A couple that had recently met online were found dead at a shooting range near Kansas City Tuesday. Kansas City Star on the tragedy:
“Police were called to the shooting range at 6201 Robinson Road about 11:20 a.m. and found a man and a woman shot. Police do not think anyone else was involved in the deaths.
‘It was just a spur of the moment thing, them going,’ Christy Gregor, Hilburn’s sister, said late Tuesday. ‘A detective came out and told us she was dead. We don’t know what happened.’
She said she had met the boyfriend, but did not know much about him.
‘He seemed normal,’ Gregor said.”
NBC Action News writes that the police said their report lists the shooting as a murder with Hilburn as the victim, and no word on what led to the shooting.
According to the Kansas City Star, this is not the first time that bullets hit people, not targets, at the “Bullet Hole” shooting range. In March 2010, a man committed suicide there, and three people killed themselves there in 1997. Following the triple-suicide in 1997, the Bullet Hole instituted a 24-hour waiting period for new members.

Posted on September 8, 2011 at 5:49pmWe’re not sure what happened. Bambi just went with him to the range. She was not a big fan of guns. They were over her for dinner a few weeks ago along with a room mates co-workers. 2 weeks later Bambi is dead. Word from invest, the are having hard time getting his true ID. Not sure if his real name was Victor. Even though he has ID from the state. Not good.

Posted on September 8, 2011 at 1:36pmIf he did her in on a motorcycle or a pickup truck she would be just as dead and there would be no story. We will never know how many times that has happened. Even if he met her, raped her and stabbed her to death it would not be as big a story to the media – wonder why?

Posted on September 8, 2011 at 4:53amThey chatted online for weeks and were dying to finally meet one another. She was drop dead gorgeous and he loved killing time with her. I’ve heard of doing belly shots on the first date but this takes it to a new level. On the bright side, they did have blast on their first date and he wasn‘t shootin’ blanks. Somewhere theres a Van Halen song playing…“You Give Love a Bad Name”. Shot to the heart indeed Eddie.

Posted on September 7, 2011 at 7:30pmThey were not “found dead” it was a murder/suicide. People who want to commit suicide often take their lives at ranges to spare their loved ones from finding them at home. They are cowards. Just rent a gun and leave the mess for others to clean up.
Those commenting about the place being a “death trap” seem to blame the location and not the people choosing to commit suicide. This is the first murder of which I am aware at this specific range. Suicides, as reflected in the Blaze article, are not uncommon, not at any range.

Really… Someone is that bad of a shot that they have to go to a shooting range to shoot themselves…
Report Post »RedneckJim
Posted on September 8, 2011 at 12:32amMany ranges rent guns. Some of the people just rent the guns with which to kill themselves. At one of them where I shoot, three people killed themselves last year. The waiting period for new members actually sounds like a good idea.
Report Post »squeaker
Posted on September 8, 2011 at 1:00am@RedneckJim – I didn’t realize so many ranges rent weapons… the waiting period sounds reasonable.
