Esquire Runs Fake Story About Birther Book Getting Pulled Editor Threatens LawsuitRemember the birther book by James Corsi that was unveiled to much fanfare a month ago? It’s the one titled, “Where’s the Birth Certificate? The Case That Barack Obama is Not Eligible to be President.” Well, if you read Esquire’s website this morning, you would have known that the book has been pulled:

In a stunning development one day after the release of Where’s the Birth Certificate? The Case that Barack Obama is not Eligible to be President, by Dr. Jerome Corsi, World Net Daily Editor and Chief Executive Officer Joseph Farah has announced plans to recall and pulp the entire 200,000 first printing run of the book, as well as announcing an offer to refund the purchase price to anyone who has already bought either a hard copy or electronic download of the book.

In an exclusive interview, a reflective Farah, who wrote the book‘s foreword and also published Corsi’s earlier best-selling work, Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak out Against John Kerry and Capricorn One: NASA, JFK, and the Great “Moon Landing” Cover-Up, said that after much serious reflection, he could not go forward with the project. “I believe with all my heart that Barack Obama is destroying this country, and I will continue to stand against his administration at every turn, but in light of recent events, this book has become problematic, and contains what I now believe to be factual inaccuracies,” he said this morning. “I cannot in good conscience publish it and expect anyone to believe it.”

When asked if he had any plans to publish a corrected version of the book, he said cryptically, “There is no book.” Farah declined to comment on his discussions of the matter with Corsi.

Except there’s one problem — the book hasn’t been pulled. And the story was a satirical fabrication. About an hour and a half after it was published, Esquire posted an update:

UPDATE, 12:25 p.m., for those who didn’t figure it out yet, and the many on Twitter for whom it took a while: We committed satire this morning to point out the problems with selling and marketing a book that has had its core premise and reason to exist gutted by the news cycle, several weeks in advance of publication. Are its author and publisher chastened? Well, no. They double down, and accuse the President of the United States of perpetrating a fraud on the world by having released a forged birth certificate. Not because this claim is in any way based on reality, but to hold their terribly gullible audience captive to their lies, and to sell books. This is despicable, and deserves only ridicule. That’s why we committed satire in the matter of the Corsi book. Hell, even the president has a sense of humor about it all. But there are plenty of people who aren’t finding the article funny. Chief among them is one of the people quoted in the fake story, World Net Daily editor Joseph Farah. In an interview with Talking Points Memo, Farah said he’s considering his “legal options” against Esquire:

“Don’t believe everything you read,” Farah said in an interview with TPM on Wednesday.

“The only hint at the parody was the made up name of Jerry’s book about the moon landing or something, and I had to do a double take and read it two or three times in astonishment before I even caught that,” Farah said.

“But judging from the response of our peers at Politico and the Daily Caller and all the other media calling me, I think that went right by a lot of folks,” Farah said. “And it certainly went by a lot of ordinary readers. I‘ve been under siege here with people saying ’Why are you going after Corsi! What are you doing?’”

Farah said he’s already exploring his legal options against the publication.

“Obviously if it was intended as a parody, it was not very well executed, and quite honestly I can tell you that I believe there’s some very real damage done by this article, and I’m exploring our legal options right now,” Farah said. “I think there are potentially some issues like restraint of trade and possibly libel, I think most people looked at that article and believed I actually said those words, that is a real problem for Esquire.”

The obvious news here, then, is that Farah still believes the president is ineligible to be president. The birth certificate is “bogus,” he told TPM, and the president isn’t a “natural-born” citizen since his father wasn’t born in the U.S. He concedes that that point makes far more presidents than just Obama ineligible.

“I don‘t care if there’s 26 American Presidents who got by breaking the constitutional requirements. I wasn’t alive for any of them, I promise you that. And if I had been, I would have done everything I’m doing right now to oppose them because I believe in the Constitution,” Farah told TPM.

Translation: the book is still on schedule.

    That’s funny, I just got a notice from Amazon that my copy has been shipped and is on it’s way. I plan on reading from cover to cover, the administration say‘s it’s fiction but I do like to read fiction, that could, very well, become facts some day.
    I did read “1984” way back when and what you know, it is becoming fact.

      The Corsi expose is THE closest to the REAL life of Obama. It is a collective information based on FACTS.

    I just watched Glenn Beck today. He told me how the Liberal Progressives are behaving like the Nazis and want to kill the Jews. He said the Obama administration was in on it too. He has been telling me this all week. He told me that we couldn‘t allow the same thing to happen that happened in Germany in the 1930’s and 1940′s. He said we have to have courage. I know that Glenn always says that we cannot support violence. But i‘m pretty sure he has to say that to make sure he doesn’t get thrown in jail. If these Liberals and Progressives and the Obama administation people are like the Nazis and want to cause another Holocaust, how shall we stop them Glenn? Huh? I’m confused. Shall we just ask them nicely to not do that? I’m like you with the phone waiting for the call from Obama, Glenn. I want you to tell us what we should do now that you have convinced us it is really happening. You always do that Glenn Beck. Mr. Beck says he supports Israel, but he doesn’t have much faith in Israel’s ability to defend itself. A country with 60 to 100 nuclear weapons will sit idly by and allow a another Holocaust? Just on that basic level Mr. Beck is just wildly off the mark. The most fervent right wing Israeli zionists don’t even talk like this.

      I spent last night reading your link. This insider seems like the real deal. He says the BC is just the beginning, with everything linking back to Chicago. He says Obama needs to be Arrested not impeached. What I found most disturbing is that insider says Jarret is the “President”. She feeds him the words he speaks. This makes so much sense considering he is a stuttering idiot when he speaks w/o TOTUS. If you listen to her speak she is full of information. Details cannot come out of her mouth fast enough.
      The layers of deciet are never ending. There is much more to be revealed about this imposter.

    I am really tired of MainStreamNews writing cutting false remarks and then saying “it was satire!” like that gives them free reign to say whatever they want…reminds me of those fraudsters saying I have $1million in Nigeria, Its completely unbelievable yet some people fall for it, which is the point and the FBI has a crime force tracking them down.       The problem I have with Beck on this topic is that while he considers it (the BC question) to be more of an attempt to muddy the waters and the time can be better spent on other projects (which has some merit), at the same time he mocks those who are seriously investigating the defacto president….which I do find to be demeaning to these people. I do wish Beck would just leave the subject alone if he doesn’t support it.

    Obviously Esquire feels intimidated by this book and its content. Otherwise, they would not have wasted their time (and everyone Else’s) writing their “satire.”

    I will purchase the book in multiples. Something is wrong here. The governor of Hawaii searched high and low and could not find Mr. Obama’s birth certificate. Then, suddenly out of thin air, it appears magically and right on time to douse Mr. Trump’s accusations.

    Mr. Obama is a disgraceful, embarrassing, sorry excuse for a president. This subject should have never been brought to light as he has dodged the subject over the years and then criticized and ridiculed those who requested that he produce it. What a tease – what a world class trouble maker. And all for nothing but to torture the American people, create unnecessary controversy and then laugh about doing so.

    Definitely, this book is worth reading. If for no other reason than that so many feel threatened by its existence.

      Obama’s father precluded his being a “natural born citizen” meaning born on U.S. soil of U.S. citizen parents; he is further ineligible by dual citizenship for being born a British citizen pursuant to the British Nationality Act of 1948, as his father was a British citizen of colonial Kenya.[1]

      NBC encompasses citizenship and requires being born of citizen parents. The Art 2, Sec 1, exemption from being a NBC “or a citizen of the United States …” wasn’t needed if NBC means a citizen.

      A NBC also means more than excluding naturalized citizenship. Congressional eligibility already does this by setting 7 and 9 “years a citizen” for House and Senate. With no allowance of years set for POTUS, foreigners would be eligible at naturalization. This incongruity logically proves naturalized citizens aren’t eligible.

      Each authoritative definition of a NBC stipulates citizen parents (plural). First Congress, Ses II, Chp 3, Sec I, 104, 1790: “the children of citizens.” Bingham, House floor, 1866: “of parents not owing allegiance.” Supreme Court, Minor v. Happersett, 1874: “of parents who were its citizens.” Senate Res 511, 2008: “born to American citizens.”

      Otherwise a foreigner and a naturalized citizen’s child, if born on U.S. soil but raised abroad until age 21, at 35 is eligible for POTUS. Equally untenable, is Obama setting a precedent of dual citizens being eligible.

      Duh! It should be obvious that Mr. Corsi will publish his book no matter what else happens. There is a market of collectors and true believers such as Farah who do not let the lame stream media tell us what to believe!

      There is a thrilling and shocking story here, that Corsi spent good time putting together and a bunch of subsequent “game changing” and so called facts are NOT going to stop this very well written and exciting read!

      What I find fascinating here is how the Left seems hell bent on criticizing any dissenting position. The President showed his birth certificate and most people were happy with that. You would think that the “irrelevant media” would then move on and ignore those who insists on the birther issue. But no! Why is “the Left” so obsessed with censoring dissent on this issue? It makes no sense. If these guys are indeed full of what makes the flowers grow, then they will self-destruct and that will be that. Why lend credibility to something that has been discredited?

      No it doesn’t. There are only two kinds of citizens, natural born and naturalized. A natural born citizen is anyone who is a citizen by birth There is a requirement for how many years a House or Senate candidate must have been a citizen, but none for the President because it would be redundant – for a natural born citizen their age and number of years they have been a citizen are the same thing. This is not an incongruity and proves nothing.

      Each authoritative definition of a NBC stipulates citizen parents (plural).
      There never was an authoritative definition until the Supreme Court ruled on the issue in 1898 and they said the opposite:

      … every child born in England of alien parents was a natural-born subject, unless the child of an ambassador or other diplomatic agent of a foreign state, or of an alien enemy in hostile occupation of the place where the child was born. III. The same rule was in force in all the English colonies upon this continent down to the time of the Declaration of Independence, and in the United States afterwards, and continued to prevail under the constitution as originally established.

      Since all the opinions on the subject that you cite are from before then, they don’t matter.

      Chet Hempstead: I’m just curious. By your definition a Chinese National could be visiting Atlanta GA meet an American woman have a baby raise the baby in the US for a 18 months travel back to China live for 35 years and then come back to the US and be eligible to run for President of the US?

      That would be insane man.. Might as well not have a border or even a nation if that is the case.

      It’s best to ignore trolls as they normally just go away, however I see you are still a fan. Your propaganda is certainly amusing, if good for nothing else. Try misinterpreting the Constitution.

      U.S. Constitution – Article 2 Section 1
      “No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.”

      NBC encompasses citizenship and requires being born of citizen parents. The Art 2, Sec 1, exemption from being a NBC “or a citizen of the United States …” wasn’t needed if NBC just means a citizen.

      If we believed you rather than the Constitution, Osama Bin Laden and a naturalized citizen, could have had a child born on U.S. soil but raised overseas until age 21, then in 14 years Obama, oops I mean Osama Jr., would be eligible for POTUS.

      Obama’s father precluded his being a “natural born citizen” meaning born on U.S. soil of U.S. citizen parents; he is further ineligible by dual citizenship for being born a British citizen pursuant to the British Nationality Act of 1948, as his father was a British citizen of colonial Kenya.[1]

      You’re just repeating yourself, as if misinformation was magic and if you say it three times it will make it true. I have the Supreme Court on my side, what have you got? You cite one Supreme Court decision, Minor v. Happersett 1874 which doesn’t say what you think it does. The loony websites that are your only source of information always leave out the next bit:

      Some authorities go further and include as citizens children born within the jurisdiction without reference to the citizenship of their parents. As to this class there have been doubts, but never as to the first. For the purposes of this case it is not necessary to solve these doubts.

      Where the Court says that the definition of natural born citizen was never a settled issue, people were still arguing about it, and they weren’t ruling on it one way or the other since it had nothing to do with the case at hand.

      Didn’t you ever notice that no responsible conservative has ever echoed any of this not eligible even if born here garbage? No Republican politician or Fox pundit, no matter how eager they may be to attack the President on any other issue whether fairly or not, none of them will make fools of themselves by spewing claims that they know to be false.

      And yeah, a natural born citizen raised in another country can reclaim his citizenship as an adult and run for President. Under our laws you have to be an adult to give up your citizenship, you can’t have it taken away from

      That’s an interesting case. It think it would probably depend on whether he had willingly claimed Chinese citizenship as an adult, or whether he had never had an opportunity to come here and reclaim his American citizenship before he was 35. If he did run for President, however, I think that he would probably lose, so I’m really not as worried about it as you seem to be.

      Sorry Blazers, We The People and sick of all this nonsence about President Obama’s birth certificate. The BC issue was the only thing Trump had to run on and when it was released, the polling numbers dropped to zero and he, wisely, dropped out.

      The release of the BC was bad timing for Corsi’s book sells I guess. But go buy it please. He hates Obama so he deserves to be rich.

      It’s time to stand up for the Constitution and remove this Red from the White House.. Oh I forgot you don’t like for people to mention the Red Network do you? You’ll be calling a person an anti-Semite before you know for mentioning the word Red right? lol

      Glenn Beck recommended a book a while back by a Christian missionary entitled “The Red Network”.. The author’s name is Elizabeth Dilling. It’s a must read.. Read it and you’ll see why the Media protects Obama.
