Ex-College Football Player Caught Pimping in San Jose

On the same day that a former professional basketball player appeared in Los Angeles County Superior court to waive his right to challenge extradition to Georgia in connection to drive-by shooting, an ex-D1 College football player was arrested in San Jose on suspicion of pimping. The San Francisco Chronicle on the trouble that the former University of California Golden Bear half back has run into:

“Tracy Slocum, 23, was arrested Friday by U.S. marshals and Fresno police after a monthlong investigation, said San Jose police Officer Jose Garcia, a department spokesman.

‘Investigators suspect Slocum has operated as a pimp in different cities throughout California over the last several months and possibly longer,’Garcia said.

San Jose police worked with other law-enforcement agencies in the jurisdictions where the alleged crimes occurred, Garcia said. Slocum is being held without bail at Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of domestic violence, pimping and sexual assault.”

Slocum was taken into custody in Fresno on suspicion of domestic violence, acting as a pimp and sexual assault.

The running back spent three years at Cal though he did not play much. He rushed for 125 yards in 11 games in 2008. He then took a year off before joining Fresno State as a walk-on last season. He saw limited action there as a backup.

Reuters reports that former professional basketball player Javaris Crittenton was arrested by FBI agents Monday night in Southern California airport as he checked into a flight to Atlanta. Police in Atlanta had obtained a murder warrant for Crittenton in the Aug. 19 shooting of Jullian Jones, 23, a mother of four young children, as she was walking with two men.

Crittenton’s defense attorney Brian Steel said his client is being falsely accused and the facts will come out at the preliminary hearing.
