‘Come on Gretchen!’: Debbie Wasserman Schultz Has Another Contentious Interview on ‘Fox & Friends’

Fox News
Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz has had some heated appearances on Fox News and an interview Wednesday was no exception.
Speaking with “Fox & Friends” host Gretchen Carlson, the Florida congresswoman grew increasingly impatient on the subject of rising gas prices after Carlson played a video of her criticizing then-President George W. Bush over the same issue and asking why President Barack Obama doesn’t deserve similar treatment when prices are even higher.
“You I think back then felt the president could have done something about lowering the gas prices,” Carlson started off. “What do you say now that gas prices are going to reach $5 a gallon under President Obama?”
“What I was referring to in that speech, as I have for many years, is that focusing on fossil fuels and continuing the ‘drill baby drill’ strategy that President Obama rightly referred to the other day in south Florida as a bumper sticker, not an energy policy, is not the way to go,” Wasserman Schultz said. “We are not going to address gas prices over the long-term because there is — there is no president in the short-term that can really change policy and impact gas prices in a significant way.”
She went on to point out that the U.S. has seen “more domestic energy production than we’ve had in eight years” and now needs to make sure to invest in wind, solar and hydroelectric power.
“But a lot of Americans are wondering what’s going to happen now and a lot of those things take time,” Carlson said.
“Affecting gas prices takes time,” Wasserman Schultz replied. “You’re absolutely right.”
“You brought up drilling and I want you to look at this map, because under President Bush versus under President Obama, there is a stark difference as to the amount of drilling that’s going on here domestically,” Carlson said as the map was shown on screen. “This is under President Bush and this is under –”
“I’m sorry, Gretchen,” Wasserman Schultz interjected. “I can’t see the map here.”
“Basically it shows that there was a lot more drilling going on under President Bush than under President Obama,” Carlson said.
“No, right now there is more — ” Wasserman Schultz began.
“Do you believe also — ” Carlson cut in.
“No, no, no, excuse me. Excuse me!” Wasserman Schultz said.
“The policies were enacted by President Bush,” Carlson said.
“Come on Gretchen!” Wasserman Schultz chastised. “If you’re going to make a comment, please let me respond. There’s more domestic energy production now than at any time in the last eight years.”
“I’m running out of time and I really want to get to the question about whether or not a president can actually do something about gas prices,” Carlson said.
With Wasserman Schultz again acknowledging no immediate short-term to alleviate rising prices, she went back to the importance of an “all of the above” strategy, repeating the point about expanded domestic energy production under Obama.
“Right, and I went back to the fact that many people say that was because of the policies enacted under President Bush,” Carlson responded.
“No, no, that would be the policies enacted under President Obama,” Wasserman Schultz said.

Posted on March 1, 2012 at 1:40amGretchen’s act on FOX, the one she gets paid for, is to play the average housewife, not too wise in the ways of the world, but just busting out with that homespun “common sense conservatism.” Actually Gretchen, despite the role she play, is actually a very smart woman, a rhodes scholar I believe.
But she hasn’t quite mastered the FOX “interview” technique of asking a loaded question and then talking over the guest when they try to respond to the question. She tried once or twice to make a politically charged statement and then change the subject without letting Schultz respond, but didn’t get away with it. Did you hear where Gretchen make a loaded statement and try to prevent from responding by saying “we’re out of time”?
Gretchen has brains, enough to be on FOX anyway. But for the sake of FOX, she shouldn’t try to take on Schulz anymoe. Gretchen, despite the prepartion and video, is never going to come off looking to good matching wits with Schultz.
Sorry Gretchen. Love ya but don’t try to match wits with your betters.

Her giving credit to Obumbler for Bushs policies (it’s Bushes fault) and defending his energy policies that are strangling exploration in so many areas. I live on the Gulf Coast and we are still being hurt by his off shore policies. Look at the jobs he could have created with approval of the Keystone Pipeline not to mention $33 a bbl oil from a friend as opposed to $105 a bbl oil from people who have stated their attention to destroy our way of life.

Posted on March 1, 2012 at 8:30amJZS, Come on now, you blame Carlson for that nasty hag Wasserman-Schultz’s actions. Wasserman-Schultz does her dangedest to talk over anybody in an interview. She knows their is a limited time for these interviews yet will constantly walk over any interviewer. Even those while in a comfortable for the left setting like BSNBC. She is not as masterful as 0bama at it, but does attempt to turn any interview into her personal soliloquy. Hmmm, actually the more I think about it, 0bama is not really masterful at it. He just does it, and if the interviewer attempts take charge of the interview again, the remainder of the left wing media will pound him/her for days if not weeks for being disrespectful. Disrespectful, that does make me laugh after having watched what the left and the press in general did to Reagan and both of the Bush presidents.
Report Post »JZS, not only am I surprised that you mention Carlson’s participation in the Rhodes Scholarship, I’m waiting to see what she will be accused of now that you have let the cat out of the bag. I half expect to see the media smear her for being racist because of her ‘association’ with a Cecil Rhodes formed organization.
Anyway, after that interview I bet Carlson had to go take a shower. I know that I felt that way after watching it. But, I feel that way after every encounter with that woman.

She IS the DNC head, and rightly so, as she promotes Obama’s agenda of 8$ gasoline, & alternate energy sources by ENDLESSLY THROWING away taxpayer money on their pipedreams. But she thinks we independents will support an outright Marxist/Lennonist Totalitarian because THAT’S what represents the center of American politics…
And I love how she just barely finished saying that any change in drilling policy would take 20 years to have an effect…
Then immediately followed that up by refuting that Bush’s policies have any effect on current supply, instead giving all of that credit to Obama.
Has Obama been in office for 20 years? Boy did I lose track of time. I’m late for a meeting.

Posted on February 29, 2012 at 11:13pmThe real trouble starts when the feds lose with plan A , they simply shift gears into plan B , which is miles of red tape and an EPA study (that takes 4 years to complete). WE have to rid of ourselves of this red tape AND the EPA. Also the Feds own vast tracts of land west of St Loius MI and have been gobbling up anything they can get thier hands on at an alarming rate under this admin (by hook or crook, expropriation what have you) for the express purpose of denying it to nat resources developers. They are trying to rig the entire energy racket in similar fashion to how they’ve now gamed the health care system and the financial system (through Dodd/Frank). Three key laws HAVE to be repealed in thier entirety, Obamacare first and foremost, Dodd/Frank, and finally the odious NDAA law….on top of those very tall orders the Dept of Ed, the EPA and the NLRB have to be defuned and disovled. Such a reversal along with complete tax reform, lowering taxes to 15% for everyone would unleash a boom like we haven‘t seen since the roaring 20’s.
Fat chance ….with Hypocritical reps like Wasserman Shultz such common sense reforms would cause her hair to fall out… bald two faced liar for a DNC chairman…hey wait Jesse Ventura..

Simple economics rules that the more you have of something the less it will cost, providing production costs about the same. So… But they are considering the Strategic Reserve. That oil did not just appear there. If alternative energy was economically viable we would have more of it WITHOUT subsidies. As of at least last year every Prius was sold at a LOSS. Where is the plan for more nuclear energy. Choose a safe plant plan and build one on EVERY military base or piece of Federal land, to streamline permitting. That would employ many thousand people and quickly begin to power non mobile infrastructure like cities and factories. For cars for the foreseeable future we will have gasoline. Why not upgrade the rail system and out law long (greater than 200 miles) haul trucking?

Posted on February 29, 2012 at 5:20pmWow demand is down because of all the electric cars and 50 mpg cars. Please support your statements with facts. How many electric cars and 50mpg cars versus the rest of the autos and trucks we own. Demand us NOT down, hell we can’t afford Obamas gas prices, therefor we don’t buy. When president Bush announced the opening of drilling in previously prohibited areas, before anything came out of the ground, gas prices fell dramatically. If BHO is reelected the 99% will quickly become the 99.9% with little hope or change in the opportunity to better ourselfves.

Posted on February 29, 2012 at 8:16pmProduction is up mainly due to North Dakota, which is privately owned. State drilling leases are also up. Federal drilling leases are way down, look at the Gulf you moron. He also scrapped the Anwar project in Alaska you moron. He also vetoed the pipeline you moron. Posted on March 1, 2012 at 6:12amOne of the biggest reasons for high oil, food, and other prices is that the value of the US Dollar is being systematically destroyed by the Progressives who have seized power over the Federal Reserve and are doing almost everything they can to cause the US Dollar to collapse. They need a national financial collapse and the chaos and violence it will create to seize power.
Back in the 1942, two dimes would buy a gallon of gas. The same two dimes (with 1940s levels of silver content) would still buy a gallon of gas today at current silver prices. The only thing that’s changed is the value of the US Dollar. This has been one of the central pillars of the Progressive plan from almost the very beginning, along with the destruction and/or export of nearly all manufacturing and energy production to prevent as much wealth & value from being added to the US economy as possible.
This is how the US economy, followed shortly thereafter by the Republic, will be toppled.

Report Post »Please inform everyone to properly inflate their tires, get tune ups, etc. Yurboi Barry had not one damn thing to do with the increase of drilling, OR production. I would be willing to bet my next royalty check, that there is serious effort afoot to bring this wild and unstructured process to an end.
As for your remarks on hybrids, and 50 mpg cars. Yeh, the dealerships are just flooded, ain;t they!

Posted on February 29, 2012 at 3:48pmWatched the show this morning. Felt sorry for Gretchen, but couldn’t help but laugh at Wasserman-Schultz. It helps to turn my head from the screen so I won’t throw up though.

Posted on February 29, 2012 at 3:55pmThe funny thing is that Wasserman Schultz actually thinks that her antics are not immediately transparent to the all important independent voters. Her silly antics might play well to that small 20% of the population that are as radicalized as her, but to everyone else, it is like going to the circus and laughing at the clowns… except the clowns makeup looks better than hers.
