‘Every Jew Should Learn About This Day’: World Zionist Organization Reenacts 1947 UN Recognition of Israel

The World Zionist Organization staged a reenactment of the November 29, 1947 recognition of Israel by the United Nations. The event, meant to mirror the one some 64 years earlier, was held in Jerusalem on Tuesday and featured live entertainment as well as an address by Jewish Agency chairman Natan Sharansky.
The U.N. vote gave the British Empire one year to leave the country it had occupied since 1917, after the collapse of the Ottoman Empire.

Other speeches were delivered by World Zionist Organization officials and Knesset Member Danny Danon, chairman of the Knesset Committee for Aliyah, Absorption and Diaspora Affairs.
“We are very happy to be here today to celebrate the decision by the UN in 1947 of a declaration of a Jewish state,” MK Danon told Arutz Sheva.
“I think the main message to the Prime Minister today is not to consider giving any funding to the Palestinian Authority,” he added. “I cannot imagine that [Israel’s first Prime Minister] Ben Gurion would have considered funding a terrorist group.”
According to INN, the Palestinian Authority recently added November 29 to its list of “catastrophes” alongside May 15, the day that Israel declared independence.
In an effort to counter the anti-Zionist, and indeed anti-Semitic incitement, Danon wants to introduce a law that would name November 29, “National Zionism Day.”
“It’s very important that every Jew learn about the significance of this day, in the schools, in the synagogues,” he said. “Everyone should celebrate this marvelous day.”

As far as the monetary values are concerned why don’t you kick at the billions which were and still are being spent in countries such as Korea, Japan, Germany, Bosnia, Taiwan, China, Iraq, Afghanistan, and a hundred other places. But no, you single out a small group of people of less than six million to show that you are Anti Semitic. There are more Jews in America than are in Israel while there are literally millions of Muslims who want the entire Jewish state to vanish. Not that it’s wrong in Islam, but that if these acts should happen, one should wash both yourself and the recipient of the actions, albeit live, dead or whatever, do the right thing and keep yourself clean for prayer times’

As a preface to a point I want to make, let me first say that as a nation, America has no interest or say in how other countries conduct themselves among themselves.
Second, to be sure, the land of Israel belongs to the Jews.
Now, the point I want to make is based on the fact that the UN – then, as well as now – is a violation of the national sovereignty of several countries.
So, it seems to me that back then the UN was not the way to go to secure Israel for the Jews.
Again, the land belongs to the Jews, but I think a lot of countries unwittingly got a bad deal, including the Jews, by dealing with the UN.
America needs to leave the UN.
