Fake Article Prompts NYC Mosque Opponents to Boycott Justin Bieber

The debate over the Ground Zero mosque has Americans’ running on high emotions and short tempers, as evidenced by the latest efforts to boycott the proposed Islamic center project, dubbed “Park 51.”

Some opponents of the project recently launched a boycott of pop star Justin Bieber over the Canadian singer’s reported support for the Ground Zero mosque project. The only problem is, Bieber apparently never endorsed the project, or even discussed it publicly for that matter.

The alleged Bieber-Tiger Beat interview appeared on a website called CelebJihad.com:

In an interview with Tiger Beat, the pop sensation stressed that freedom of religion is what makes America great, and went on to say that those who oppose the Mosque are motivated by bigotry.

“Muslims should be allowed to build a mosque anywhere they want,” the singer said. “Coming from Canada, I’m not used to this level of intolerance, eh.”

Bieber went on to say that Muslims are “super cool,” Christians are “lame-o-rama,” and that the mosque will help “start a dialogue” with all religions about which Justin Bieber song is the most awesome.

“I was like seven when September 11th went down, and frankly I’m surprised people are still going on about it. Move on, already!”

The interview was later discovered to be a complete fabrication, but not before Ground Zero mosque opponents organized an online boycott of Bieber via Facebook:

“Justin took an adult position and spoke out in support of the mosque in tigar beat [sic] magazine,” a page administrator wrote. “He one of the most influential teen sensations … If he is going to play like the big boys he better expect some back lash…”

The website that started the rumor, CelebJihad.com, is actually a self-described “satirical” site that features “published rumors, speculation, assumptions, opinions, fiction as well as factual information.”

Salon.com reached out to the website’s proprietor who confirmed that the Bieber story was a hoax.  “[T]he fact that some people take it seriously is hilariously depressing,” he said.

Hey, I’m kind of proud of the organizational skills it took to put together the boycott of a Bieber so quickly. Consider the incident a shot over the bow of those entertainers who are stupid enough to say things like this. And believe me, they’re out there.

A couple of dummies falling for a story that couldn’t be more obviously fake and then typing the word boycott on a website is not organizing a boycott. There is no evidence that it ever cost Mr. Bieber the sale of a single song or album.

Personally I can coexist with just about anyone with the exception of a person capable and desiring to commit terrorist acts because the religion is intolerant of other religions.

“Canadian, figures. Possibly the French influence.”

You don’t know very much about Canada… can you get any more stereotypical? It’s the equivalent of an old Japanese man stepping off a plane in New York and saying “Howdy, cowboy!” to everyone he sees.

The best part is, you didn’t even read the article (or the entire headline) judging from your comment.

Just a tip if you ever come up here: most Canadians aren’t very liberal. Also, they can’t stand the French. The French can’t stand us either, which is why Quebec keeps trying to separate.

      “French influence”

      LOL…

Typical of a Canaduhian parasite (they love that we pay for their military defense), eh? But they live in a fog, anyway:

    10/16/09 The Vancouver Sun:

That 2007 report, by the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, found 16.8 per cent of Canadians aged 15 to 64 smoked marijuana or used other cannabis products in 2004, the highest of any industrialized nation.

Why do they always say “eh?” at the end of each sentence?

Just because you say your a mechanic, doesn’t mean you know anything about cars. See what Mr. Bieber does with his claims. They say,
“The fact that some people take it seriously is hilariously depressing,”

This is exactly how they run their playbook, if there is a controversial issue in America the media and others try to do things like this to make you feel stupid for “getting worked up over nothing” and then continue to desensitize you more and more so they can continue to push their agenda. Their hopes that if they say it enough times and for long enough that you will start to believe it. Just like the mosque, Islam has a stealth agenda to grow speedily in America with as little resistance as possible. It’s the religion of peace you know, it’s misunderstood, it’s a fringe minority that are bad.

Be thankful to people like Terry Jones who have shined a light on what really happens when you disagree with their agenda of domination and intimidation.
