Facebook Event Calls for Dumping Trash at Boehners House

Talk about trashy.

A Facebook event has been set up calling for a day of trash dumping come Saturday at the house of Speaker John Boehner. If the government shuts down, you can now join almost 5,000 people who have committed to showing up and expressing their frustration via the garbage:

Speaker John Boehner is ready to shut down the government, including DC city services like trash collection.

Well, if he won’t allow us to use OUR TAX DOLLARS to pick it up, maybe we should just BRING IT TO HIM.

Update 8:51pm, 4/7/11: We’re working on some kind of action and event for Saturday morning (assuming Boehner shuts the government down), more details to come Friday. Thanks again for all the support.

Update 1:23pm, 4/7/11: Thanks for all of the sign ups this morning. The event has been picking up a lot of media coverage and support. We want to ask that you do not leave mysterious bags around DC, whether it is the Speaker’s house or government buildings. We can protest Congress’s infringement on our rights to use our taxes and budget at we see fit, but please do so in a responsible manner. Respect DC and all of our neighbors.

Update, 8:37am, 4/7/11: Thanks everyone for your excitement and enthusiasm for this civil action. We’ve seen this really take off in less than 12 hours. If the shutdown does occur, and we move forward with this event, we’ll provide details on location(s) and we‘ll make sure it’s done in a sanitary and respectful way. CNN’s Wolf Blitzer broached the trash-out on TV yesterday:

The event isn’t going to be a one-time thing either. According to the time listed on the page, it will last from Saturday through June 30.

If using trash to make a point sounds familiar, that‘s because SEIU’s economic plotter Stephen Lerner made a name for himself through the Justice for Janitors campaign. During that campaign, some members handcuffed themselves to trash cans in the middle of a Houston intersection to make a point.

CNN reports on the event’s organizers:

Organizers of the event – Jonah Goodman and Nolan Treadway – write on the page that even if the government shutdown doesn’t occur, they will “move forward with this event, we’ll provide details on location(s) and we‘ll make sure it’s done in a sanitary and respectful way. Please don’t list any personal addresses for members of Congress on this page.”

Goodman is listed in the Democratic National Committee network. Treadway is the political and logistics director for the liberal group Netroots Nation.

Netroots Nation is not surprisingly a big progressive organization. The top sponsors listed on its website are unions.

If the event actually takes place, this wouldn‘t be the first time protesters have showed up at Boehner’s home. Budget protesters showed up last February and changed, “Don’t tread on D.C.!”

I guess you could say this is all a bunch of garbage.

UPDATE ON TOMORROW’S ACTION (2:38pm, 4/8/11):
-We’ll meet at Capitol South Metro tomorrow at 9:30 and lead a walk toward the Speaker’s house.
-Despite the title of the rally, bringing trash is NOT REQUIRED. Bring yourself and, if you can, make a sign. Don’t bring lots of dirty, gross trash. Come in a costume if you’d like!
-Our understanding is that it is illegal to trespass beyond the sidewalk, please do not attempt get any clo…ser to his house than the sidewalk.
-We are trying to arrange for a dumpster, but cannot guarantee we’ll have it until later. If you bring trash, and the police ask that you not leave it somewhere, you may be required to pick it back up and take it with you.
-Be respectful of the neighbors. The folks that live around the Speaker are having their lives disrupted by the shutdown as well, so please be respectful to them.
-Have fun! We want to have some fun and show the country that DC is caught up in this mess and it shouldn’t be.
-If they manage to reach a deal before tomorrow morning, the event will be cancelled, so check back to this page before you leave.

    4774 useful idiots! Also delegate norton is getting alot of air time on cable. She’s against the trash dumping, but wolf blitzer, and delegate norton seem to both agree that DC is suffering from taxation without representation. Its their agenda, and the trash is the deversion.

    What an outstanding display of the difference between the Tea Party and the radical left. The Tea Party has an event, the area is CLEANER after the event, than before it.     The Unions did a similar thing in Naples italy. They refused to collect the trash and the whole city filled up and stinks to high heaven. I don’t know if it has been cleaned up even now. IF anyone works for a port-a-jon company, save up all your collections to dump at these union head’s houses or communes which ever they prefer to call them. I hate these people more and more everyday.

I certainly hope the police station themselves at Mr.Boehner’s house and as the idiots attempt to litter, they are arrested and immediately taken to jail. If they are in a vehicle, tow it away, let them pay a tow bill, and set their bond very high! And I say to Mr. Boehner, “you have every right to protect your home and family from intruders by what ever means you deem necessary”!

    And the speaker of the house should have ample police out there to ticket everyone who dumps litter at his house. And then he should file a lawsuit against the groups calling for this as it is an assault on his private life. And then he should sue facebook as well for allowing destructive behavior to gestate and colaberate on it’s web site. And put all the proceeds from this towards the national debt as a sign of his commitment to leaving the country in better shape than when he arrived in D.C.

      I couldn’t agree with you more, my friend. I have never even been on facebook. I couldn’t tell you anything about it. My stepdaughter can’t be within 15 feet of a computer without logging on & she’s a 30 year old boob (my “pet” name for her). It seems self importance is the current trend.       I disagree – of course you hear about this bad apples. But in a family of 12, this is the best way for our family to communicate as we’re all over US.
      I have used Facebook as a tool to start discussions and provide some TRUTH to my liberal “friends”. It’s no day in the park but at least it gets the word out. Or at least I try to.

      I’m one of the few students in my high school without a Facebook page. It’s a waste of time to me. I’m all for business and capitalism, but when I heard the news about them and the Israel/Palestine conflict, that was the final nail in the coffin. Now that I hear Suckerburg (intentional) is supporting Obama, I just decided to laugh at the people on FB.

      Better idea, if they do so with the ‘garbage protest’ then let us also take it to the offices and homes of Pelosi and Reid, along with the White House as a gift to Obama.       The prophetic reason America is worth fighting for

      In reading the headlines of late–of war, of domestic unrest, of political calamity in America–many emails to The Daily Jot are falling into a couple of categories. First, a lot of people say that they just want the rapture to come and get them out of here so they do not have to deal with the world. Another group would say that God is in control of everything so why worry about America and what she does. God knows the plan, its his plan and he will work it no matter what we do. While these comments are on the hearts and minds of many, and at least some of the doctrine rings true, they are both misguided and wrong minded. I know I will step on a lot of toes here, just know that I do so out of love that you might not be deceived.

      As for the rapture. The scriptures over and over tell us that we will not know the time or the season when the Lord will return. Acts 1:7, Jesus says, “It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.” The Apostle Paul writes in 1 Thessalonians 5:1, “But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write to you.” Jesus said in Matthew 24:36, “But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.” Yes, we can discern the events of these days and know that we are close to the return of Jesus, but we are told to watch, pray, and be about his business. The rapture will come when God says, not when man wants it.

      Yes, God is in control of the plan. But God has always worked through the actions of man. He judges nations. And nations are made up of leaders and followers. And we know that God shall judge the people. In Matthew 25 Jesus continues his discourse on the end times. In verses 31-33, He says, “When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats. And he shall set the sheep on his right hand but the goats on the left.” He goes on to say how he will judge the nations. This specifically speaks of nations.

      America is worth saving because it is still the one place on earth where there is freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Americans are blessed because they traditionally have been purveyors of the Great Commission and have been allies of God’s people. There is judgment coming both for the nations and for the people. I for one would not want to stand before the Lord and have to answer to having a choice of leaders, but choosing ungodly leadership; I would not want to stand before the Lord and have to answer for not being about his business because I was waiting on a rapture. I would not want to stand before the Lord and have to answer for having the authority to overcome evil with good and not have used it. But that’s just me.

      I don‘t know about in your town but isn’t TRASH the responsibility of the LOCAL government??? In CHICAGO the trash is included in your property taxes as they are in OTHER larger towns and cities and those who DON’T have it included pay for pick up themselves.. So in D.C. the FEDERAL government pays for garbage pick up??? have to ask WHY??? I have to say I am about fed up with playing nice with idiots.. If what it comes to pass that the government is shutdown and this moron and company does this and does NOT get arrested.. it’s time to do the same.. remember when BUSH was trying to push through AMNESTY?? they received (both parties) bricks.. to build the fence or shoes representing holding their feet to the fire.. we should consider doing something similar.. rather than trash…

      There is no bigger piece of trash than Mr. Beck. It is fitting that he is popularizing this story. More trash would mean he would become more comfortable in Speaker Boehner’s presence.

      This just in… Congress is close to reaching an agreement that will cut $38 billion from the budget. They are cutting 1.03% from a $3.7 TRILLION budget?!? We have a $14 TRILLION deficit and $100 TRILLION worth of unfunded liabilities and they are cutting 1.03% from the 2011 budget?!? That’s like someone with an annual salary of $100,000, who has a $1 million mortgage and $100,000 in credit card debt, saying he’s going to get his problem under control by paying an extra $86 a month toward the interest on one of his Visa cards. Boehner, you’re a disgrace!!!

      Did you watch Hannity last night? The dems are still blaming BUSH. Educate yourself before you listen to these blame experts of the democrat side. The Conservatives are doing something and the Dems are sitting on their hands blaming the Repubs for not getting this done.

      They blame Bush, saying there was a projected $10 trillion surplus from the Clinton budget. False.
      #1) The Republicans made the balanced budget happen, and forced Clinton to sign something he had already Vetoed.

      #2) The projection was on the back of the Dot Com bubble which popped in 2000, so there goes that $10 trillions surplus.

      #3) Only once during the 4 years of the balanced budget “surplus” was there a true surplus. The other 3 years were padded with social security revenue, the reason why social security is going to FAIL in the comming decade.

      #4) It is 10 years later and Obama and the Dems in 2 years have almost out spent Bushes 8 years in office. This is Obamas deficit till he gets it back down to $8 Trillion. Obama said he would cut the deficit in half, he has actually almost doubled it. Each year that goes by, Obama is out spending Bush’s last year in office by almost triple. Stop blaming Bush, stop blaming the right, stop blaming Beck(he has no say in the budget), this is the Dems and Obama’s fault and the Republicans backed by the TEA party is trying to fix the mess.

      I would only call him a disgrace if he doesn’t get the Paul Ryan plan in place. This was the Dems fault this 2011 budget took this long, he was trying to clean their mess up. Now he has till the end of Sep to get their budget going in the right direction.

      I wish the left would GROW THE “F” UP! Geeze, this is what the union infested leftwing zealots call be responsable? I would suggest the Cops arrest them but I am slowly losing faith in the “union cause” over law enforcement union officers.       Simple fix!
      They have announced that they are going to break the law, (littering). Police should be in place to hand out citations and heavy fines for intentional littering and maybe vandelism. City makes money and the real bad guys in this deal get whats coming to them!

      This is illegal activity they are organizing. We can have this event shut down from displaying on Facebook real easy. We just need a few people to report it as a violation Facebook’s terms of service, which it definitely is. Follow the link to the Facebook event page… scroll to the bottom of page and use the ‘Report event’ link at the bottom. Then select ‘Threat’ from the drop down and the subcategory ‘Vandalism’.

      That’s a great idea!! After all, it was the DumocRATs who got us to where we are now beginning with forcing Fannie and Freddie onto the Bush administration. These rats (and I insult the rats) can pull and twist the truth better than you can pull salt water taffy! They’re trying to make it seem like the Republicans are the villians. They’re the ones that were in charge. They’re the ones that all of the last two years to fix the budget. They did nothing…except to say “Hey! We won. Get over it” until now, the 11th hour. And, surprise, surprise, here they are trying to make it look as if its all the mean ol Republicans and Tea Party’s fault.

      Fine each one of them for illegal dumping, and make it a very, very large fine. I’m sure they could use some new bullet-proof vests, new cars, new anything they need if the fines are steep enough. Dollars are the only thing they seem to care about so spread the wealth.
