‘Exhausted’ Woman Who Pleaded With Obama for Hope…Loses Her Job

WASHINGTON (AP) — The woman who told President Barack Obama that she was “exhausted” from defending him and his economic policies and waiting for the change she expected after voting for him has another reason to be put out: She’s lost her job.

Velma Hart, the chief financial officer for Am Vets, a veteran services organization based in Maryland, said Monday in an interview with CNBC that she was laid off as part of the nonprofit’s effort to cut expenses.

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

“I want to focus on the positive and be optimistic,” said Hart, who lives in Upper Marlboro, Md. “And assume that somehow things will work out, that there‘s an opportunity out there with Velma’s name on it that’s right around the corner.”

Am Vets executive director Jim King told The Washington Post that the nonprofit was looking for ways to survive financially.

“It’s not anything she did,” King told the Post for a story that appeared online Monday. “She got bit by the same snake that has bit a lot of people. It was a move to cut our bottom line.”

In September, during a town hall-style meeting on the economy televised by CNBC, Hart told Obama: “Quite frankly, I’m exhausted. Exhausted of defending you, defending your administration, defending the man for change I voted for, and deeply disappointed with where we are right now.”

Hart said that the recession had taken an enormous toll on her family and left her and her husband worried about their finances. “And quite frankly, Mr. President, I need you to answer honestly,” she said, “Is this my new reality?”

Obama responded, in part: “As I said before, times are tough for everybody right now. So I understand your frustration.” He went on to cite examples of administration policies that he argued were helping families cope financially.

Hart told CNBC that she still supports Obama and noted that the economy is improving, though she finds the prospect of unemployment “scary.”

All the Obama supporters have to keep supporting him. Remember how we were all labelled “racists” if we disagreed or did not support him. I guess with Obama’s approval ratings below 50%, most of the country (including previous supporters) are now racist.

For those of you who recall and wondered why Obama would speak out against not for profits at the beginning of his presidency, now you have the answer. How can the FED GOV grow when you have not for profits like this one assisting in providing services through donations? It cannot. Therefore, Obama wanted to limit the role of NFPs in our society so he can grow government and the nanny state! Wake up people, this train is going to a socialist state if we do not continue to vote with our hearts, as we did in November. 2012 is the next showdown, and redistictricting means we can do 2x as much as this months vote. Get local, get involved!

Since EVERYONE who is unemployed are just LAZY and all could be working since there are PLENTY of jobs out there,at least that is what MANY of you say and if that is so we can not be in a recession as good jobs are everywhere. Funny out here in the REAL world it is NOT that way so lets continue to play THE GAME and EAT OUR OWN while those in WASHINGTON continue with THE AGENDA You place so much hope in the NEW hires but fail to listen to so many of them talk since the election .I will give up ALL of my tommorows to help save this country WILL YOU???

Her boss said she did nothing wrong, was just bitten by the same snake as a lot of other folks? Please- how about voting for Obama! A man with NO experience. A man with serious ties to some very questionable people. A man with a wife who had never in her adult life been proud of her country. A man who said he wanted to fundamentally change the United States. These are all facts that were documented prior to election day. The only reason this woman voted for Obama was because of his skin color. Today, she is not even sorry? She still supports him? Being an CFO you would think that she would be able to relate her “now jobless” state with this current administration’s anti capitalistic policies. Hmmm- here’s a clue lady. You think your employer might be able to keep ya on board if he wasn’t so afraid of the new taxes coming down the pike, or unable to pay for every staff‘ member’s health care under Obamacare? Just sayin- But- you still support him.

What will more likely happen is that she will have to sell her house (or lose it), get a lower paying job (or two), start taking public transportation, go on food stamps and/or Medicaid, and do exactly what Crime Inc. wants her to do: step down and out of the middle class where she can be “progressed” into the better life of being trapped in poverty. This is apparently what she wanted if she voted for The Vengislator.

2012 is going to be a hard win for the republicans because of people like this. It will also be the dirtiest election , I think, EVER! They know they cannot win on his record right now and the way they can win is to dig dirt on the opposer. Newt won’t be able to win, palin won’t be able to win. It’s going to take a clean/non hated person that has a record of speaking nothing but the truth about their record and why they voted. Can we please consider that it’s not at all possible for the unemployment rate to become zero? Please? Somebody’s going to be producing some kind of wealth, ok.

Obama didn’t save anything. He came in when Bush’s housing bubble burst, which bubble could only lose America so many jobs. Then Obama came in and enacted policies which made our situation worse.

In fact, Obama enacted the same type of failed policies as Bush. See here:

When people become employed with the U.S. Congress, they should be required to quit the party.

Their affiliation should be to the People back home and the unity of the Republic, not to parties. Of course this change would require a constitutional amendment – “Members of the US Government shall not have affiliation with any political party.” (or similar)
