the supposed Holocaust. I believe that it did but I wouldn‘t call it liberalism I’d call it Marxism. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to research the Marxist leaders in early 20th century Russia and in Germany at the end of WW1 to see that significant majority of them were indeed Jews. Just as Glenn did a little research to discover that 8 of the 9 most detrimental people to the American republic in the 20th century were Jews you could do the same for Germany and Russia.

      Concerning your numbers for Jews that vote Dem. I‘ve seen higher but that’s no big deal. You’re correct that blacks vote in much higher percentage than do Jews for the more Marxist leaning candidate.

      You are certainly that religions don’t promote the power of the individual over the rest of us. Actually no major religion promotes that, and probably no religion that believes in a god.

      God, and the religions I understand protect the common people, not Ayn Rand’s Superman. No religion could maintain an broad adherence for long by exalting the rich and powerful, while preaching the rest of us to accept their lot and submit and hope for the regaining an equal status in Heaven.

      You know, Heaven, where everyone is equal and shares the same benefits like a communist state. As far as I can tell, the rich and powerful people on earth don’t retain that status in the Christian Heaven. Maybe I’m wrong though, maybe you CAN take it with you.

      This post is misleading in so many ways. While I’m not certain, I’ve read in various places that Stalin was indeed partially Jewish. Due to his brutality and barbarianism I suspect that he at a minimum was half Jewish. He was certainly a Marxist like most Jews of the day since it was founded by the Jew Karl Marx. While Jews were a minority in Russia, there’s little question that they filled the overwhelming majority of power positions under both Lenin and Stalin. In other words it was Jews calling the shots after the Revolution in Russia and it was Jews that was responsible for the 30-40 million murdered by the Marxists in Russia alone in the 20th century.

      It’s true that Hitler hated Marxists but he hated Jews because they identified with the Marxist movment in such large numbers. Did Stalin turn on the Jews at the end of his reign? Yes indeed. Is there some law that Jews can’t slaugther Jews? Or Christians can’t slaughter other Christians.. Don’t think so.

      Imagine that, a Republican admitting that the party hasn’t been welcoming toward immigrants. That’s obviously true of course, but unexpected to hear that from any Republican, especially someone like Eric Cantor. Interesting too his opinion that the Jewish idea about helping the poor draws them more to the Democrats than the Republicans based on their religion.

      Mr. Cantor seems to forger that General Eisenhour freed many death camps in Germany and later as president (Republican) welcomed many of the Jewish survivors to America. Democrats have done more to take the earnings of hard working Jewish businessmen and distribute those funds of hundreds of thousands of people who wouldn’t work in a pie factory if all they had to do was taste pies. Democrats, using American’s hard earned wages and profits from hard working businessmen and created the new slave class of dependant welfare receiptants.

Poor blacks whose neighborhoods are being taken over by illegal aliens who take all of the entry level jobs for their youth and whose schools lose funding for art and sports programs, but never for expensive bilingual education programs still feel that they can not join the racist white Republicans in calling for better border security and enforcement of immigration laws lest they be sellouts to “The Man.”

      Correction. America was limiting immigration, not just as a whole, but from specific countries of origin. Look up immigration quotas. America used census data to setup a system of quotas such that groups that were highly represented in the US were favored and vice versa. While Jews weren;t explicitly discriminated against, eastern Europeans were. Remember, most of the Jews who perished in the Holocaust were eastern European. Most of the Death Camps were in Poland. Another country that suffered was Italy (too many Catholics). Western European Jews, particularly German Jews, often managed to escape since their countries were considered “favorable”.

      Think for your self. Think logical, if you have a million people standing around the holders of a piggy bank with $500 worth of pennies in it, all wanting their fair share, its is not going to work. Now if you break that piggy bank in front of those million people you will have chaos. If you can blame that chaos on someone else, that is even better for the holders of the piggy bank and they sit back and smile. Now they can point the finger of blame on some one else.

      We have become a world of people who find it easier to put blame on someone else for the problems at hand, than to first look at ourselves and fix our own problems, which is our job, not someone else. Unless we have a major medical problem or handicap, it is our own responsibility to provide for ourselves and our immediate family. If we would have any moral compass at all, after we fix our selves, we then help someone else, which many many people do.

      99% of politcians whether Democrat and Republican, Bankers, Greedy Corporations, Greedy Rich, have no moral compass, they all have an agenda driven by the greed for money and control.

      American Mensch. The USSR became an ally of Nazi Germany in late August 1939. Nazi Germany invaded Poland on September 1st 1939 and it’s ally the USSR invaded Poland two weeks later and occupied almost 1/2 of Poland for nearly two years until Hitler turned on his ally Stalin and invaded the USSR on June 21, 1941. During that time the USSR sold grain and other valuable food to (while his own people starved) Nazi Germany as well as oil which fueled the German Army and the Luftwaffe during that period. It was Soviet oil which in large part fueled the Nazi Luftwafffe bombers that bombed British cities from September 1940 until June 1941. The Polish people suffered terribly under both Nazi and Soviet occupation. One example is the mass murder of Polish Army officers by the KGB at Katyn which was a city in the USSR at that time. As many as one million Poles were sent to labor camps in Stalin’s Gulag during that time period also. I wonder how the American Jewish left wingers and communists at that time rationalized this Nazi Germany USSR alliance from 1939 until 1941 since a large and dispropotionate % of the members of the over 3 million members of the Communist Party USA at that time were Jews?

    It was also the idea of the Christian Coalition, that if you did not believe in the Jesus the same way as Jerry Farrell did and the like, you are not a Republican. Faith of Judaism has very little to do with it. It has nothing to do with economics of helping people the Republican party was for a time the Catholic only party with the all the anti-gay stuff ect. As a result Jews and libertarians headed left to the only other option.

    But now that it has ran its course a Mormon will lead the Republican party. That would be unheard of 20-30 years ago. The difference is not catholic vs non-catholic, it is communist vs freedom, and when that message get out Jews will return to the right.

      Actually, most Jews who support socialism and communism are secular and don’t actually practice Judaism. Some actually oppose Judaic practices. Marx was a secular Jew as were most of the early Zionists. The Kibbutzim you mentioned were setup by predominately secular Jews. Religious Jews in Europe did stick together and look after each other but they still believed in the value of a days work, still had rich and poor people, and still ran private businesses. The Jews today who support socialism are much the same: most are completely secular or belong to the Reform movement. Most Orthodox Jews, regardless of which group they belong to, oppose socialism. The problem is Jews are leaving Judaism, not that Judaism encourages socialism.

      On a side note, Kibbutzim use a form of socialism that is entirely different from what progressives push for. 1. People choose to live on a kibbutz 2. People on a kibbutz govern themselves directly and 3. People can leave the kibbutz at any time. By the Progressive model 1. You would have no choice in the matter 2. They would govern you without your consent and 3. You would not be permitted to leave. The two are very nearly opposites.

      As for the Kibbutz, you are also correct, in its origins. The problem is that the Jewish culture, wherever it goes, takes that kibbutz-ism with it. They bring their cultural communism with them, and as they become more significant in those host cultures, they begin to impose their will. And, being a minority, they must divide in order to conquer, and that is what they do. They become active dividers among the people that were/are their hosts. From Egypt, to Babylon, to the many nations of Europe and now America this has been, is, their history.

      @TZION, you sir are 100% correct. This a later post, so you will not likely see it, but most Jews who support Obama are secular and sadly are not supporters of Israel. I know a goodly number of Jews who are not secular, do not support Obama, and do support Israel. SMACKDOWN, definitely is offtrack when he quotes Ben Freedman, right or wrong, and interpolates that that is the basis of Jewish culture derived thought and action. Crazy world out there and a good number of good points on the blog. Also a number of points from people who have their head at least partially up their arse.

    This is an interesting problem: Many Jews have a distrust of Christians due to centuries of abuse by people using Christ as the excuse. The Democratic Party has made it very difficult for actual Christians to adhere to the Democratic platform.

    Christ said that if we give everything we have to the poor, it will profit us nothing if we have not love. A government and government program are incapable of love. And, the trillions spent over the past 50 years by our governement on the poor, (and buying of thier votes, by the way); the percentage of the populace that is poor has grown since the inception of the ‘war on poverty’. Clearly the war has profited our country not the slightest. Interestingly, the war has profited the Democratic party as they have bought votes; the more bread and circuses they have provided, the more folks that rely on the bread and circus.

      Interesting premise. Let’s see, Paul of Tarsus, was himself a persecutor of the followers of Jesus. He followed a long line of persecutors and killers of The Way, Christians. Jesus was killed by the persecuting Pharisees, the precursors of Judaism. And historically speaking, these Pharisees, the later Jews of Talmudic Judaism, had no respect or love for Christians. The Talmud speaks ill of the followers of Jesus.

      The distrust of the Christians was well earned by the Pharisees, later to become the Jews of Judaism, most of whom have no relation to Abraham. Most are the descendents of the Khazars.

      How do you figure most Jews are descendants of the Khazars? Are you saying that all the Jews living under Roman rule up and vanished? There were Jews in every corner of the Roman empire. Yes the Khazars converted to Judaism, but do you really expect us to believe that one small kingdom that eventually disappeared somehow became the only heir of the Jews? What about Levites and Kohanim? These titles are passed on from generations descended from the original Levites. The Kohanim apparently have their own distinct genetic marker that shows that most of them have a common ancestor. There were Jews long before there were Khazars. After all if there were no Jews, why would the Khazars have converted?

      After Constantine, the tables turned. In the Crusades, ‘Christians’ targeted Jews as well as Muslims. In another Crusade, ‘Christians’ targeted other Christians in Constantinople.

      Through the years, Muslims, Christians and h*m*os*xuals have killed many more of their own than have been victims of other groups.

      Jews don’t seem to target each other as a rule…perhaps because they have been persecuted so consistently. Despite that, Jews seem to win more (earned) Nobel science prizes than any other group.

      Read your source again. You just said “Eastern European ORIGIN” as in that’s where they came from. Khazar was in eastern Europe so it would make sense that Jews from there have Khazarian ancestors. However, there were also Jews in central and western Europe as well as the Middle East going as far east as Persia. In addition, Jews from eastern Europe were in contact with the rest of the European Jews to some extant so there could have been interbreeding. If you want to talk about Russian Jews that’s one thing, but how would German Jews be descended from the Khazars and not the Israelites?

It is more than a throw back, as we have the likes of Obama, Rahm, Valerie Jarrett, etc., who are the epitome of crime and corruption in politics out of the Richard Daley and his forefathers mode. Add their crazy ideology and their poorly nurtured youth and adolescence, and you have a mixture of death and destruction – the walking dead you might call them. The liberal Jews are so attuned to supporting the Democratic Party, that if they don’t wake up soon, they may well have found themselves to have “walked off the plank” on this one, especially how the Islamic Sympathizer-in-Chief and commensurately the Anti-Israeli-in-Chief, if not an “I are one”(meaning “my Muslim faith” himself), has openly demonstrated his biases against Israel and the Israeli people. Not a big step for him to at some point display open disdain for the American Jew. Time will tell, particularly if we should get stuck with him for another 4 years. May God forbid it.

    Charity Is not the ‘job’ of the government, that is the ‘job’ of the individual and the church. God is expressed through the individual via charity. The government is not “god”, it should be in the service of God; It should not be a theocracy. Government should simply enable us to be ourselves by securing our borders, and getting out of the way.

    Charity is about responsibility. When you turn your responsibility over to the government it is no longer charity. You can give fish to people and it will feed them for a day, but if you teach them to fish, they will eat for a lifetime. Government does not teach people to be self sufficient, but keeps them reliant on government. This is not a Judeo-Christian value. It is a Communistic/Socialist value that has seemed to permeate into the American Culture.

      ECHOHAWK, yes sir, he did teach his men to fish – to fish for men. Did a right fine job too. So fine that after 2000 years his followers are still fishing for men. Must have done something right, his teachings are still bearing fruit. That is a good thing!

      BTW, Jesus also provided the fish to eat several times, but he never suggested that the fishing industry should be done away with, or that the government should run it. Nor was it the governments responsibility to feed the poor or add to their ranks. It is because the government took on the job of feeding the poor that the number of poor increased exponentially, and it is not by accident.

    There are many articles to cite demonstrating that Republicans are consistently more philanthropic than tightwad Democrats. Many articles! The difference is that Republicans use their own money to support charitable causes, while Democrats use other peoples’ money to reward carefully selected groups to generate votes. Cantor’s response is lame. Republicans do welcome LEGAL immigrants and DO OFFER the most to charity.

      You are correct. Our own CIC gave only $1000 to charity when he was running for pres. Unfortunately Jewish culture does support the dem‘s practice of using other people’s money to help selected ones succeed & punishing their enemies…aka those who do not fall in line.

      It is a known fact that Republicans are far more charitable with their own money. It is also a known fact that the Democrats are not charitable with their own money. Pretty pathetic I would say. It goes back to the mindset of conservatives versus the mindset of liberals, and those mindsets are governed by the hearts. The Democrats masquerade as caring for the poor, but their sin has many times found them out; they use the poor to perpetuate themselves in power and to fill their coffers. Now the Democrats have also added to their portfolio the generation on Wall Street, super rich, that have become exceedingly greedy, because once again the Democrats have championed taking prayer and Bible reading out of schools and secularizing colleges and universities so even the rich kids that attend the Ivy League colleges have no exposure to Judeo-Christian values and therefore have learned well how to steal, kill and destroy from their anti-God professors, who have bought into the one world government and globalism with all of its evil machinations. Unfortunately, there are a number of RINOs who go right along.
      Yes, were in deep trouble, but don’t abandon ship yet. There is still hope. Just a lot of work to do.

    the lord wants us to help those in need out of the goodness of our hearts, not forced at gunpoint. charity is just that and should never be a forced issue. the lord also wants those in need to learn how to do for self so they can one day be helpers of the poor. americans should come together as a people and take on each chaitable issue one at a time. provide food to the poor while we teach the poor to grow food and create a sense of independence within them. before we as a people can do any of these things we must first get the gov. to back off and let we the people take control of our communities once again. stp with the ignorant regulatons that state you can not hand out home cooked meals without a permit. if a man can eat left over prechewed food that has been tossed in the local dumpster then i think he will be ok with eating a fresh,hot,home cooked meal. govt. can not force human beings to have a conscience. that is a something liberals and big govt. supporters need to learn. i want to be in control and responsible for my own actions. i do not want govt. or anyone else in control of me and my actions. trust me, govt. will never take responsibility for our actions, so why should they be in control of them?

      Why is Congressman Eric Cantor blocking this basic good-government reform? Does Cantor believe that congressmen should be allowed to inside trade with impunity? Does Cantor not realize that congressional insider trading raises serious issues of ethics, corruption, and even the potential for bribery? Does Cantor not see that the current de facto exemption of Congress from the draconian penalties for insider trading it has imposed on everybody else is fundamentally unfair?
