Ex-Evangelical Frank Schaeffer: Bachmann ‘Would Replace American Democracy With a Theocracy’

Frank Schaeffer Says Bachmann Wants Iranian Like TheocracyDoes Michele Bachmann want an American government that rules like Iran’s harshly-imposed theocracy?

Back in July, The Blaze reported on ex-evangelical Frank Schaeffer’s claims that Bachmann and those who share her faith perspective hate the United States ”as it is,“ while loving and embracing the vision of ”a fictional, Christian America.” Now, Schaeffer is back with even harsher words about the GOP presidential contender.

In an interview with Pacifica Radio show Democracy Now on Wednesday, Schaeffer spoke with host, Amy Goodman. Among other less-than-flattering statements, he said:

Again, mainstream U.S. America doesn’t understand that people like Michele Bachmann have signed onto Bronze Age mythology, including its misogyny, its homophobia, its racism, and all the rest of it, and that that is the religion they are part of…

Of course, everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, but Schaeffer takes the rhetoric to some bizarrely elevated levels. Rather than settling on the notion that Bachmann is “far right,” he says that she’s a part of the political fringe.

Like Michelle Goldberg, whose article earlier this week claimed that Bachmann and Perry are essentially seeking world domination, Schaeffer claims that Bachmann “would replace American democracy with a theocracy on a Christian level that would mirror something like modern-day Iran after it fell to the Ayatollah Khomeini.”

Below, watch Schaeffer make these harsh statements, among others:

Another adult child of a famous person using their parents fame as a platform to rebel in a grandiose way against Daddy & Mmommy. Who ever heard of this adult child anyway? Who the hell cares what he thinks of his dad’s teachings and followers? This is like wasting your time listening to McCain or Reagan’s whining progeny.

Yes yes, If Bachman was elected president she would abolish the Congress and Senate, Place bishops in the chairs of the Supreme Court Justices and would replace the constitution with the bible. In just 4 short years. Yup. She could TOTALLY do that and NOBODY would be able to stop her if she tried!!!

I can see why people would fear she would have the power to do that, I mean the current president has already established the precedent of ignoring and usurping Congress and the constitution completely.

I wish stories like this would not even get traction. Leave this mindless crap out in the un-viewed obscurity that is mainstream media.

What part of having representatives don’t they understand. People don’t vote on every bill that comes through the govt, our representatives do. This is why anything else they say is automatically downgraded to just above idiotic.

I will prove this point with the WH trying to defend Obama’s vacation: http://url2it.com/grsk. When it starts with non-transparent, lying politicians, you automatically have to start disbelieving the next things to come out of their mouths.

How is what Schaeffer said any different from what is said time and time again both on this site and within the sphere of conservative media? Constant acusations of attempts to “fundamentally change the american way of life” or the use of “extreme left wing ideology” and other buzz phrases aimed directly at any liberal commentator, politician, or anyone that may have a dissenting view incongruent with those of your own. Don’t get me wrong, both sides are just as guilty, but it seems to be far more blatant with a dash more “christian” hate slipped in. Granted it has always been this way in US politics. My favorite of the founders even shot someone over it! That doesn’t make it okay to continue though. Maybe one day we can talk over these issues like adults, but I doubt it will be in anyone walking the earth’s lifetime.

It is the way of the offspring to rebel and try to be their own discoverers of unexplored knowledge and to prove their parents wrong rather than to honor their parent’s magnificent contributions to sound and moral judgement and behavior. It sounds to me like Frank fell down with a man and is working out some issues, like Ronald Reagan’s confused son, and Chaney’s lesbian daughter.

I personally tend to lean a little libertarian when it comes to birth control, but totally against abortion. But Frank is one sperm cell that would have been more useful to humanity if it didn’t win the swim contest to the egg. He is putting an incredible amount of time and effort into trying to undo every good thing his father spent a lifetime teaching.

How sad is that. I don’t care what sort of contradictions Frank may have encountered in his private time with his father and family. That doesn’t justify him completely flipping over to the atheist, God-hating, liberal, camp, approving, and endorsing immoral behavior and total lack of self control. Whether his father was perfect or not, Frank is not at all justified in his position for 2 reasons. (1) He’s lying, and (2) He is totally contradicting biblical standards of morality. This guy is just trying to be important and get his uninteresting, non-selling book into circulation.

Duh, she’s a DOMINIONIST, the same philosophy that fuels NEO-NAZIS! Let’s say, for argument’s sake, a Christian Theocracy is established in the US. Where are YOU going to be when it pushes the tenets of a denomination other than YOURS? This sort of thing is a threat to the diversity of Christianity in the US. But this has always been a goal of the Right; cultural homogenization. You could be the one labeled “different” or “apostate” in such as case. What then?

Not to poo-poo you… but I’ve been hearing this claim a lot recently (on Al Jazeera and then a op-ed talked about here on the Blaze). But each time I hear it, the most I hear for facts is “She knows a guy who might be part of a group that has vaguely dominionist ideas.”

I have NO doubt Bachmann is evangelical and passionate about her faith. But a dominionist? I don’t think so. If you do have some information on specific references to Bachmann endorsing or sponsoring dominionism, I’d be glad to know of them. I wouldn‘t say it’s impossible; but I would say it’s much more likely that conspiracy theorists see whatever they want.

For over 20 years, Obama belonged to a church where the pastor wanted God to damn America. He was admittedly mentored by a self professed communist and started his political career in the home of a domestic terrorist and none of that had any influence on him.

Michelle Bachmann knows a guy who MIGHT be part of a group that has vaguely dominionist ideas and that’s absolute proof that she intends to bypass congress and the courts and turn America into a theocracy.

I would wish to add to my previous statement.. I could get very lenghtly in my response here. I will try to keep it simple. I am actually NOT judging his heart. I believe that he does indeed desire to do “good”. I do on occasion pray for him. I am just making mention as to the spirit that guides him. I do not know what kind of engine is in the car but I can see the direction it takes. We are called to walk in the spirit, when we do this it opens us up to impossibilities of living otherwise. We as christians are called into a personal relationship with Christ, this means that God can tell me anything he wants. He has been good to me!!! Nothing I say or do should be outside/condradict His teaching (the bible). Many of my christian friends are also realizing who he is. EVERY TIME I have heard him quote scripture he mis-uses it. There is one in the bible that did the same! I also had a vision concerning this issue, Visions and dreams are mentioned in the bible as a way that God communcates I could continue. I try not to speak abruptly or foolishly and I certainly try to keep in bounds of Gods Word. I want everything God is willing to give me and I don’t particularly care about the leash that men would try to put on me. If I go against the ways of the world so be it, it is exactly as it should be…..any more questions?

If you did you would know that our Constitution was written by bunch of Christian Evangelical types who were of different denominations and yes there was an atheist there to, but no it wasn’t Thomas Jefferson. They payed everyday about what they were doing, referred to the Bible for wisdom and wrote the Constitution based on Biblical principals, values, and laws.
Then they had enough sense to write the first amendment is stating the government can not establish a religion nor interfere with the freedom to practice your religion. Theocracy prevented.

If by “Christian theocracy” you mean Jesus’ reign on earth, absolutely. We not only pray for that day (Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven), but we KNOW the King is coming.

By contrast a “Christian theocracy” a la Islamic theo-political regimes is as anti-Christian as it gets. First, because God will not share his glory with any man. Second, because man was not created to have dominion over other men. That is Satan/Allah’s MO, not God’s.

That said, this country was founded on Judeo-Christian PRINCIPLES and mores, and we Christians want those principles and mores upheld. It does not mean we reject other faiths. What we vehemently stand against is the commie/Islamic attempts to destroy our foundations and our heritage.

‘The facts speak for themselves: We exercise tolerance; they don’t. I don’t see millions of people trying to enter Iran or Russia, except for a handful of young, dumb libs, who then scream for help to get out of there. America is the land of the free — or was until Obum came along.

Jesus doesn’t force anyone to follow him. At one point many of the freeloaders who were following him walked away, and He turned to the twelve and asked them if they wanted to leave too. Fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom…this is written numerious times in the bible, so there is really NO surprise at the manner our present government governs. If we want to get this nation RIGHT, we need to vote for RIGHTiousness. We ourselfs need to be the same!

It’s weird to be considered on the political fringe by people who are on the fringe. He is basically saying that all Christians are racist, sexist, bigoted homophobes. there is no truth to his bigoted assertion. This is how liberal brains work. They accuse us of doing exactly what they are doing. They know how wretched and disturbed they are so they can’t imagine that good exists in anyone. The tea party may have elements of a spiritual movement but liberalism is a bowel movement.

Liberals tend to worry about racism because they have racist views. Liberals feel guilty both by association and because when they see a minority they view them as incapable. For example, they feel guilty about slavery in the south. When a liberal sees a black person they feel they need to compensate for something and engage in buttkissing and treating that person in a phony manner. Conservatives tend to treat everyone the same and judge by character. A conservative can be best friends with a person from Mexico but be irritated by another who has been here for 20 years and not bothered to learn English. Conservatives want to include others and have them assimilate into our culture. A liberal will assimilate into the culture of the foriegner. They do this not out of love but out of a misplaced sense of guilt. They feel this guilt because they view themselves as being advantaged and others as inferior. Often times this guilt comes from having parents who worked very hard and made sacrifices while they themselves have done little and are selfish. They don’t love their self-sacrificing parents, they envy them. So, they try to tear down every advantage people like their parents had by creating a socialist system. They destroy the very people that would do the same as their hard working parents in the process.

Example: We elected the first black President, sort of, his mother is white so everyone can be comfortable with that. You ask them, “Who is this first black president”? They say, “Who cares? He is the first black President?” You say, “Who cares? What does he stand for? What will he do for the country?” They say, “How dare you ask questions? Don’t you know he is black? You must be racist!” We say, “Yes his father was a communist from Africa and his mother was a communist from the U.S., we see he has african and american ancestry but it appears he might have some communist influences in his background.” They say, “You racist!” Meanwhile this President of theirs that you aren‘t allowed to critisize goes after a tiny nation called Israel and helps to destroy them even though they were almost wiped out by another fascist country in the 1940’s. We are supposed to defend Obama because he is half black rather than defend jews who are actually under attack. Makes sense doesn’t it. Identity policks at it’s worst.

No, she would not. You people are stupid idiots. No Christian I know of or have ever heard of wants a theocracy. Preposterous! No Christian wants to use the Bible as the Constitution-they want the Constitution to be the Bible of government. This is just another Christophobe trying to smear Christianity in the minds of the ignorant. Were it not for Christianity this country would have never existed. It’s no coincidence that the people trying to destroy this country also hate Christianity. The root cause of liberalism is hatred for what the Bible says.

People who spout off about theocracies when no one is raising the specter of religious laws except them are not to be taken seriously. The ideas that supporting moral laws which are themselves supported by religion is the same as state enforcement of religion is a ridiculous argument that shouldn’t justify refutation. But we live in idiotic times when idotic arguments are taken seriously.
