Poll: Even a ‘Generic’ Republican Has an Edge Over Obama

Over the past few weeks, at least one poll has shown that Mitt Romney has the ability to potentially beat Barack Obama in 2012 (pending he secures the nomination, of course). Rather than naming names, a separate poll conducted by Gallup and released this past Thursday pits Obama against a “generic” Republican presidential candidate.

The findings appear to corroborate the notion that a GOP contender — at least at this point in the race — may have a real opportunity to steal the White House away from the president. Even a no-name, faceless Republican currently has a five-percentage point edge over Obama. Below, you can see the results for yourself:

Poll: Even a Generic Republican Has an Edge Over Obama

The situation is grim for the president, though the political landscape is ever-changing and November 2012 is a long way off — anything is possible at this point. The American Spectator’s Ross Kaminsky breaks it down:

…the last time the same poll was taken — a month ago — Obama held a three point lead over a Republican-to-be-named-later. Thus, the swing is a large 8 percentage points, an amount which can’t possibly be statistically insignificant. (And again, if it is, then this poll question should never be asked in this way.)

Finally, it’s one thing for an incumbent to trail in polls against a particular opponent. But it’s another thing entirely to trail a generic, nameless, faceless candidate. In the two prior election cycles where there was no front-runner at this point in the election cycle, Gallup polled the question of the incumbent versus a generic member of the other party.

In both cases, the incumbent had a huge lead — although George H.W. Bush ended up losing to Bill Clinton. For Barack Obama to trail a generic Republican right now shows far more weakness than Gallup would have us believe.

What do you think? Will a Republican be able to hold such a lead through to the 2012 election?

Once again, like 2008, the election will come down to how many dead people, illegals, felons, Disney characters, and pets the Democrats can get out for the vote, and how many corrupt Democrat civil servants that can keep the military votes from showing up.

No matter how screwed up our country is, we still need to vote-assuming there are free elections by 2012. If not, we’ll be fighting instead of voting.

I can’t stress enough how important it is that we Tea Partiers unite very strongly against Obama and the Democrats. We MUST CHOOSE OUR OWN PRESIDENT, and not let the mainstream media do it for us by default. Right now, they have that RINO loser Mitt Romney as the front runner, and THEY are promoting him as our frontrunner, hoping to make it come true. He lost early in 2008, and the MSM knows the Dems can beat him again. At least they seem to think so.

That is exactly how we ended up with unwinnable John McCain in 2008. The mainstream media basically chose him for us. Never again.

WE must choose our president. Don’t let the MSM influence your decision. And we need people to get off their butts and vote. No excuses. Our nation is in grave danger right now, though I’m sure you all know that! Please help get the word out to vote, and to vote for OUR candidates, not theirs.

America is still under threat from the Obama administration. Any attack on Obama or response against him, is attacked. So the entire media apparatus of the United States is dead frightened of this shallow, unknown poser presently sitting in the White House.
The media in the United States is completely composed of 100% certifiable cowards, who are scared to death of saying anything against him, so therefore all that they are left to do is praise him, hoping he’ll accidentally fall from his heady perch, or fail to live up to all of his promised expectations, which now seems to be the case. The cowardly media are still holding on to their falsely created facade that Obama’s a messiah superman, even though he’s looking more like a skunk ready to stink up everything he comes in contact with, but the people have his number now and are light years ahead of the nation’s network news media moguls and all of their talking heads. As far as the public‘s concerned Barack Obama’s days are numbered.

I am glad to know (albeit a very scary thought) that I am not the only person who thinks that this just might happen; I would not put it past them as far as I can throw them… I don‘t see them ceding any power and ’progress’ they have made, easily or otherwise, given the victory they perceived they had with Obamacare being voted into law (for now),to give just one example. All the work put into bringing their progressive utopia into fruition to be overthrown due to Obama‘s rash and reckless speedy ’fundamental transformation of America’? I think not… they will desperately cling to power in the same way Chavez took his power in Venezuela at whatever cost they see necessary… I don’t doubt it for one brief second. Basically to even dumb it down so Colmes can understand and digest; a severe case of food poisoning would win in a head-to-head matchup that Hillary Clinton in a thong and whip would garner more support than a lift and separate bra would do in a battle against Rosie O Donnell and Michael Moore.

While I hope and pray that the ‘12 elections will happen peacefully and in accordance to the law with Mr Obama out of office along with the progressives of all sides; I do see a chance that somehow an ‘incident’ or series of them will occur in which they will make a final stand to take power in the fullest way and with force.

Now, I gave a fair to better chance of the same happening in ‘10 when the Democrats lost bigtime in the House, and was wrong there, thankfully. Yet for them to even pull off a scorched earth action in the last lame duck time would not suprise me in the least.

This is what has worried me, ever since I heard Odumber cheerfully proclaiming on TV that it would be OK with him if he was a one-term president . To begin with, every time the man opens his mouth, he LIES. Secondly, with his ego, I just don’t see that being true. And if he is lying (IF?) thenthe truth is that he does not expect to have to RUN for re-election. I know they Demorats are doing their best to portray us as violent nutcases–with a lot of help from their “useful idiot” parrots, and they have been trying their damndest to provike us INTO violence, but so far it has not worked, making it difficult for him to declare martial law. But as he and his masters get increasingly desperate, if they can’t get the real thing (violence from us), they will simply do what they always do and LIE about it and go ahead with the martial law ANYHOW.

Sadly it isn’t every poll that he is losing in… not yet. Romney is definately the front-runner but give the others some time and there will be a real race. I see the top tier being Romney, Pawlenty, Bachmann, and Cain. Perry will soon enter but I don‘t know how he will be taken yet since he has some hard skeleton’s in his closet he will have to work through. This will be a great election… a political superbowl. Here is a recap of the debates early this week: http://tiny.cc/32o5f

American Spectator breaks it down for us: “Thus, the swing is a large 8 percentage points, an amount which can’t possibly be statistically insignificant.” American Spectator, you FAIL.

The poll was plus or minus 4 percentage points. That means each number is plus or minus four percentage points, not the difference. So, according to this poll, President Obama could be either ahead or behind. It’s a statistical dead heat against a “generic” candidate. He’d fair better in a head to head match up.

Cool insults though: farts, spoiled pork, whatever. I didn’t know they let people under 18 post here.

No generic RINO will win against Obama. Why? Because I won’t let them. If we can’t get a real constitutionalist conservative like Ron Paul out of the primaries, I’m voting for Obama. And you will lose all of the Libertarians and Independents to….. well… their respective party. Ron Paul will garner all those votes and bring them to the republican ticket if he wins the nomination. No other candidate can say that.

I would like to see Perry as president Michelle bachmann as VP.
I do not trust any of theses people from ether coast.
I live near Seattle and its ultra liberal agenda.
The same left wing nut cases as New York and other liberal east coast states.
The good people of Texas would have dumped Perry long ago if he were into gun control and over control of peoples lives.
for example Would you call Olympia Snowe a republican, all though she claims to be one?
Consider the ban on drilling in Texas because of a lizard.
They have been drilling for Oil in Texas for ever and the Lizard is still there.
I was in Odessa Texas at one time and they had a drill rig set up in a parking lot along side a drug store in town drilling for oil.
Can you imagine that happening in one of our left wing states?
Perry Is against this kind of intrusion

this article forgets to mention the other part of the study (shocking for the blaze to omit things). when you place any ACTUAL republican nominee against obama, obama beats them by a minimum of 9 points. he has this in the bag, there is no one to run up against him. its all kooks and losers.
