‘Everyone Is a Child’: NYC Department of Health Allegedly Mulling ‘Happy Hour’ Ban

The New York Post is reporting that the Department of Health is considering a ban on beer and booze specials in New York City bars and restaurants, and the proposal is apparently serious enough that one source quipped: “the alcohol lobby better find itself a good lawyer.”

While a spokesman for the Department of Health has denied “plans to pursue any policy around discount-alcohol sale,” a source reportedly told the Post: “It’s absolutely been discussed.”

The source continued: “It goes to show you the spirit with which they operate. Everyone is a child.”

The Post elaborates:

[Sources] said the anti-booze sentiment at the agency has reached a fever pitch, with officials recently asking state officials about the “legality of liquor in ice cream,” referring to potent products infused with bourbon, rum and tequila.

A prohibition on discounted drinks is solidly in line with [Commissioner Thomas Farley's] goals, which he outlined in his “Take Care New York 2012” report.

Farley said he aimed to “reduce risky alcohol use,” noting [that] alcohol-related hospitalizations in 2006 were roughly 209 per 100,000 people. His goal was to reduce this number to 170 per 100,000 by this year.

“DOH will advocate for policies that reduce access to alcohol by adolescents and for limits on sales practices in communities and campuses that promote drinking among adolescents and heavy drinking among adults,” the document reads.

Those familiar with the potential policy say Farley is proceeding with caution after his plan to reduce the “density” of alcohol outlets backfired, with Bloomberg apparently furious that he was never informed of the scheme.

“It’s ridiculous,” one New  York bartender, whose bar takes $2 off the price of any beer or hard liquor between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m., remarked.  “With the economy the way it is right now, it’s good to see cheaper prices. We try to be generous to get a good clientele in the door.”

The potential ban leaves many in a state of shock.

Soon, they say, New York will be a ghost town full of skyscrapers, having driven everyone out through excessive taxation or outrageous legislation. Either that, or we’re heading back to the days of prohibition.  New York would be joining 19 other states that have “happy hour” bans.

“What’s next — brunch?,” Tom Shanahan, a lounge owner and lawyer who represents bars and nightclubs, asked.

A writer for MSN maintains: “It just SOUNDS wrong…Why not just cut out the middle man and just outlaw fun!”

So that’s 0.2 percent of hospitalizations. What about the other 99.8 percent of people who are hospitalized? What is the DOH planning for prevention of the other hospitalizations? They are going to screw around with the local economy and public opinion on that scale– not to mention what it means to the tourist industry– for people who would probably find some other way to get their alcohol.

I’m not buying it. There’s another agenda at work here. What about the other 99.8 percent of people who are hospitalized? What is the DOH planning for prevention of the other hospitalizations?

My guess is that banning happy hour would only worsen the problems. Banning it would likely cause people to drive further away to places that still have it. Then they’d be driving drunk longer distances which would cause more accidents. Its not about the price. It’s about personal responsibility and societal problems. The government can’t regulate responsibility nor can it solve societal problems – but they sure know how to cause problems.

Of course it doesn’t mean death for those who do righteous, just death for those who are wicked. It’s kind of like the moon is the father and the earth is the mother, and the moon came to the earth because a son leaves his mother and father to join his wife. Therefore the Father has been here getting the bride ready, and Jesus will come in a giant moon-like ship, coming to the earth which is his bride.

They are showing all of us hints of what they intend to impose on all of us – with particular attention to alcohol.

The reason is quite simple, in a Soviet/Communist super state, there is no incentive whatever to work hard, and true to the model, those under the Communist boot drank like fish. Party officials responded by curtailing the production of spirits. The oppressed people responded by making their own by any means possible – my favorit example was the engine coolant stolen from tractor and truct factories. Workers would drain the coolant and use it to make alocoholic beverages. The vehicles were delivered dry and there was no surplus coolant available to fill them.

So slowly, the global regime is seeking to condition the people to not drink, and like giant snakes, they will slowly strangle the people until there are just enough to keep them well served.

Remember, Communists do not care about life. Individual lives do not matter at all, and their state is the object of their faith.

I think some people in NYC are finally starting to “get it” that Michael Bloomberg is a control freak who considers all citizens to be his subjects and he the king. NYC has lost so many of the things that once made it a truly great city, as near as 10 or 15 years ago. First thing to go was God and Religion. The people were fine with that. Now look what has happened. Pretty soon the entire population will be instructed on what kind of clothes and safety shoes to wear and how to eat…wait, they already have the czars telling people how to eat. Moochelle Obama is the head czar. Rush was telling his audience of an annual cigar party that is held in NYC every year. This time there was a new rule restricting everyone not to light up until after dessert, ala new NYC regulations. The whole point of the party was to enjoy all the different kinds of fine cigars. I think it’s being moved to CA next year. This is what happens when people drop God’s laws and opt for a worldly substitute. When will people learn???
