Rep. Moran: Allen West ‘Is Not Representative of the African-American Community’

Are you starting to think that Rep. Allen West’s infamous “get the hell out” line is being overplayed and over-analyzed? You’re not alone.

However, it seems that some media outlets can’t get enough of it.

While being interviewed by MSNBCs’ Martin Bashir, Rep. Jim Moran (D-VA) was asked to weigh in on the comments Rep. West had for Democrat leadership.

“What is provoking this kind of behavior?” Bashir asked. “We had the spectacle of a discourteous governor from Arizona waving her finger in the face of the president. Now we have a Congressman suggesting that a president who won a majority at the last election should ‘get out’ of this country.”

Rep. Jim Moran Talks to Martin Bashir About Allen West and the African American CommunityWagging you finger is inappropriate, but jabbing is acceptable

After comparing conservative criticism for President Obama to a Disney cartoon, Rep. Moran launched into a heavy-handed rebuke of Rep. West.

“People like Mr. [Allen] West, and Governor Brewer and so on, particularly Mr. West, is not only not representative of the African-American community,” said Rep. Moran, who, among other things, is apparently a spokesman for the African-American community, “Or of the Republican Party, let alone of the American public. So what he says really is of little or no consequence, but it’s unfortunate.”

Watch the exchange via Mediaite:

“He just seems clueless now that he has climbed aboard ship. He‘s climbed this ladder of opportunity that was constructed by so many of his ancestors’ sweat, sacrifice, blood, you know they did everything they could for his generation to be successful,” Rep. Moran said.

“But now that he’s climbed on board ship, instead of reaching down and steadying the ladder, he wants to push it off. ‘I’m up here. If you’re not with me, too bad.’ And President Obama, fortunately, is the kind of guy that says ‘I was very fortunate to get where I am and I’m going to spend my life trying to steady that ladder of opportunity by reducing college tuition and training our workers, trying to get a decent job for everybody. Making sure that while I’m African-American, it really doesn’t matter. What matters is my commitment to public service, my love for this country and I’m going to leave a constructive legacy,’” he said.

Rep. Moran went on to say that President Obama “doesn’t engage in this nonsense” and that, to some extent, “he’s our Lion King.”

Rep. Jim Moran Talks to Martin Bashir About Allen West and the African American Community[Author's note: As the Saul Alinsky quote on the frontpage suggests, this recent obsession over Rep. West's comments may be about much more than righteous indignation and hurt feelings.]

I wonder if these folks and the rest of the goofy libs would say they “ Identify” with Abraham Lincoln. I think most would say yes. In any case heres something he said.
“Property is the fruit of labor…. It is desirable…..Is a positive good in the world. That some should be rich shows that others may become rich, and hence is just encouragement to industry and enterprise. Let not him who is houseless pull down the house of another; but let him labor diligently and build one for himself, this by example assuring that his own shall be safe from violence when built.
      Abraham Lincoln

I think you can defer from this simple statement whats wrong with our country.

Formerlib, that’s exactly what I was going to say. The Democrats have turned most of the “African-American” community into slaves who don’t want to lose their checks. I put that in quotes because I know someone who is actually from Africa. Most American blacks never saw Africa. I have a friend that my husband and I have been trying to wake up with actual footage and the words spoken by our president and she told us to take her off our email list because she’s a Democrat. I told her there were no Democrats left in Washington and she’d better wake up. But, she’s on Disability, assisted rent, probably everything else, because all 4 of her children have Blackberries (even the 12 year old) and the even use ebonics when they type on facebook. They would never vote for someone who might take away their free stuff.

It’s good to see the left finally letting slip that they view Obama as a king. Let me give, if you will be so kind as to listen, a reader’s digest version of something we are taught in my faith. In the Book of Alma, the ancient Nephite society was nearly destroyed when a group called the king-men tried to usurp the republican-style judicial government and enact a monarchy. These king-men were so desirous to destroy liberty that they actually sided with the enemies of the Nephites, hoping that, once the land was destroyed, they could easily take power. The only way Captain Moroni (a.k.a. Captain Hardcore) could stop the king-men was to forcefully evict them from the land. It was not a good time, to say the least.

This is a dangerous time in which we are living. The only way to preserve freedom is to evict tyranny – not placate, not ignore, not sequester. It must be evicted, first from our minds through persuasion and debate, then families, homes and churches through the teachings of truth, honor, and charity. And if after all this there is still tyranny, then it must be removed from our shores by force. History cannot be denied.

And it’s just like a Democrat to not understand that words matter – or did that cease with the intellectually-vapid, emotionally-driven election of “King” Obama? Did suddenly human psychology change (ever heard of Freudian slips?)? And by the way, the whole “racist” thing has grown tired; it virtually has no meaning other than an empty insult used by liberals to try and intimidate those they consider political enemies. It is used with literally no evidence, just as you are doing now, with hopes that somehow the insult will stick and others will begin to think like you do. Grow up, my small-minded friend.

They say he’s not representative of the “black community” because they (they being the liberal left who continue to addict them on welfare) have broken the spirit of the black community so thoroughly that they don’t have the will to speak out and decide their own fate for themselves. They only follow what their community organizers say. That, or they all have misguided dreams of becoming rappers or basketball players. That’s why when you do have successful black leaders whose success they achieved themselves (without the help of others, as Obama wants everyone to believe is the only way to success), they’re attacked relentlessly in the media.

Herman Cain was blasted out of the presidential race with the flimsiest of evidence when people started to believe in him as a self-made business man. Now, Allen West is their target as a man who worked hard to achieve his success serving his country in the military and who wants to emphatically tell the black community that they don’t need community organizers or welfare to be successful too.

These ideas are dangerous for the black community, because it will allow them to break the shackles of the nanny state from the liberal left and reject big government ideas of welfare. Men like West and Cain are dangerous to liberals because they show the black community that they too can succeed if they work hard.
