LOS ANGELES (The Blaze/AP) — Is there something in the water over at the Playboy mansion? Last month, The Blaze covered Shanna Marie McLaughlin’s (Playboy’s Miss July 2010) arrest after she allegedly attempted to board a plane to Los Angeles with a loaded handgun in her bag.

Now, there’s another Playmate behaving badly.

Victoria Rathgeb, a former Playboy Playmate of the Year who appeared in the horror movie “Rosemary’s Baby,” has been sentenced to nine years in state prison for shooting her husband of 25 years, Bruce Rathgeb, in the back at their Hollywood apartment. Additionally, TMZ reports the following:

On top of the 9 year sentence — Dorian was ordered to pay $70 thousand into California’s victim restitution fund.

Los Angeles County prosecutors say the 66-year-old was sentenced Wednesday. She pleaded no contest to attempted voluntary manslaughter.

Prosecutors say he recovered and was in court for the sentencing but did not make a statement. The Daily Mail has more on the crime:

Bruce testified in January that he left the couple’s apartment on October 16 after his wife accused him of being unfaithful, and that he was waiting for the elevator door to open when he saw his wife about eight feet away.

“Quickly she just aimed and fired at me,” he said, telling the judge that he smelled gunpowder and felt burning and stinging on the left side of his body.

Then, he claims his wife put a small plastic bag inside of his mouth, which he spit out. She then walked back into their apartment and he passed out only to wake up in severe pain later at the hospital:

“They tried to take the bullet out. I guess it was close to the heart so they left it in,” he said.

Rathgeb was 1968′s Playmate of the Year under the name of Angela Dorian. She had TV and movie roles in the 1960s and 1970s and played a recovering heroin addict in the 1968 hit “Rosemary’s Baby.”

    I think the real story is the fact that an issue of playboy was 75 cents in 1968. I am not an accountant, but adding for inflation the same issue would sell for $138,324.68 today. And what about that pink,eh?
    There is no accounting for taste, but how was this woman pet of the year? Was the award ceremony held at a kennel? Woof ,woof. And OH! she did not age well,girlfriend.

    What is the story here? that she like thousands of other women posed nude, so this makes her what?, In her youth, it made her a target for mens fantasies, and bathroom pleasures, a target for the women who hated her for her choices to be an object, now her age, all those same people can find it fun to attack a once pretty thing, who is now old and invisible and crazy. Raise your hand if you participated in any of the above scenarios…..and you are feeling superior? God Bless you .

    Instead of getting even she should of walked away. Now she gets to stare at 4 walls for 9 years and we the taxpayers get to pay for it. I wonder if the state of CA will ever see the 70 thousand dollars she owes to the crime victim fund? They sure could use the money, maybe helping illegals get some more beni’s.

    Her husband MUST have done SOMETHING to deserve getting shot! NO WOMAN would EVER do something like this unless she was provoked by an abusive man. She is clearly a victim here. He should go to jail not her. LOL. In all seriousness if HE shot HER and attempted to stuff a bag in her mouth to suffocate her, he would have gotten 25 years to life, not a measly 9 years this piece of work received..

    She is 66 and she is sitting there with no makeup and glasses. She would look better with a different hair style, without glasses and with makeup and a smile.
    No one stays young looking forever. Do you honestly think Sophia Loren or Rachel Welch didn’t have some help besides diet and exercise? Possibly some plastic surgery in addition to the makeup? While the diet and exercise help to make someone old look younger this lady doesn’t appear fat to me. She appears 66. What exactly is expected to happen to someone’s looks after 42 years?
