Factor Showdown: NAACP Head Can’t Cite Actual Tea Party Racism

Last night, the NAACP‘s Hilary Shelton appeared on O’Reilly to talk about its new website designed to track tea party racism, and asked that the party repudiate any racism by rally attendees. But the problem, as O’Reilly pointed out, is that the party had already done that. Still, Shelton claimed that racism continues. But when pressed for an example, he admitted “the closest things we’ve seen so far is we saw a t-shirt at one the rallies that said something really problematic.” What did it say? Shelton wouldn’t elaborate.

Pretty soon, they’ll have cried “racist” enough, that the word won’t mean anything. If you’re white, you’re RACIST. If you’re old, you’re RACIST. If you espouse a resemblence of a conservative value, you’re a RACIST. If you disagree with someone different than you, you’re a RACIST. If you love America, the Constitution, the Founders, our Armed Forces, somehow…you’re RACIST.

Not racist. Not violent. Just no longer silent…

My experience has been that those who whip out the race card are desperate sorts who have run out of legitimate arguments (if they ever had any) to support their positions. Indeed, by doing so they betray a racist bent themselves. From that moment on their opinions are not worthy of consideration. It is much like the kid arguing on the playground who shouts “your mother wears army boots!” before stalking off.

The days for the NAACP and guys like Sharpton are over. It’s time to stop identifying themselves as different. As long as they refer to themselves as african american they’re making a racial statement. Identify yourselves as something different and people will see you that way. We’re all americans, there are some racists out there in every group and every sane non-racist will repudiate them.

I watched the interview, this gentleman actually is maintaining the myth that racisim can only be perpetrated by whites.
According to this man Mr. Shabazz could not be considered racist because of his “I hate crackers” comments; because racism needs “power + predjudice”; what a crock.
I have said elsewhere on this site that people should be taken (largely) as individuals…but this man, & others like him can’t see that people act as individuals. One man in a t-shirt taints everyone who has ever attended a “tea-party”; but if someone suggests that he shares responsibility with someone like Rev. Wright….”That’s not fair”, or Mr. Shabazz…that’s racially insensitive, or whatever.
I think it is fair to say that Mr. Shabazz IS a racist, I don’t know about Mr. Shelton, so my default position is that he is not.

If you are looking for examples of Tea Party racism, look no further than this website. One person commented last night that we should be burning muslims, not just korans, while another person referred to muslims as “carbon life forms” and basically went on to say they deserved to die.

Now granted, that was only two people out of many. However, i seemed to be the only person on this site that called either of these people to task. If the tea party doesn;t like to be labeled as racist, then it needs to do a much better job standing up to people like this in their own ranks. They haven’t done a good job about this in the past, and they aren’t doing a good job of it now.

You may have a point, the reason I don‘t call people like that to task as you suggest is that it isn’t worth my time. Likewise everyone is entitled to thgier opinion…even if it is hateful, racist, sexist, etc. I don’t have to agree, nor do I have to argue with them…sometimes its better to just walk away & ignore it.
While attending a rally, event, etc. its a little different from posts on a website.

Number one, not all of us here are Tea Party members. Number 2, these people you speak of and YOU are following the Cass Sunstein playbook on infiltrating message boards and alternative news siites to discredit them. Number 3, if we ignore these people and YOU, they will eventually get very tired of wasting their time trying to incite. Props to your attempts but as you can see, they are failing miserably. By addressing each and every thing that someone says off color, it hijacks the content of the conversation which is exactly what the left wants. So, ignoring the obvious attempts to cause disruption here is probably the best move. I would rather have to read and skip one comment than have to weed through a few hundred that were all caused by one person trying to change the subject. Move on now….

Nice things about being in the Marine Corps, they teach everyone that we are all green. Some might be light green and some darker green, but we are all green and we all are on the same team. That was back in 1987.
Today all Tea Party people are bad because of a dork with an offensive t-shirt? Get real. Yet all muslims are good except for the few that commit mass murder? Liberalism is a mental disease.

Sometimes it’s better to just ignore people like that… take the wind out of their sails. good example… this wack job that wants to burn the Koran. Just let him do it, the media shouldn’t cover it at all. He can sit in his church with his tiny (and probably shrinking) group of followers at his church and burn whatever the heck he wants. The more we have to talk about it and pay attention to them the more coverage they get and the more bold they become. I hear someone make a racist comment I walk away. I don’t have to argue with them.

When the day comes that every time someone makes a racial statement everyone that saw it has to denounce it… come on, give me a break.

Also good to keep in mind that not everyone here are tea partiers. There are forum trolls galore as soon as the site was announced, and plenty that come on here just to stir up trouble. Most of the time, if you see extreme comments, they are merely trolling to get a strong reaction out of you, and replying to them in any way simply feeds them and makes them more eager to do it again. As long as Islam urges, declares and wages war (Holy or otherwise) against non-muslims -AND- the majority of so-called “moderate/peaceful” muslims ignore, tolerate or take an agnostic position against the jihadis, then I see no reason for you, me or anyone else to get worked up over *anyone* denigrating our sworn enemies. They declared war upon the west; not the other way around.

If I *ever* note the “moderate/peaceful” muslims taking a vociferous stand against the jihadis; if I ever see those “moderate/peaceful” muslims protesting en masse against jihadis; if I ever note a mainstream muslim media source consistently and adamantly condemning jihadis with the same vigor that *WE* consitently condemn the extreme, wacko christian nutjobs, *THEN* I’ll be concerned about a few posters insulting those who declared war against the west — regardless of their race, creed, or skin-color.

On what do you base your charge of “Racisim” other than your own conclusion that they hate muslims; ergo, it must be solely about race? Certainly they can be biased against muslims for many reasons other than race. For instance, muslims attacked America on numerous occasions, culminating in 9/11. Not to mention that they have a clear propensity for sawing peoples heads off; stoning women to death for getting raped; genitally multilating little girls; publically lashing people for not praying when ordered to do so… I could go on and on. Muslims invite a plethora of perfectly valid reasons to dislike or even *hate* them that has *ZERO* basis in race.

Would you call Theodore Roosevelt a “racist” when he related the following – the need to beat back the moslem invader with hammer & sword or do you identify more with the former christians of Asia and Africa who were destroyed or converted:

“…Christianity was saved in Europe solely because the peoples of Europe fought. If the peoples of Europe in the seventh and eighth centuries, and on up to and including the seventeenth century, had not possessed a military equality with, and gradually a growing superiority over the Mohammedans who invaded Europe, Europe would at this moment be Mohammedan and the Christian religion would be exterminated.

Wherever the Mohammedans have had complete sway, wherever the Christians have been unable to resist them by the sword, Christianity has ultimately disappeared. From the hammer of Charles Martel to the sword of Sobieski, Christianity owed its safety in Europe to the fact that it was able to show that it could and would fight as well as the Mohammedan aggressor. …..

The civilization of Europe, American and Australia exists today at all only because of the victories of civilized man over the enemies of civilization because of victories through the centuries from Charles Martel in the eighth century and those of John Sobieski in the seventeenth century. During the thousand years that included the careers of the Frankish soldier and the Polish king, the Christians of Asia and Africa proved unable to wage successful war with the Moslem conquerors; and in consequence Christianity practically vanished from the two continents; and today, nobody can find in them any “social values” whatever, in the sense in which we use the words, so far as the sphere of Mohammedan influences are concerned.

There are such “social values” today in Europe, America and Australia only because during those thousand years, the Christians of Europe possessed the warlike power to do what the Christians of Asia and Africa had failed to do — that is, to beat back the Moslem invader…”

As a conservative, I have visited several LIBERAL forums. I received personal attacks from forum members after most every post I made. So don’t come on here and preach to forum members about racial piety. Racism exists in America, period. That fact has nothing to do with personal or party affiliations, and everything to do with the individual. If I’m a racist and join the boy scouts, does that make the boy scouts a racist organization? Racism has no business being brought into the political discussion, and to do so means you have no strength or conviction in your political doctrine.

I never truly understood the phase “the truth shall set you free” until recently. In the face of the liberal progressive onslaught of lies and distortion it has become blatantly obvious that when faced with truth and facts they have no coherent rebuttal. This is the case at all levels of society. Locally in our neighborhoods, state wide and nationally. The number of truth tellers in America is far greater than those who use lies to advance their philosophy. And as Glenn Beck has said we have already won. Meaning we now know the key to beating back the 5% of Americans who want to destroy this country. The key since the beginning of time has been the relentless pursuit of the truth!

What I like about that verse is the “shall set you free” part. I like this because it’s clear God made us so that we crave freedom. Every human craves freedom! Therefore, to acquire TRUE freedom, we must relentlessly pursue the truth. The truth exists in only one place which is the Word of God. The Word is so powerful, a man in prsion can be free while a man on the outside may not be. That is why the Apostle Paul was free even when shackled in prison. Because he knew the Truth – He knew Christ. Any person has the ability to find and the access to true freedom – ask Jesus into your life and ask HIm to show you the Truth and you will be free. You do not need additional books, the Bible (the Word of God) is sufficient. Organized religion (Mormonism, Catholisism, etc.) is just man made noise that muddys up the Truth. Seek Jesus and Jesus alone. – “Who the Son sets free is free indeed.”

It sounds like NAACP has to continually repudiate their own members because they have the racist problem. Not the Tea Party.

But they won’t because they have convinced themselves that blacks can NOT be racists. The NAACP had better wake up. At the present time they are on the third rung of a four rung ladder. What will they do and say when Hispanics replace them on that rung and blacks are pushed down to the second rung? Will racists then reside only in White and Hispanic communities? NAACP and Cynthia Tucker should ponder that before speaking about racism.

Let’s be honest. If the NAACP was truly interested in the “Advancement of Colored People” they would have stood up for Clarence Thomas, Condy Rice, and Colin Powell when the progressive started their usual stone throwing.

Ignore them….ignore any group that claims to stand for a specific group of people other than the American people. This only divides us.

For a brief time, I taught Business at a histroically black university. I tried to go to most of the discussions on raqcism in America so I coulod understand the thinking. After one of these seesions, I went up to a group ofr black professors and simply said that there are also black racists. They were shocked at my ignorance of the definition of racism that the NAACP uses. The proper position is that blacks can‘t be racists because they don’t control the power institutions in the USA. If you listen closely to the NAACP person, you will hear him say this. Unfortuanely both were talking over each other but you will hear that agruement stated.

Even using their definition, this no longer holds as Obama is black and has great power. Thus, Glenn Beck’s remark that Obama is a racist is true by their own definition.

@ VERITAS51322, I’m sure that would be classified as a “racist” tee shirt with “hate” rhetoric written all over it, at least according to the NAACP and their new “racism” police.

It‘s funny how only the NAACP is the sole authority tasked to define what constitutes and what doesn’t constitute racism. Accusing the U.S. Government of genocide against American citizens because of the color of their skin is by no means racist or hate speech (according to the NAACP), but expressing disagreement with a president’s progressive agenda will unequivocally and without hesitation place the racism rubber stamp on any such individual.

Organizations like the NAACP can only exist by creating “racism” where racism would otherwise not exist. We have come a long way as a nation since the civil rights movement and what little racism is left over can be attributed to organizations like the NAACP who ensure the flame of racism does not die out. They continually pick at scabs of racism lest hey heal and their organizations seize to exist.

I remember seeing a t-shirt at the rally a the capitol. It was some college kid wearing a hand painted shirt that said “Acorn-trained Pimp” He was white. Maybe that was the shirt he was thinking of as problematic.

The T-shirt can be seen at the following link:

      http://www.teapartytracker.org/blog_entry/t-shirt-from-8-28-rally

The most offensive thing about the t-shirt is that he misspelled “Mauritania” … I mean, really! … it makes the guy look illiterate … not racist. I think his point is that while slavery still exists in Africa, the United States abolished it within 100 years of the formation of the country. His statement was not racist… it was a tribute to the form of government that led to emancipation. He is merely pointing out how other forms of government in Africa cannot extricate itself from such abhorrent practices.

I was at the Restoring Honor Rally and got a real good sense of the social climate of “our” group and knew that their indictments to prove our ignorance would result in the evidence of our honor.

You are so right. Obama has made it so much more difficult for us to get beyond race. Between him and Hillary, and to some extent Sarah, every non-white non-male candidate for president will be more heavily scrutinized before getting into office in the next few decades, and rightly so. One small step forward, but a huge fall back for blacks. A shame indeed.

He never did say what the t-shirt said…nor did he show any form of evidence, such as even a picture or witness. Jeremiah Wright, Al Sharpton, and Jesse Jackson’s racism is, unfortunately for them, on tape…“proudly” spoken for all to see. Organizations such as the NAACP are among the most prejudiced and racist organizations out there. The volatility in their words are just as bad as the speech found in modern Ku Klux Klan rallies. If you don’t believe me, Google videos of their speeches..pure hate speech.

NAACP, Sharpton, etc, no longer have any reason to exist and so have to manufacture various racial oppressions and civil rights violations. They must do this to perpetuate their positions of power and the monies they collect from the government (taxpayers) and those in their thrall.
The have morphed ML King’s message of individual responsibility and justice to one of redistribution of wealth and socialism. So very sad.

It wasn’t a showdown, either. OR kept saying “…with all due respect.” That’s not a showdown in my book. A showdown would have called the guy on the veracity of his comments. None of them were true. And at no time has the NAACP been authorized to police any group – so tend to your own business.

I’m an all American with blood of several noble ethnic groups flowing in my veins, Irish, Scot, Italiian, Native American and probably a few others could be added to the list. I’m equally proud of each of them. All have contributed in some form to who I am today. At some point in my ancestral tree there is probably African American blood that can and should be added to the special formula of my and many of my fellow American’s unique “ Heinz 57 ” heritage. Race is immaterial in making me who and what I am today, but character determines how I react to negative situations, racial or otherwise.

It says something for our American society that some call racist and bigotted when you can have an organization called NAACP, “ Natiional Association for the Advancement of Colored People” but there is no organization called the NAAWP, “ National Associatioin for the Advancement of White People”. Why is that? Could it be that most Americans that happen to be white realize that such an organization would be detrimental and antagonistic towards Americans that happen to be black? All races at one point in history have been persecuted by other races and some have a history of persecuting their own race, not because of differences of skin color but because of differences of thoughts and opinions. All Americns should be color blind and open minded and then, maybe we could get along with one another and cut each other a little slack.
