There’s a bizarre report on CampusReform.org claiming that a college professor in California showed a full-length, pornographic film to her students. According to Oliver Darcy of The Leadership Institute, Fresno State Public Health Professor Peggy Gish reportedly showed the movie, “Advanced Sexual Techniques, Volume One,” which touted sexually-explicit audio and video messaging.
Information about the controversial classroom lesson came out after a student, who wishes to remain nameless, brought concerns to Campus Reform, a conservative group that assists right-leaning activists on colleges campuses.
A synopsis of the film, as shared by Darcy, explains that it follows 12 couples who have different backgrounds and ethnicities. These individuals apparently explore various sexual positions and techniques. In an official description, the film promises to showcase and explain Kama Sutra sexual positions, provide information on the “elusive G-spot“ and delve into ”erotic massage.” Here’s a portion of the description:
Making love is an art much like painting. Some couples use only primary colors, but when you use an entire palette, your sex life becomes a vibrant and thrilling adventure. Join some of the world’s leading experts as they help you become an artful and irresistable lover. Attractive real life couples explicitly demonstrate adventruous new techniques. Discover uninhibited positions that lead to pleasure, satisfaction, and closeness for a lifetime. Learn how sensual massage and erotic talk can enhance your intimacy and sexual pleasure. Watch together and bring your love life to new heights of sexual intensity.
Darcy explains that the film’s education value for the class is not known, but the student who came forward alleges that the entire class was in shock that the professor chose to show it. Efforts to get a response from the university eventually led to the receipt of the following information from a spokesperson:
The educational video about which you inquired is a 20 minute segment from a longer DVD. This is an element of a 3-unit, semester-long “Introduction to Human Sexuality” general education course that explores physiological, psychological, social, cultural and developmental considerations for life-long understanding related to sexuality. It is not a required course. Students who take the course are advised, in advance, that they may find some content objectionable and that they may opt out at their discretion. Since material is provided in a variety of formats, students have the opportunity to gain course content for assignments and exams without being required to view material they may find objectionable.
California State University, Fresno is a public institution and based on the spokesperson’s response, the school is claiming that students were warned about the content prior to taking the class. Still, it is odd to consider that such an explicit video — which seems to be more of a prescription for relationship healing than anything else — would be shown in a college-setting.

Without subsidized coverage, pornography, as you know, can cost over $3,000 during school. For a lot of students who are on public interest scholarships, that’s practically an entire summer’s salary.

Posted on April 13, 2012 at 12:20pmThey are teaching children that they can do what they want, when they want without consequences. I’ve got college students now who do not come to class, who never did any of the homework for the last ten weeks coming to me now asking “can I do enough work to pass the class.” If I allowed them to do that, what message am I sending to those students who worked hard all semester?
As far as this class I have no problem if the class is an elective. Those who are going into the couples or sex therapy industry need a class like this. I think what Snow is saying and if I misunderstand Snow, please correct me. Some of the college classes offered do more harm than good. When you teach a class like this, care must be taken when presenting the information in a clinical stance rather than a “free for all” sexual orgy. Teaching sexual positions might be much for a introduction type class. This would be more suited for a 3rd or 4th year therapy major.

The lazy ass teacher did not want to teach and decided to show a movie (it happens more and more at ever educational level). Since she was a sex ed teacher she had to show porn. They are all fools, the teacher who teaches the course and the students that take it. They deserve each other.

This week showed a short version of J-Lo & her new video….I am in my 60′s & I was uncomfortable to see the moves J-Lo & a man were doing on prime-time viewing. J-Lo is a beautiful & talented woman but what was she thinking to show such an adult video (later heard there are more “creative” portions of the video) when children are watching this popular show. Very inappropriate & tacky for prime time viewing……So guess this film in a college class must be the sign of the times that anything goes.

Posted on April 13, 2012 at 8:33amAs a psychology student, it has been my experience that all human sexuality courses are based on pornography. I’m not sure why this is so surprising. The theory is that the student gets sensitized so they can work with individuals who are struggling with sexual issues without being shocked by the content of their story.

Posted on April 13, 2012 at 8:24amJust one of the many reasons that the cost of a college education has skyrocketed. The main purpose of these so called classes is to give some liberal professor a job that otherwise would be able to get one. Why do kids waste their time on “non required” classes. Same goes for colleges to require one or two “social science” classes for every major. All these classes do is to give a tenured idiot a job.
