European ‘Food Terrorists’ Capture & Execute Ronald McDonald Statue

A Finnish group calling themselves the Food Liberation Army first made headlines last month after posting an al-Qaeda-style hostage video online featuring fast-food clown Ronald McDonald.

In their first “proof of life” video, the masked militants threatened to execute the hooded character if the fast food chain did not answer the group’s questions about how it produces its food products and accused the corporate giant of attempting to hide details about its food and manufacturing process — a claim McDonald’s denied.

Captions in the video asked questions like “Why are you not open about the manufacturing process, raw materials and additives used in your products? What are you afraid of?“ and ”How many tons of un-recycled waste do you produce per year? Why do you not publish that figure?”

“If you do not answer all of our questions, we will execute Ronald on Friday 11/02/2011 at 6.30pm,” the group said.

“McDonald’s is always available to engage in constructive conversations with our customers, stakeholders and the media,” a spokesperson said at the time. “This stunt is in very poor taste and not a responsible approach to meaningful dialogue.”

Since McDonald‘s failed to respond to the group’s satisfaction, the so-called Food Liberation Army unveiled a new threatening video this week, depicting the beheading of the iconic character by guillotine. The group claimed “extreme action” was meant to foster “a better and safer food future.”

According to Consumerist, two members of the group were actually arrested by police and the stolen statue of Ronald was recovered. But, as evidenced by the video, the remaining group members went ahead and guillotined a replica.
