‘F*** the Rich’: Cape Cod Arsonist Targets Homes of the Wealthy

Upscale towns in Massachusetts are on alert as police and fire officials are investigating another fire in which an arsonist scawled a “f*** the rich” graffiti message at the scene. The latest incident in Sandwich follows another suspicious incident in Barnstable.
On Dec. 2, the local news reports that “incendiary devices” were found in the charred ruins of a home in Marstons Mills, along with the spray-painted expletive left spray-painted on a fence.
In a phone interview Saturday, Joe Vaughn, who owned the Trotter’s Lane house for 22 years but moved about 10 years ago to Sandwich, said he talked to his former neighbors the day the arson investigators were at the home.
The arsonist had cut the propane tank off a gas grill at a neighboring house and put it in the basement of the empty one, Vaughn said a neighbor told him.
“But what they didn’t realize was that propane settles,” he added. The propane apparently never drifted upstairs to the burning candle.
“It looks like someone was trying to burn another whole house to the ground,” Barnstable police Det. John York said.
An arson hotline is available 24-hours a day at 800-682-9229. There is currently a $5,000 reward for information helping to solve arson cases, according to the state Fire Marshal’s Office.

Posted on December 13, 2010 at 6:27amI grew up on Cape Cod in the 70‘s and 80’s. Used to be they didn’t tolerate “city folk”, and did discouraged their immigration from such paradises as Roxbury, Fall River, and New Bedford. Apparently that idea of giving everyone a piece of the pie hasn’t worked out so well………If you live on the Cape and are tired of this crap. Blame Barney Frank and John Kerry. You get what you vote for. I am so thankful I live in a state like Virginia now.

Posted on December 13, 2010 at 8:53am@German, The very concept of “Income Inequality” implies that there is something wrong in someone having more than someone else. “If these trends are not addressed …”? Crawl back in your hole Marxist. I’m not rich, but what I have, I’ve worked for. What those on welfare don’t have, they’ve also worked for. Oh, they don’t have anything? As I said, what they have, they’ve worked for. I’ll help those who need help, but I should not have to help those who are unwilling to help themselves.
When these losers show up in your neighborhood, don’t dial 911. Just leave them on the street as a warning to the next bunch of losers that come your way.

Posted on December 13, 2010 at 10:03amWhat a sad commentary on your character. There is nothing more degrading than envy.
The problem is an inordinate lust for “things”. Those of us who are able should do what we can for those who have genuine need. Need, by the way, has nothing to do with a refusal to develop a good work ethic and put your back into providing for yourself.
Wealth does not necessarily mean that those who are more fortunate are evil. Envy on the other hand *is* evil.

Posted on December 13, 2010 at 10:05am@sheepdog. “crawl back into your marxist hole”?? Way to win an argument. The point is not that everyone should make the same, the point is societies with huge gaps in income are not nice places to live. But thinking beyond your talking points may not be your strong point.

The poor are often employed as nothing more than chattel. When they see their backbreaking labor used to enrich the elite, they have every right to become angry. They system the elite have built over the last 100 years will create a peasant society and the poor feel the scraps they have being eaten by the rich.
When the elite abuse the poor, they call it good business sense.
When the poor abuse the elite it is suddenly class warfare.
Suck it up rich people!

Posted on December 14, 2010 at 2:24pmI served this great country in the military in protection of the rights of all people whether rich or poor. As long as the people of this country whether rich or poor are not committing crimes they should be left to be as selfish as they want to be. Bill Gates and family are donating time and finances to those charities they deem worhwhile and those charities are numerous. The Gates told their children that they are going to donate at least 90 percent of their wealth to charities. I know that this leaves quite a lot left over and they will never be poor again. Does this mean that we take the family out and stone them for wanting to keep the extra 10 percent of their wealth. No it does not. Do we as a country condemn those people that are rich for wanting to be rich? I say no. As long as there are no crimes committed in the process of them getting their riches. I am not rich but hope to some day make it in a country that has allowed for people like Jon Huntsman to make his billions.Glen highlighted this man on his show. He also has his charities of choice and I applaud Mr. Huntsman for that. He also said he wants to die broke in favor of helping others. I again applaud him for that. Until then if Mr. Hunstman lives as a billionaire more power to him and his family. I do not think we need to take rich people out and stone them or burn down their houses. Forced charity is not the right way of doing anything. This forced charity in my opinion will only cause more friction. Do we want indentured servitude or total financial enslavement to the rich. I agree with Glen. I rather would be free and poor than enslaved to the rich thinking we owe them something because the rich are being forced to bail us out. Glen’s show the other day highlighted a preacher/pastor I can not remember which asking his congregation to help those in need and asked if they wanted to help. The congregation overwhelmingly said yes. This is indeed the help that needs to be happening in the United States.
I also believe that we need to stop helping by force some of the programs that already exist. I know a person that make below the line to get aid in how much they pay for electricity, gas, and water. The person pays an certain amount each month and does not care how much they use. While others I know are a couple of hundred of dollars above the amount to qualify that have to live in a cold/hot house because they can not afford the electricity in the summer to cool or the gas in the winter for heat. But those that qualify can run the electricity and gas to their hearts content and only pay a certain amount no matter how much they use on us the middle to lower middle class. There is always the so called haves and have nots. People are always going to see someone in this light. Eventually the extreme rich are not the only ones to be pulled in the streets, get their houses burnt down, robbed, or targeted by the have nots. All of us is looked at as flying first class by someone. If we stop and say it is alright to continue to rob (force) from the haves to give have nots we will all and are affected. It is time to say enough is enough and stop the Robin Hood syndrome and make people accountable and time to start being charitable by choice.
Before Jon Huntsman got rich and he and his family was struggling financially he gave away his lunch money to someone he knew was less fortunate than he and his family were. If we as individuals could live this way and help on our own we would not need forced charity.
I have lost my job in the past month along with four other people. I am though fortunate enough to still have my husbands income and my military retirement. There is one person that I got terminated with that she is the sole bread winner and is taking care of two children. Although, I can not afford to pay my mortgage and her rent. I wish I could. I have given her money with no expectations of giving it back. She does not even know where the envelope with money that has shown up has even came from. Mr. Huntsman taught me that I could do that and I am a richer person for doing it.
Stop the madness of onslaught on the haves. If they are selfish than they are selfish, I will pray that they change their attitude. If the commit crimes as I said before like those of ENRON take them out.

I do not want money that I have not earned and hold no grudges to those that have wealth. Where is the self respect.? Why does anyone think that they have the right to take or destroy anything that does not belong to them? If a person works hard to earn a living and becomes successful why should they be punished for it? Granted those like Bernie Madoff should be held accountable, but many have worked hard and honestly for their fiancial success. This is why there should be a flat tax. then it would be fair to everyone. The progressives love incidents like this afterall it becomes a crisis , it causes anomosity and only more violence will follow. People need to realize that the taxes from the rich makes up for nearly 2/3 of the taxes our government takes in.

I believe a lot of the Leftist will get caught up in their arrogance and be dragged into the streets also as the bottom up participants will not discern the wealthy by political party. The Michael Moores, George Soroses and Van Jones will be sucked into the violence also. They will be eaten by the cookie monsters they created…
If you give poor people money to the point where they are dependent, you had better be sure you don’t run out of money. If you do, you will be the one who pays the price with your life. It almost happened to Prince Charles the other day.
If you are wealthy and live in a big city, you had better get a safe room when the country announces that it is bamkrupt. There will be no hiding as your big house and fancy cars will give you away to the riotous mobs that have been trained to hate the rich. And do you think that security guard you now will ty to pay with worthless paper money will protect you then? Yea, right…
A city with over 1 million people will be burnt to the ground when the bottom falls out of this economy simply because people have been enslaved by welfare and taught to hate rich people.
Advice? Move to a comfortable home in a rural town, store food, buy gold and lock and load…Oh yea…and turn to God because you are gobba need him.

Posted on December 13, 2010 at 8:01pmWhat is missing in the class warfare debate? It is OK if you are poor and then become rich by being an athelete, singer.lotto winner, actor or drug dealer. Funny the sub-culture has NO problem with instant money. Seems like this is really NOT about rich versus poor. Could be an underlying RACIAL thing. Is it that the FAR-LEFT just HATE WHITE rich people?? Or maybe just Jewish rich people. I do not hear any complaints about Oprah, Mike Moore,Sean Penn,John Kerry or Michael Jordon being rich!!!

Posted on December 13, 2010 at 9:02pmThe world is easily turned upside down when entitlements become our rights. We, as a world, need to make the clear distinction between what is an entitlement and what is a right. Life is a right, liberty is a right, the pursuit of happiness is a right. Social security is not a right, welfare is not a right, public education is not a right, health care is not a right, computers are not a right. When rights are properly enforced and upheld, they do not cost other citizens a dime- let alone 1/2 their paychecks.

It will be interesting to see which houses get burned down, especially in a liberal state like Massachusetts. Will a Kennedy house be torched? What about Mitt Romney?
It’s always fun to bait the rich, but anyone that reads Henry Hazlett’s Economics in One Lesson will quickly see that this kind of action is more harmful because it discourages jobs and the wealthy move away. And there goes the tax base. People can rail all they want about the rich, but it’s the rich and the middle class that pay the taxes which provide the services, oh, like sewer, garbage, police, fire, EMS and a number of other things.
I hope they catch the slime quickly before more homes go up in flames or someone gets hurt. And I hope they put him in a cell and someone misplaces the key.

Posted on December 14, 2010 at 12:10amSounds like left wing terrorists, like the weather underground, CPUSA, or any other class warfare red organization. They openly call for violence, yet its the tea party and ron paul supporters who are “dangerous”. When the perps are caught, special attention should be given to their background and who may have funded their cause. O this will not make the state media station MSNBC.
