On her website (michellemalkin.com), Michelle Malkin describes herself this way: “I’m a mother, wife, blogger, conservative syndicated columnist, author and Fox News Channel contributor.”

She is certainly all of those things. However, we discovered some additional, very interesting items about the woman who calls herself a “happy warrior in the mold of Ronald Reagan.” Michelle Malkin joins us this month “In the Hot Seat.”

BLAZE: Was there ever a time in your life that you were not a conservative—or was there a pivot point, an incident sparked your conservatism?

MICHELLE: I was a “congenital conservative” from the time I was a young girl, and that’s because of my parents.

There were two huge pivot points for me. College was the first. I had never been exposed to liberal racism. I had never been exposed to progressive ideas of multiculturalism and collectivism the way I was in college. And it was against everything I had been taught and everything that I believed instinctively.

And I think that 9/11 really focused my mind and my heart on several important policy issues—national security, sovereignty and a renewed sense and appreciation for the basic freedoms that we have and that I realized were under threat in a way I had never seen in my lifetime.

BLAZE: What is a political “deal breaker” for you? In other words, what single issue position could prevent you from supporting a president and vice president?

MICHELLE: I’ve mentioned 9/11, and when I talk about national security, the importance of immigration enforcement is one of my big issues and always has been. Any candidate that would come out for the kind of blanket amnesty and the sabotage of fundamental immigration rules isn’t for me.

BLAZE: Your success has also brought you some negative attention in the form of rude and crude insults, even threats. How do you deal with that side of fame?

MICHELLE: I am always a happy warrior in the mold of Ronald Reagan. After two decades in this business, you come to understand that these kinds of attacks—the ad hominem smears—come with the territory. Second of all, it’s a small price to pay to be able to make a living basically mouthing off! When I go onto college campuses, I tell the young kids, “I pinch myself every morning when I dwell on the concept of making a living broadcasting my opinions.” And I never lose that sense of wonder and appreciation.

      Megyn Kelly is from a different camp, some similarities, but the kernel is pretty different.
      Monica Crowley is closer, but also different: less analytical skills, more superficial and some worm hides inside (too close to Alen Colmes).
      Am I wrong? Maybe. But this is what I’ve got after many years of watching all of them. Now I stopped watching Fox News completely: too Saudi Arabic flavor, sometimes kind of stench…

    This Reagan conservatives deal breaker for president is amnesty for illegal immigrants? she must have forgotten Pres. Reagan’s record on this matter. What Reagan did best was sit down with people whom he’d had fundamental disagreements with and compromised a deal that was in the best interest of this country. In todays political world this type of discourse doesn’t exist. Sad!

    Michelle Malkin is smart, beautiful and her conservative views obviously gets under the skin of the liberals and progressives! It seems that her critics are the very racists they claim to disdain so much!
    I myself don’t care where a person is from or what they look like, my parents taught me to judge people on their actions and their words.

      Bad! Bad Mr. Goldline! Shame on you for that racist joke. I won’t fire back, as two wrongs don’t make a right…but oddly enough two Wongs make it white.

      Remember, keep ethnic jokes specific, like using the name “Wong” specifically so that it becomes a joke about the Chinese rather than Asians in general. Just like making fun of Mexicans is fine (same as making fun of Canadians) but you can’t make fun of “Hispanics.” Remember, make fun of a person’s country, not their race.

      And remember, when you have to treat or speak to someone differently, it makes them different.

      @Goldline – I’m with you there…discussions should be completely open. Agree with your statement or not, you have a right to say it. Half my comments have been removed, so don’t feel bad; it’s just The Blaze becoming “politically correct” along with the rest of the country. When you can’t say what you want here, well, maybe its too late to hold onto freedom.

      I don’t think Obama had anything to do with this hurricane…but, maybe Bush has come out of retirement to crush the Louisiana Blacks again with yet another storm he created. Does this not sound familiar?

      As for what Obama does, it is obvious to any student of history what he is attempting. You’re just too racist to see that a Black man can actually be hell-bent on the destruction of this nations foundation. Of course, the fact that he said he was going to fundamentally change America never registered with you.

      Stop looking at Obama as a “Black man” and just see him as a man, a man that is horrible for this country and its prosperity. It’s 2012, time for you to get over your White guilt and start blaming those responsible. He’s even more power-hungry than Bush was, which is why he expanded the PATRIOT act instead of repealing it. Its why he has American citizens killed with drone strikes instead of giving them a trial.     The only thing that bugs me about MM, is she fought against Trump (just like both parties), when Trump is the only person in the lime light, who talked about ACTUAL GROWTH IN THE USA AGAIN.

    If you don’t think “outsourcing” (what both parties call the free market Capitalism, but is actually communist International redistribution of our wealth making capabilities) is the #1 factor responsible for our decline–consider this. International redistribution started in 1978, when we had only 17% of our population on some sort of government assistance. Now, after 34 years, that number is 49.5%, and a much bigger welfare voting block.

    President Trump, VP Allen West, and Head of Treasury Ron Paul—or the USA is finished, no matter what MM calls herself.

      But I make more money out of my 1 car garage, than any union worker in the world. I was suppose to lose my home and become a dependent because I got into manufacturing. Now my home is almost paid for after only 5 years of making more money. Making more money instantly–changes lives for the better, and only Donald Trump was, and still is talking about actual growth.

      A great idea. If you are around Chris ask Glenn to make her an offer she can’t refuse. If he does and she accepts maybe it‘ll chase ol ’moose breath’ wango away. He doesn’t care for her at all. He doens’t care for most of us here. He only comes to sew seeds of aggravation, which I’m to understand he was also doing with those gina-protesters earlier. Apparently he went there and got all aroused and little carried away. He was spotted trying to hump one of those phony-ginas while the ‘old bag’ wearing it was still in it. She gleefully thinks she was attacked by Sasquatch. She’s now in a local hospital undergoing psychological evaluation.

      I totally agree! She blows Laura Ingraham and Ann Coulter out of the water. I love Michelle because she is conservative, succinct, knowledge on issues is unparalled, pragmatic, unadulterated straight shooter and unapologetic. Oh and yes, Absolutely Beautiful!!

      Doesn‘t hurt that she’s smokin hot either right? Notice we conservatives have. People like Michelle, Sarah Palin, the PolitaChicks etc. And the Libs have Pelosi, Wassername? Shultz etc. Makes me Smile :)
