“God’s quarterback” is America’s favorite athlete.
A monthly ESPN Sports Poll calculated that Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow is now America’s favorite active pro athlete. Tebow ranked first on the list ahead of Kobe Bryant, Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning and Tom Brady in December’s top-five results. The poll results were gathered from 1,502 interviews from a nationally representative sample of Americans ages 12 and older.
“To put this in perspective, Tim Tebow rose to the top before the end of his second pro season. It took Tiger Woods three years, LeBron James eight years and Kobe Bryant 11 years,” Rich Luker, founder and director of the ESPN Sports Poll, said. “I think we may be at the front end of a new era in sports stars.”
The news of Tebow’s growing popularity is only the latest in a string of good press for the faithful Floridian now leading the Denver Broncos. After beating the odds in coming off the bench to start for the struggling team, he went on to lead the Broncos to an AFC West division title. Tebow had arguably the best game of his pro career last Sunday in an OT win over the favored Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the NFL playoffs.
Rumors are also spreading that Tebow may be soon linked romantically to the recently divorced Pop Star Katy Perry.
“’[Katy's] mentioned on more than one occasion how much she likes Tim,’ a source tells OK! magazine.’Katy’s mom firmly believes the best cure for heartache is to quickly fall in love again… In her mind, Tebow is the perfect guy for her daughter. He’s handsome, charming, intelligent and above all, a good Christian.’
Katy’s parents have gone as far as inviting Tim to speak at the church Katy used to sing at in Huntington Beach, Calif. Of course — when Katy will be there!”
It has been a good week for Tebow. Fans hope he will continue to ride high during his second round playoff game against the New England Patriots Saturday.

Posted on January 11, 2012 at 4:31pmDoes anyone wonder why people used to be crucified on a cross “A cross?” Why, when there were other ways to dispose of people? Almost as if it’s because they crossed the system, perhaps it was a way of thinking? To cross a system? As in “Short circuit” the system. And so they were crucified where to adjoining trees were connected together. People were crucified when they crossed the status-quo. Isn‘t it kind of odd that there isn’t any crosses remaining that people were crucified on? Kind of just as odd that a giant Ark (supposedly a ship cannot be found anywhere)…..hmmm?
Report Post »Eliasim
Posted on January 11, 2012 at 4:41pmAnd they will say “Well the pieces were most likely used for building other things.” Oh, so, one man can get wood to build an entire ship, and yet wood was in short supply? Well, what about the twig the dove brought back? There must have been wood? Maybe the cross is a reminder of the way Jesus crosses our lives? Yes I think that’s what it is.

Posted on January 11, 2012 at 4:55pmI believe the crucifixion was invented by the Romans as a slow and painful means of death. They didn’t attach any religious meaning to it, it was just an uncomfortable slow and painful way to kill someone. That’s it, no more than that.

Posted on January 11, 2012 at 4:57pmI’ll tell you what the Nazi symbol stands for. It is reminiscent of the crucifix – correct? Yet it is a combination of four bent lines. It is a symbol of the way “They” slam on their brakes (so to speak), and they go in hot pursuit to prevent the system from getting short circuited to their own benefit, but not yours no matter who they have to dispose of.
Report Post »Eliasim
Posted on January 11, 2012 at 5:03pmRegdunlop,
Report Post »Oh, so let me get this straight then. They were high up on a crucifix back then, and it was customary to break the persons legs to make sure they were indeed dead. And yet somehow, you think they reached up high in the air to the person to break the legs? “Belief” is a combination of logic and faith, and not blind faith, but a reasonable faith that doesn’t belong to the dumb.

Posted on January 11, 2012 at 8:24pmOk, first off, you have no clue what you’re talking about. Second, a cross was used because it was extremely painful, as well as humiliating. The purpose was to make people suffer before they died. It stretched people out, which left them out for “public display”; aka, the humiliation part. Crucifixion also dates back a considerable ways – even earlier than Rome. Also there is actual archeological evidence of crucifixion. Third, do you know how long ago the ark would have been? Wood does rot you know; it is biodegradable. Fourth, they didn’t “reach up high” to break people’s legs – they typically used metal maces/clubs. Fifth, you aren’t even close to the reason why a cross is an important symbol. Go look it up. Sixth, the swastika, which you were for some reason trying to connect with the cross, dates back to ancient India. I could keep going on with all of the incorrect information you provided, but I think you see my point.

I like Tim Tebow as a person and wish him success but this doesn’t surprise me at all seeming as how many people identify themselves as Christians.
The blaze is the epitome of Tim Tebow fanboys.
When they went on their big win streak, all you heard about was what Tebow was doing on the field and he “just wins.”
During their 3 game streak in which he played terrible, all you saw on the blaze were skits about SNL, Bill Maher and other people “attacking” Tebow.
Then he has a good game on Sunday and wins in a dramatic fashion and the Blaze can’t rush fast enough to post another article about his on the field performance.
Tebow had a good game on Sunday, and I’ve always left my analysis of him on the field. When he plays well, I say it and when he doesn’t play well I say it. I don’t care that he prays on the sideline, or after a touchdown or whatever. He‘s a great guy and a great role model but I don’t think he should be shielded from legitimate football criticism because he’s a Christian.

Posted on January 11, 2012 at 4:34pmI think by now everyone here is well aware of your h8tred for all things God. Therefore, it is no surprise to find you commenting here.
However, I applaud you at least made an attempt to not be overtly h8teful in your comment. no sarc. intended.
Your point, however – that people were offended by criticism of Tebow’s athletic performance – is simply incorrect. Most non-football-professionals accept they are not equipped to critique a players prowess – especially one playing the most complex of positions. One might argue even “pundits” are not so equipped (including paid scouts), since – at least in Tebow’s situation – they were, pretty much, wrong.
What you appear to have missed is that people were offended by the ANTI-CHRISTIAN h8tred (you know, the Bill Maher kind). THIS is what was primarily leveled at Tebow – especially during the win streak. Seems it especially gals your fellow travelers when a Christian is not apologetic about his/her faith, and ESPECIALLY if that Christian is successful and a sort of role model. Insecurity, I suppose. It was not objective critique but snarky, h8teful slander. you know – whatever the Christian equivalent of antisemitism is.
Cheers!

But really, Tebow was a great college quarterback, and, with good instruction, he’ll be a great pro quarterback. I know his teamates always rally behind him. They did in college and they are doing it in the pros. That’s because he plays hard, he’ll take one on the chin and give you one on the chin too. With that said, I hope they beat the Pats this weekend but, Brady and the Pats are very hard to beat. I don’t think the Broncos are a Superbowl team yet, but by next year, they will be a real contender.

Heh. Yeah, just what Tebow needs, the affections of the girl who “kissed a girl” and liked it, and who just got divorced not 2 weeks ago.
Tebow seems like a great guy, and he was an excellent college QB. He’s got potential to become even better in the NFL, but it’ll take luck to not get injured as he relies heavily on his rushing prowess. I have almost no doubt that Tom Brady and the Patriots will crush the Broncos, however (again, I might add).
