Each Presidential election is surrounded by political cartoons and satire, which are usually left to cartoonists and comedians to dictate. But not anymore. A new program released today allows the general public to create their own animated political cartoon videos — no drawing, downloading or special software required.
GoAnimate, a free suite of web applications that enables users to create their own animated videos, added a collection of political characters and backgrounds focused on the U.S. Presidential election.
“We took notice when many of our user-created videos turned political, even without the appropriate characters and backgrounds,” said Gary Lipkowitz, Vice President of Corporate Development, “Our aim has always been to provide a fun mode of expression for the masses. Candidates and pundits are constantly talking at us, and people are trying to shout back in social media, but most of the tools are just text. So we launched this project to provide rich media feedback tools — to empower everyday people to turn their comments into commentary — whether they’re responding to the debates, campaigning for a cause or recreating key political moments. We can’t wait to see what people create.”
Here’s an example I created featuring Michelle Bachmann and President Barak Obama. All I did was chose the people and the backdrop, inputted text, and wa-la:
Lipkowitz told The Blaze in an email that this program gives users an opportunity to weigh in on what they can only wish the politicians would have said.
“Politicians and lobbyists are talking at us. GoAnimate brings the public into the political conversation and let’s you talk back. And, of course, we all have our opinions,” he said.
Be it Bachmann, Rick Perry, President Obama or John Boehner, you can control their dialogue and even facial expressions through GoAnimate’s computer animate platform.
Take a crack at making your own video here.

Posted on October 18, 2011 at 9:18amI have a question. Why would the blaze post a story about the fast-food restaurant fight, allow a certain number of comments, and then decide to shut off comments when they dont agree with those particular comments? That is not my idea of letting the truth blaze the way. Very disappointing and concerning.

Posted on October 18, 2011 at 6:35amSad as it is, Obama is making bad cops out of many who were I’m sure, good cops. Their doing is bidding, and know in many, many, situations it tarnishes the badge. Here is another interesting fact, see below:
WASHINGTON — If you call a radio talk show and get on the air, you might be recorded by the FBI.
The FBI has awarded a $524,927 contract to a Virginia company to record as much radio news and talk programming as it can find on the Internet.
The FBI says it is not playing big brother by policing the airwaves, but rather seeking access to what airs as potential evidence. Marxism, Marxism Marxism!!!

Actually, NO, TheBlaze.com does NOT have an “AGENDA.”
It has an OBJECTIVE, which is “THE TRUTH.”
But, an “objective” is not the same as an “agneda.”
An “agenda” is a prescribed sequence of events – a plan.
TheBlaze.com follows standards, but, as it reports what HAPPENS each day, that can hardly be called a planned sequence of events, now can it?
Whereas huffnpuff, dailcuss, and mooooveon.org are EDITORIALS with a prescribed methodology of spinning stories to try to make lies look like they are true on the other side of the coin. But in the end, they remain nothing more than twisted LIES
***
Well said! But Blaze doesn’t HAVE TO HAVE AN AGENDA, the left does such a great job of putting all this trash out for us. All Blaze or GBtv or all of talk radio has to do is report on it! They make our points so well, and DISCLOSE THEMSELVES AS THE INCAPABLE OF THINKING CONSTRUCTIVELY EVERYDAY!!!

Take a look at my profile (click username). You‘ll see I’ve been a registered user since August 2010, more or less active since the first day on The Blaze. I haven’t paid a cent. NOT ONE.
I never had to register a credit card. The new Blaze Magazine is free online with a GBTV account, so that doesn’t really count. Tell me where this “legal scam” makes me pay $6 a month to read after 30 days…and how exactly they got the ninety dollars or so I should have been billed.

or “Close to retirement with a 401k that has shrivelled like an old man in a cold swimming pool?”

or “Small businessman having trouble getting credit and scared to death of tax increases and changes in health care laws?”
If not, this is a pretty lame exercise on which I would not waste a second.

Posted on October 18, 2011 at 1:40amLloyd you lumped a lot of situations into one stinky stew. Many of us who bought houses lived in them as they were and did not go after home equity loans so our house would be prettier, many of us single parents worked hard to raise our children without government assistance while we watched (during the Clinton admin. many illegals getting free lunches and ESL buses taking non English students to school while us single ‘working’ moms (American citizens) were told that our children couldn’t ride the bus because it was only for ESL and besides we worked & we weren’t on welfare). THAT was when many of us democrats became Independent voters! Small businesses you say? Hmm, we work our jobs and have a small business to get ahead, we were doing fine in 2006, we were able to hire afterschool workers, they were happy and we trained them. Now we can‘t and they can’t so who wins here?

Posted on October 18, 2011 at 11:44amSuzee: my point was that this program allows you to be Michele Bachmann or Herman Cain or Mitt Romney or Barack Obama trading political witticisms, but does not, apparently, allow you to voice the concerns of ordinary people, whether right, left or center, which most really good political cartooning does.
