Inspiration For D‘Souza’s Anti-Obama Film Is…Michael Moore

Exclusive: Inspiration For Dinesh DSouzas Anti Obama Film

In an exclusive interview with TheBlaze, conservative author and commentator Dinesh D’Souza spoke about the odd influence leftist filmmaker Micheal Moore had on D‘Souza’s remarkably successful movie hitting national box offices this weekend. As TheBlaze previously reported, “2016: Obama’s America” began playing in 1,090 North American theaters on Friday and opened No. 1 at the domestic box office.

TheBlaze asked D’Souza about his influences for the film and we were surprised to hear that Moore, perhaps the most left-wing filmmaker of our time, was one of them.

D’Souza, who based the documentary off his best-selling 2010 book “The Roots of Obama’s Rage,” said he considered Moore’s successful marketing of “Fahrenheit 9/11,” the documentary the George W. Bush administration.

“Michael Moore made Fahrenheit 9/11 and he dropped it in the middle of the national debate,” D’Souza told TheBlaze, noting that the country was very torn at the time over a controversial president. “So look, the conditions look very similar, except we have a Democratic president, Obama, very controversial.”

But that is where the similarities seem to end for D’Souza.

“Moore’s film had no new information about Bush, it was essentially antics,” D’Souza said. “It was fast and loose with the facts.  The intellectual content of the film was a nullity.”

D’Souza insisted his film is much more stable and revealing since it ”is entirely anchored in fact.” He noted that even though the films were made under similar conditions, Moore’s was only intended to be “a rally cry for the left.”  D’Souza said he has bigger things in mind.

The author is targeting undecided voters with his film, and given its success he may be reaching them.

“Our film has much more of an ability to reach to the middle,” the author noted, and to “sow real seeds of doubt” for all voters.

TheBlaze’s attempts to contact Michael Moore for comment were not immediately returned.

      Just got back from seeing the movie 2016 and it was eye opening. Never again will you be blinded by the lies and distortion. Obama is a fraud and he has played his anti-colonialism game on us AND WE BOUGHT IT; Hook line and sinker. This man (Coward) wants to de-thrown America and prop up all the third world countries. The Obama family doesn‘t like George Obama because he hasn’t yet fallen for the Anti-Colonial garbage. Hopefully, he never will because Kenya needs someone over there that can stand up to these progressive/communist/marxists that want to keep them in the dark. Literally.

      At least Moore‘s movie wasn’t a work of fiction. This, in the words of Allen West, “crap sandwich” is a collection of debunked lies, lies exposed by conservative sources like the Weekly Standard.       Obama, Hollywood, and dems have to be furious right now. D Souza took their game, and played it against them. They are not used to anything “media” showing them in a bad light.

      Where this film will really make a difference, is for the folks in the middle. The film is true, and the most damaging aspects come directly from the mouth of Obama himself. When folks watch this, they will get an enlightenment that the left never wanted out in the open.

      Basically, D Souza is the little boy on the side of the road, that when the parade rolls by, declares “ Why is the Emperors half white butt sticking out”

    I saw the movie Friday afternoon and I was really disappointed. Based on the trailer I thought it was going to be fast paced with a lot of energy. I didn’t learn anything new. I took 3 people from work who are not political at all and you really need to brief people who don’t know who Marx or what Anti-colonialism means. I was so anxious during the film that it wasn’t making sense to them. I wish he had gone further into describing the background of Obama’s founding father.

      I know what you mean by feeling anxious about others less informed watching it. I feel that way every time I try to talk to my friends who are clueless about what’s going on in our country and the world.

      Dinesh covered a wide span of information in his movie, but it would have lasted 4 hours had he gone into more details about Marxism and anti-colonialism. I recommend that anyone who saw the movie also read his book. It goes into much more depth and better explains how he came to his conclusions.

      I wonder where you work where co-workers don’t know who Marx is or what anti-colonialism is. It’s not like these are obscure topics. Most 8th graders can expound on both topics (I’m a teacher). I hope that POS Moore gets apoplectic when he reads that he was an inspiration to D’Souza. I can’t wait to see the movie, I’ll be encouraging all my family, friends and acquaintances to view it to ensure it’s not only a commercial success but to help divert the vote from that a$$ in the White House.

      I think the charge of “Marxist” and socialist have been cheapened over the years from the many times it’s been used (don’t get me wrong, if you truly understand what it means, it’s not flattering)

      Anti-colonialism is a less corrupt word that people can look up and see what it means. But more importantly, the people who believe it and how they impact politics.

      Saw 2016 tonight. wow. Can’t remember being at a movie this full and the whole audience had their attention riveted to the screen, then broke out and applauded the movie at the conclusion. Real eye opener. One can only hope enough eyes get opened.

      The only ill-informed are the fools that thought what they saw on the screen was the truth. The source material, the Roots of Obama’s Rage has been completely debunked. It is more a work of fiction than anything else. Conservative sources such as the Weekly Standard have even reported how little truth there is between the pages.

IF you watched the movie, you would know that he came to his conclusion not through lies, but by analyzing Obama’s otherwise inexplicable actions and his words.       By the way, the indoctrination centers we call public schools are responsible for the vast majority of self-loating among young Americans. I hope I live to see the day when the Department of Education is no more and American parents take an active and responsible role in the education of their children.

      Schools should be owned and run by the people of the community in which they educate. There should be direct accountability by parents, teachers, and administrators who actually know and respect each other face to face. There should be no unions anywhere near the place.

    But we all have to remember…the audience. Moore targeted the left with far left rants that drove FEELINGS which is a major decision factor for the left. D’Souza focused on the middle and the right which operates on FACTS which is their major decision factor. the real reason 2016 will have far more impact than anything Moore put out is that Facts can also influence Feelings and with so many people hurting from the last three and a half years we can predict that outside of illegitimate voting, Obama will lose in a landslide…notice I didn’t say Romney will win in a landslide…yes that will happen but only because of the anti-Obama vote.

I have a Polish husband that is very anti Marxist and I am of Cuban parents and despise anything remotely Marxist- now that I ahve an understanding of it (circa 2000)…but even my friends from communist era countries that are younger than 40 see nothing wrong with America adopting socialist ideas…soooo scary!

    Saw the movie last week.
    Content is good and substantiated, production is slow and boring.
    overall it is a must see not so much for the entertainment potential as it is for a the educational potential about Obama’s background and formative years.

      I saw it today; when the attendant came in and asked if everyone seated would please move in towards the center so others could be seated because it was going to be full seating; everyone applauded!! I thought it was great; took my breath away when I saw B O Sr ‘s comment; tax 100%!! If that doesn‘t get everyone’s attention I guess we get what we deserve…

    I saw this film yesterday as well. The entire audience clapped at the en. It truly left a lump in my throat thinking about the potential of another 4 years of this poor excuse for a leader. I pray America wakes up in time, and this film won’t hurt. Way to go Dinesh!

      Did anyone else find themselves teary-eyed when Lady Liberty was shown toward the end of the movie? The scene in “Planet of the Apes” flashed across my mind, where she was half buried in the sand after a world war. It brought home just how dangerous Obama is for our country.

      We were at the theater last night, too – the attendant said it was sold out. The last few into the theater had a difficult time finding a seat. This film tidily summarizes why POTUS behaves as he does to all concerned including the Muslim Brotherhood, and what’s in store if he remains. This is good as a refresher for those in the know and also a great introduction to those who don’t have a clue. This was perfect timing for this movie, and I hope there will be many more showings in the weeks to come.

    For his own good I hope that’s all that inspires him about Michael Moore. Mike’s a huge noxious bag of gas and crap ready to explode!

    D’ Souza goes out and gets the facts, and MoonButt Moore just piles the cr@p on his plate and stirs it up like the next road-kill buffalo he’s going to eat, and then dishes it out like creme brulee (bru-leh)…

    Another big difference .. D’Souza has more class in his little finger .. than Moore in his whole body and that is saying a LOT!

    btw .. excellent film I saw it yesterday when it opened in my area.

      Another difference is D’Souza doesn‘t have Obama’s Lap Dog Media helping to promote it. Not a word from the Liberal Media about this movie. I have my tickets and I am going to night with a friend.

      To true …the silence is telling .. if they were not afraid of people learning the truth they would be trying to discredit it .. but the Truth is hard .. especially when much of it is Obama’s own words …. I would say enjoy … but it really isn’t that type of movie .. and yet it is refreshing to see the TRUTH for once.

      Another big difference, is that Obama 2016 is built on lies. The movie is based on the debunked, disgraceful book Roots of Obama’s Rage. Even the conservative Weekly Standard, in its review of the book denounced the author for his lack of honesty and contempt for the for the truth.

      This movie is for the racist birthers and the ignorant tea party members.
