‘False Prophets’: Protesters Greet Beck & Palin

The joint appearance by Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin was sure to draw protesters. And it did. Despite some prediction that hundreds would demonstrate, it seems only 60 or so showed up. One heckler did interrupt the evening:
Beck and Palin were interrupted at one point by a heckler, who was escorted out. Anchorage talk radio host Eddie Burke evidently had some role in corralling the protestor, as Palin said “thanks Eddie, Eddie Burke,” to applause from the Dena’ina Center crowd. “We all know each other here,” she told Beck.
“I know, it’s like a high school classroom,” Beck said.
The Anchorage Daily News talked to some of the demonstrators:
Protestors said Beck and Palin’s true aim was promoting themselves and getting richer with divisive rhetoric. The protestors held signs like “Quitters and Liars Revival” and “Quit 4 Money” and “False Prophets.”
“I do not believe Sarah Palin has any motivation other than making money and I believe Glenn Beck is the same way,” said Paula Standefer, who drove from Kenai for the Dena’ina Center protest and a similar one held at the Anchorage park strip earlier in the day. “He’s laughing all the way to the bank.”
Standefer said she was disturbed by the number of younger people who were waiting in line to see Beck, saying “I see people too young to be buying into his b.s.”
Here’s video coverage from KTUU-TV:
“I think they’ve done more to discredit this country and to — I don’t know — destroy the dialogue that we could be having than anybody else in recent history,” said protester Kathy Russell.

God permits the existence of the sick, elderly, dying, minority and disabled (among others) in order to let you show YOU care. The antithesis to God creates the situation for such events in order to prove that you don’t.
You have a free will in order to choose “yes or no”.
Do you choose to see the suffering through your own eyes, because you surely cannot see it through God’s.

Here’s another fact, I have never been on the Kos website so I can’t really “go back” to it, can I? Its quite odd on this site, I see a lot of moaning about how the left can‘t discuss issues for various inane reasons yet whenever someone on the left genuinely attempts to converse with you they are automatically labelled as a troll or a paid for infiltrator because they don’t fall into line with your dogma. You argue that the left is afraid or worried because our views can’t stand up to the “truth” or we can’t defend them with any substance. Yet all I see on here from you is a parade of slogans, rhetoric, one-liners, and regurgitated talking points. This fact combined with the instant vilification, without merit, of those who dare to question your views begs the question, which of us is really scared that our stance does not hold up to scrutiny?

Report Post »poppopschell
Posted on September 12, 2010 at 9:33pmGNOME is all too often right because we do also have our talking points. I think he raised a valid point. He doesn’t deserve to be attcked for this.
The issue is the vision that the Founding Fathers had for protecting liberty through small central govt with most power residing in the state and the people. They were students of history. They thus created checks and balances at the Fed level with the 3 branches. We’ve seen what has happened when the limits of power among the three have been ignored.
They also KNEW from long history that power seems to always gravitate to the center… i.e is consolidated sometimes leading to autocracy or even a dictatorship. Since the states were required to be Republics to join the Union and were more directly in tough with the people, they would be “jealous” of their power/rights and would help stop consolidation of power. We were structured to be a Republic of Republics. In essence, the Senators were “ambassadors” for their Republics elected by the state reps that the people have chosen. They were thus a balance of power between centralization and decentralization.
All one has to do is see what has hapenned since the passage of the Amendment making Senators directly electable by the people. The ce3ntralization of power in DC is so far advanced that the states in many areas are simply puppets of the central governmet.
This is why so many in the Constitutionalist movement are for ideas such as nullification and fighting again for the 9th and 10th Amendments.
I hope this the type of respectful response you were seeking?

Reason, this is one of the things progressives FEAR, this is how the constitution had it originally & was to insure that the States retained their soverignty…it would also reduce the effects of lobbyists.

Report Post »No, because much of the problem in DC is that the Senators stopped serving the States they supposedly represent & now serve only their political parties.
The States are part of an agreed upon collective, they are not supposed to be completely subserviant to the Federal government, they are likewise supposed to maintain a unique character all their own, much of which has been lost, I pray not irrevocably.

Posted on September 12, 2010 at 2:34pmI used to live in Anchorage for many years. At that time, and probably still, the Republican Party is very strong and there are also many Independents and Libertarians. And Moderate — or what we used to call Moderate Democrats. But California has always been but a short plane ride away and Anchorage especially has become inflitrated with more very liberal folks, to put it kindly, from Seattle down through California. The Califronians had to leave their own state because they’ve messed it up so badly but they always think they can bring what they consider utopian ideas elsewhere, and all of them seem to know how to complain about nothing and carry a placard. Also, the Teamsters and Unions are very very strong in Anchorage, and I wouldn’t be surprised if that is the source of some of this liberal angst against Glenn and Sarah et al.

What the progressive left and the progressive right are worried about is that their gravy train is fixing to come to an end. Their jobs are in jeopardy and they are not educated enough in the real world to survive.
If you would only think about what those elites have and you do not. Do you really think that they have your best interests in mind? I would bet that you will be one of the last people that the progressives will reward for your loyality. You will end up like one of those cheap china made tools to a mechanic. When I first heard Beck I knew there was hope for this Country. He talks about what it is really going to take to turn this Country around. Regaining individual responsibility in our society is the key. Beck may not always be right about how to do it, but if people would just seriously listen to him, exercise their brain a little and it will do them wonders. Even when they still do not agree. I always thought a charity looks like a food bank, blood donation, animal rescue, foster parents and that it is a dual blessing to the giver and to the recipient. Posted on September 12, 2010 at 10:49pmAs Mr Beck has shown clearly It’s all about God no matter your religion. It’s way past time we set that aside and pull together as one under God. This is God’s Country not ours. We are here to care for and enjoy it as one people. If we continue with the pointless bickering and patronizing of agitators, who stir things up for personal validation or gain, we will soon find ourselves in a state of poverty heretofore unknown.
It’s hard to believe that good people respond more to the few negative comments on blogs than to something good and uplifting. Were we to ignore them they would promptly go elsewhere.

Posted on September 12, 2010 at 11:13pmI am beyond the point of being tired of people saying that one group hates another because they disagree. Evangelicals and Mormons disagree on matters of theology. That does not mean that one group necessarily hates the other.
My wife and I disagree on some matters of theology as well, but we’ve managed to get along just fine for 11 years. The whole discussion of “so and so is a mormon,“ or so and ”so is an evangelical” is getting to the point of assinine. If a bunch of guys with differing beliefs (Christians of varying stripes and a few deists) could get together in the name of liberty almost 250 years ago, why can’t we do the same without getting distracted by petty issues.

You Mormon haters out there need to get over it. Mormons and Catholics (along with many other sects, of course) joined forces to defeat the undemocratic neutering of marriage in California. I have likewise marched with thousands of Catholics, evangelicals, protestants, etc. to protest abortion. Our interfaith coalition is an expression of our Christianity and is an effective tool against the liberals. Divided, we remain as weak as we ever were.
Yes, they do have very different theological views, but their views on morals are very much the same. That is what drew Beck and Palin together, and what drew the millions to the Restoring Honor Rally.
If you’re not mature enough to work with someone of a different Christian faith on such an important work, then you better take your toys and go home. We don’t need you.

Posted on September 13, 2010 at 2:24amThe reason why Mormons are promoting their love and worship for our Savior the Lord Jesus Christ is becuase of the unlearned comments promoted by Mormon haters. I actually thank you for bringing up this issue (not to argue it here, it’s innapropriate) so doubters and the unsure can get it straight from another Mormon. Our church bears His name, we read and try to live His word from the Holy Bible, and we take upon us His name each week at sacrament (communion).
Come to a meeting sometime, or read the Book of Mormon (it’s all about Christ!). Let’s work together. There is a lot of common ground between us you just don’t know about. There is no room for hate in our movement. Let’s restore honor to America.

No, she is Assemblies of God. (Pentecostal)
Report Post »AmericaAgain, I don‘t know that I’d go so far as to say they are not Christian. (I know a bit about them because my wife became one.) Now many of their beliefs and doctrines ARE quite divergent from orthodox Christian belief, such as being baptized for deceased family, marriage in heaven etc.
I’m an above-average Bible student and most of the things I have a problem with are those to which, bottom-line don‘t make any difference or for which we won’t have smoking-gun evidence as long as we’re in this world.
That said, they do believe that Jesus of Nazareth was the Son of God who laid down his life as atonement for sin. And the discipline and humility in which they are taught to live their lives should be the envy of every other church. So my take on the Mormons, I defer to St Paul (Gal 5-23) : “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
“25If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. 26Let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.”
