Ex NBA Star Javaris Crittenton Wanted For Murder

Police said late Friday that former NBA player Javaris Crittenton, who was once suspended by the league over guns in the locker room, has been charged with murder after a woman was shot on an Atlanta street.

According to a report by the Associated Press, police have secured a murder warrant for the arrest of Crittenton in connection with the shooting death of 22-year-old Jullian Jones on Aug. 19. Police spokesman Carlos Campos said Crittenton is not in custody and is wanted.

Atlanta police Maj. Keith Meadows told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Friday night that Crittenton is believed to be in the Los Angeles area. He said the FBI is involved in the investigation.

The victim, a mother of four, was walking with a group of people when an SUV drove by and she was shot by one of the vehicle’s passengers, police said.

It is believed by investigators that the woman was not the intended target but was instead the unfortunate victim of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Campos said the motive appears to be retaliation for a robbery in April, in which Crittenton was a victim, Campos said in a statement.

For those unfamiliar with Crittenton illustrious career, he most recently played in the NBA with the Washington Wizards and was involved in a gun altercation with Gilbert Arenas. For that, he was given a 38-game suspension by the NBA after he and Arenas acknowledged that they brought guns into the locker room following an argument that stemmed from a card game.

Crittenton pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor gun charge on Jan. 25, 2010 and received probation. For obvious reasons, he wasn’t re-signed by the Wizards.

Having already exposed a seemingly sanguinary streak, his career did not look promising. This most recent opprobrium will surely mark the last, dying ember of his swift, albeit memorable, foray into professional athletics.

I know only a hand full of the good ones, but they are true Christians and not sitting in the pews of some r acist M uslim community h ate organizer. This type of behavior seems to run in their DNA. The media is going all out “for some reason” to hide the r acial identity of the violent crowds. Just like making every person w hite in the US to go through the TSA screenings at airports.We all have to accept and suffer. We have them in this country because of the M uslims or the S paniards selling them, They were H ead H unters and were living just fine. It‘s true that cop’s and discovery id wouldn’t have nearly as much material without them, but then everytime I see one of them in the picture..I just get bored. Just another rape murder and rob.

      it is sad when we see “gifted’ sports stars at many levels fall from grace ..it makes me wonder if College sports and the attitude of if you aint #1 you aint “sh*T” needs to be rethought as college sports is nothing more than a cash cow for many institutions..and i never read in any big named schools founding chaters that they exist to be #1 in sports anywhere…Odd isn’t it? after all how many Hiesman trophy winners ever got a Noble prize..or nominations for that matter…

      V is kind of right…if you research most of the conflicts the U.S. has been in after WW2 they where started over some bureaucrats vision of money making…now as for the soldiers V …i can’t place the blame on these men….following a miss guided leader is not the fault of the follower….soldiers follow orders…it’s the same as i feel about these “evil terrorist countries”…take Libya for example …those soldiers are now on death row for being a soldier…the leader of the country may or may not have been the root of all evil but the soldier was there to provide for his family…to call them the loyalists not soldiers put them on death row…just for being a solder…they no longer are fighting the so called rebels because of loyalty …they now fight because they have no choice …there is no where for them to turn…there was a day that all soldiers where held to a code and where treated accordingly…that is where the “savage nation” term came from…the nations that wouldn’t treat soldiers with the respect soldiers deserve ….the leaders of the soldier are the ones at fault (except the few bad soldiers out there) not the ones following orders …

    Why do people find it necessary to say “stop the r_acist” comments? I find that to be so silly. Whatever happened to “words will never hurt me”? Come on, some idiot killed someone, someone mind you that had four kids by age 22. No issue with four kids by 22 if she is supporting them. She didn’t deserve to get killed in any case. This does give a good picture into what society is becoming and certain segments in particular. So what if someone makes an off-color joke? We are all equal right but some have to be treated with kid-gloves, be given extra chances, told how good they’re doing, get graduation coaches at high schools, translators for some, etc. So we are telling them they are equal but in reality they need help in every aspect of life. You’re too dumb to learn English-we’ll get you a translator. You can’t make an “A” we’ll hire tutors, graduation coaches, and even change test scores for you! This silly notion that the r_acist comments are somehow so horrible, get a clue. Do you even watch TV or watch the news? How come Tea Party people have thicker skin? How come a w_hite guy can be denied a promotion because someone needs to feel that affirmat_ive action slot? Now that’s real ra_cism. A few funny (or maybe even stupid) comments are not that horrible.

      Wow. Reading these comments makes me sad. There is no doubt about the disproportionate amount of crime and single parent homes in the black community, and its a total disgrace. Yet as a white ultra-conservative guy who has been with my black wife for more than 15 years now, it makes me sick to my stomach to know how some of you “conservatives” feel out there feel. You ask why its such a big deal, and say that “words dont hurt”? Tell that to my 3 beautiful little biracial girls – 5, 2 and 1 years old – thats why its unacceptable. You can say whatever you want, but you mess with my girls and I will do my best to separate your head from your shoulders. I know many hardworking, honest, good black people, yet you love nothing more than to feed the flames with your idiotic comments about “it must be in their dna”, etc. Funny, the comments here are completely different when its a white thug involved in some criminal activity than when its a black individual.       Well said, the real racism is perpetrated by our own governments. The racism for the last over 40 years has been perpetrated and sanctioned by the federal government and state governments. It is amazing that white guilt has been played on so long that they have allowed a real serious imbalance of race in our government. It is an imbalance that puts minorities in federal power positions far in excess of their actually numbers.

    I am a BIG Beck / Blaze fan. I operate a conservative blog and I am always defending conservatives from the generalized statements that all conservatives are racist. I am also black and seeing some of the racially overtone comments here has made my job a bit tougher. A few comments here are perpetuating the stereotype that people on the Blaze are racist. Fortunately, I know this is not the case so I hope the few bad apples here are a bit more civil in the future.

      Congratulatitions on your insight and seeing the political envronent for what it realy is, a Socialist agenda putting all Americans at the mercy of big brother. Being of African American heritage you have a greater view of how the New Slavery caused by the government welfare system has produced. Star Parker’s book

      As far as this incident is concerned, the justice system will prevail sooner or later. The incdent just happened to involve a black former NBA player who had a hstory of vioent behavior in the past. He, however, doesn’t have a lock on athletic misbehavior. Over the years, many caucasian athletes at both the college and professional level have been involved in criminal activity. Part of the problem is the fact that these athletes are almost worshipped as heroes and placed on pedestals. Both college and profesional teams try to protect their “Investments” and try to deflect any invstigations into their activities off the court or field.

      Being black shouldn’t be a factor here. He’s just another common murderer and shoud be treate as such.

      BQI.. thanks for your post. Here’s the problem. The media protects and shrouds the identity of certain people in this society in the interest of political correctness. What you see here isn’t racism. It’s the natural leveling of discourse. If no one is going to call black athletes out for the consitent crime and very bad behavior then this is the reaction the rest of us will have.

      If the media is going to call groups of black thugs “teens” every day then it tries our patience. If Al Sharpton is going to go on the air and NEVER mention the preponderance of black crime then this is the reaction the rest of us will have. If Obama is NEVER, EVER going to give a speech on the decayed, immoral state of black urban America then this is the reaction the rest of us are going to have.

      Or do we just sit by, say nothing and be good little, quiet citizens and do nothing?

      there is a difference between racism and realism. People do not commit crimes because the color of their skin. Lib/dem/progressive programs have done much to create a criminal mind set among minorities. When is the last time you saw a lib get up and speak out against violen rap music? They do not, it goes against what they are trying to create.

      Go on the FBI crime stats page and be enlightened. 12% of the population commit around 50% of our murders. Of that 12% it is the welfare receiving portion doing much of the crime. Much of that 12% are hard working, tax paying, productive Americans

      I agree. It’s not an ethnic thing, it’s a “class” thing. I put class in quotes because if you work hard enough in America, you can change that. I’m surprised he kept that attitude, being a professional ball player. I’ve heard of people being raised in “the hood” and coming out and becoming great people. Can’t remember his name, but I think of the black commentator on Fox who does finance? Glenn had him on the show to tell his story and they visited his home area. And I believe his mother was a single mom.

      And then you have OJ Simpson who had a good family life. His parents both worked, his mom was a hospital administator and his dad was a chef and bank custodian, and he committed the most horrendous crime. At first I thought that he could not possibly be guilty. My reasoning? I thought what father would do something like that and leave it for his children who were asleep in an upstairs bedroom to see. But ..it appears I was wrong.

    Four kids at 22, probably multiple dads without a job between them, just pumping out kids and letting other people work to pay for them…. Instead of midnight basketball, we need to start funding target practice. Way too many criminals are surviving poorly placed gunshots.

    Basketball is another version of the beautiful tenement building built in the inner city allowing minorities a nice place to live with reasonable rents and nice ammenities. 6 months later it’s been trashed, rap music blaring, graffiti all over it, drugs, guns and violence with children ultimately as the losers.

    Yep, that’s Basketball these days.

      You don’t have to add the “athlete”, just say African American. African Americans commit violent crime at a rate 100 times that of any other race. Which is why African males make up 5-6% of the US population and 50% of the prison population. They can’t, won’t, will not particpate in school which severely limits their future to meanial low paying, criminal acts, or athletics. Most opt for a life of crime over Mcee D.’s. It‘s safe to say that many Africans in America can’t learn, not racist just an ugly truth. Why do you think IQ testing was banned in the schools in the late 70′s. Well I’ll tell you why. When 85% of the African‘s IQ’s came back as mildly retarded the Gov’t decided it was not a good idea to tell the majority of blacks that they are just stupid.       it could be you, are you asking about the total number crimes that actually happen or just the ones that are reported? why would the media single out just the black athletes? if your goal was to persuade and embolden a group of people to one day be violent, why would you show any one other than their role models? the media has a lot of power with the stories they share, and a lot more with the stories they don’t.

    No regard for human life … No care about those they hurt … They don’t take care of their own children … Yet they are always the victims ???
    When is society going to stop making excuses for this culture ???

      Gosh, why do people keep thinking that Tea Party people are racists? Let me give you one clue. If a black guy does something bad and your conclusion is “They’re all savages”, that’s not gonna play well in most parts of the country.

      You mean it “won’t play” on most of the tv channels where your only life experience comes from. Average Joes KNOW from personal experience that the success of most blacks comes from pity i.e. affirmative action. Some, though, are too criminal even to take advantage of white guilt (as in the above story.) I’m as much a racist as the boy who shouted “The Emperor is naked!” is a garment-ist.

    There goes the theory that they are violent due to poor neighborhoods and whitey keepin em down. This guy had everything, Respect, Money, Responsibility yet he threw it all away. He shot into a group of people walking in retaliation for a robbery commited earlyer against him.
