‘Fascists Go Home!’: Tea Partier Injured in Assault by ‘Teamster’ at Sacramento Protest

The MoveOn.org “American Dream” rally in Sacramento produced one of the day’s more volatile moments. A man wearing a Teamsters Local 439 jacket launched major body-check action on a Tea Party member.
The opposing rallies were divided by 10th Street, west of the State Capitol. All was peaceful, until members supporting unions crossed the street.
An amateur videographer caught a shoving match on tape. The video showed a face to face argument right before Richard Andazola, 28, of Stockton, shoved a tea party activist.
“He bum rushed across the street, came right at us, swung his bullhorn at me, hit me in the hand and then put his hand around my throat and started choking me,” Rodney Stanhope of Placerville said.
The video doesn’t show the choking incident, but clearly shows the shoving. Because of it, Sacramento Police officers cited Andazola for battery.
Andazola tells a different story though.
“He was spitting on me, he’s bigger than me, and I told him to get off of me,” Andazola said. “I was backing up and he was staying on me ’til the point that he spit in my mouth.”
Here is the moment in question:

I don’t think they should be ENDED.
Just drastically reduced.
Such as government, it doesn’t need ending, but drastic reduction.
In regards to the IRS and Federal Reserve, however, they need ENDING.
END the FED and the IRS.

If all unions are ended then the Dems biggest contributers are gone and we can destroy Democrat power in the government probably for 20 years until they can talk enough busineses to give them enough dollars to stand up to the Republicans. I think one party Republican rule for 20 years will be enough to get America back on the right path again.

What is nazi short for?
It’s a contraction consisting of the first two syllables of the German word for National Socialist (Nationalsozialist). (It is not an acronym, and the recent custom of spelling the word in capitals is incorrect.)
It means a member or adherent of the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei – often abbreviated NSDAP). In English Nazi is also used as an adjective.
Note that in German the word is a noun and is generally applied only to people.

“Röhm and the SA regarded themselves as the vanguard of the “National Socialist revolution.” After Hitler’s takeover, they expected radical changes in Germany, with power and rewards for them. However, Hitler’s use of the SA as storm troopers was a political weapon he no longer needed.
Along with Joseph Goebbels, Gottfried Feder and Walther Darré, Röhm was a prominent member of the party’s “socialist” faction. This group took the words “Sozialistische” and “Arbeiter” (“worker”) in the party’s name literally. They largely rejected capitalism (which they associated with Jews) and pushed for nationalisation of major industrial firms, expanded worker control, confiscation and redistribution of the estates of the old aristocracy and social equality. Röhm spoke of a “second revolution” against “reactionaries” (the National Socialist label for old-line conservatives), as the National Socialists had previously dealt with the Communists and Socialists.
All this was threatening to the business community, which had supported Hitler’s rise to power. So Hitler swiftly reassured businessmen that there would be no “second revolution.“ Many ”storm troopers” were of working-class origins and had expected a socialist programme. In fact, it was often said at the time that members of the SA were like a beefsteak — “brown on the outside and red on the inside”. They were now disappointed by the new regime’s lack of socialist direction and also failure to provide the lavish patronage expected. Röhm even publicly criticized Hitler for his failure to carry through the National Socialist revolution.”

Posted on February 27, 2011 at 6:13pmTheVirginian, you make some good points.
Before 1934 there was a “left wing” in Hitler’s party, centered in the SA. In the murky and violent atmosphere of the times, there was even a lot of coming and going beteeen Communists and Nazis: street fighting skills were valuable to both. The red color of Nazi banners was meant to provoke the Socialists and Communists, and at the same time (hopefully) to attract workers. Nazi art featured burly worker types with hammers (the better to beat Marxists with). Most notably, in 1932, Nazis and Communists briefly both supported a transit workers’ strike in Berlin. Unlike Mussolini’s Fascists before 1922, the Nazis were careful not to let themselves be used as strikebreakers. Many in the SA did see themselves as the vanguard of a workers’ revolution, not grasping that Hitler intended something more radical: a racial revolution. They paid the price for this misunderstanding in 1934.
But let’s not get carried away. None of this made the Nazis a truly left-wing, labor or union-based, or even union-sympathetic party. In the Reichstag, they sat to the right of the Nationalists. Few employed workers ever joined the Nazi unions, such as they were, or the Nazi Party before 1933. The Nazis competed unevenly with the Communists for unemployed workers to swell the SA, and none of the Party’s highest leadership could be described as of working-class origin.
I hate to bring it up, but there’s also the little matter of who was paying for all the beer hall rallies, street demonstrations, propaganda leaflets, and uniforms and weapons–not to mention the airplane that ferried Hitler around the country in 1932! Before that, it’s a total canard that “big business backed Hitler.” Cult-like, the Nazis drew most funding from fervent believers who were encouraged to “tithe,” so to speak, and pump their savings dry. In 1932, though, the Nazi drive, with its endless electioneering, had to rely on the “big RMs,” and these it got from heavy industry and the banking establishment, in exchange for promises that Hitler would smash Marxism and stifle the Communist, Socialist and confession-based unions, which he proceeded to do.

The teachers really care about the kids and do a great job preparing them for the future. I grew up in a small town and my experiences at public school made it a easy choice to not send my kids. Just one example- I was in 4th grade when I saw a fellow student getting beat up by a female teacher- he was punched and slammed up against the radiator, the school was not concerned and she got away with it.

Report Post »I appreciate your comments. I too put my boys in a Catholic school even though we weren’t Catholic. The school’s administration was extremely responsive to parents and had the authority and respect needed to run the school. The teachers were mostly good to great and the in the rare case one was not, normally a new one, they were gone within a year, sometimes mid-term. Try that in a public school. Definitely sent a message. Paying a very high property rate made tuition both difficult to afford but also it really burned my @$$. The $s I was paying for tuition was at least 50% less than the town was spending per child in the public system. With that said, the Catholic school was cleaner, better maintained, and just a much better environment for the kids. By the way, resources were very slim in the school. My boys were not angels and each ran up against some disciplinary issues. The deal was they were confronted fair and square with the warning that if it continued, they’d be gone. Scared them straight because they were both embarassed (shame has a purpose) and they definitely didn’t want to return to public school. The biggest thing that made me angry was learning the teachers were making much less than public school teachers. Thats when the light really went off: The public union system is corrupt and is failing our society!!! Its starving the kids of a good education which in turn undermines our democracy and the exceptionalism of our free market economy. The hell of it is public unions are just one of the things that really need to go to win this country back to our constitutional republic with a vibrant free market economy. America has been traveling on parrallel tracks for too long. Too many like us have opted out of public school and other failing aspects of the liberal-progressive controlled America AT OUR EXPENSE. They take our tax dollars and then we spend whats left on ensuring our values and standards are not comprimised by participating in their failed and corrupt institutions. Now we’ve arrived at a crisis. Despite the grossly excessive taxation, progressives still managed to spend us ALL into oblivion and destroyed the economy for ALL of us. Freedom loving, Truth seekers can no longer sit on the fence, pay the piper, and while the progressive-liberal ideology is ruining our nation. Of course I’m just describing what the tea party movement is all about. God bless it! Either the balance of the American people keep focused to continue the statement made in the 2010 midterm elections OR we learn how effective decades of progressive indoctrination and the exploding welfare-entitlement state has been in delivering us to the tipping point of no return. These are times that try men’s souls. 2012 can’t get here fast enough!

Posted on February 27, 2011 at 2:36pmLloyd, may I suggest you read “Why Hitler Came into Power” by Theodore Abel? Published in 1938, it contains autobiographical works from those who supported Hitler. There is much more to it, but it is clear that the Nazi party combined German Nationalism WITH socialism and that was a major part of the draw. As I read the book I came to believe that without the economic dislocation of nearly every aspect of German society Hitler could not have come to power. German society was quite stratified, and large numbers of Germans worked for the state. The whole fabric of society was being threatened by a rapidly changing world and into this void came communists and fascists who promised a better way. Read about the early days of Germany post WWI and it is startling to realize that essentially a civil war was taking place, one between Communists and the German form of Fascism. It is startling because it is history that once again, is not taught in schools. Nazism was in large parts, the response of the German people against Communists who were attempting to take over Germany. The fact that many prominent Jews were also Communists but who were Capitalists in their own life, while urging Communism on others, led to much of the early antisemitism. Think George Soros here. The similarities between the 30′s and now should give many pause.
I say that specifically because the tactics the Communists used then are not much different than the left use today. The chaos caused gave an opening to people who focused on social justice because they understood the pain the German people were in, and then they exacerbated the class and ethnic differences for political gain. Communists of the time were attempting to erase class and ethnic differences, the Nazi’s, understanding German society, enhanced those differences instead. I don‘t mean to sound like the Communists were the good guys here because they weren’t. But if someone truly wants to understand Fascism, including the German brand, it is necessary to highlight differences and similarities between the Communism and Fascism. Communists wanted to take property and make it the states, a huge problem for Germans, who had a much lower population of what was peasants than say Russia or France. Fascists were willing to let people kept their property and businesses, it’s just the state would tell them what to produce, how to produce and when to do so. That then took some of the risk out of capitalism and promised less chaos. It also required larger numbers of people employed by the state to enforce all those regulations, which decreased unemployment, which made the German people happy. The state therefore made unions obsolete, everyone was working for the same end and that end was for the betterment of the volk, through the agency of the state.
Report Post »By and large Fascism is a much more efficient form of socialism, a more militant communism. No stretch of the imagination makes the Tea Party movement or those attempting to back down government from within the Republican Party into Nazi’s or Fascists. It is only historical illiteracy and flat out lying from transference that can make that occur. Obama‘s and today’s lefts policies are close to Fascism than to Communism. One only has to do some research and reading to see it quite clearly.

Mere Citizen,
Most of your analysis of the Nazi phenomenon is accurate, but not all. Abel is valuable, but much research on Nazism postdates 1938! Richard Evans’ recent 3-volume “The 3rd Reich” takes up most of the controversies and draws on lots of sources that have arisen since, and weighs them fairly.
The best way to approach Hitler’s “socialism” is by way of your observation that German society was highly stratified: honors, titles, dress and decorations meant something. Officially, the Nazis ignored these things, welcoming rich, poor, aristocrat, commoner, worker, farmer, middle class, rural, urban, Protestant, Catholic (just not Jewish!), whatever. Hitler when it suited him claimed to be a worker, on the basis of a few odd jobs in his early 20s.. In practice, few Nazis were working-class before 1933; the Nazis made various attempts to take over existing unions or create their own, with no success at all. Most German working-class folk, if not devoutly Catholic, had bought into one form or another of Marxism–Socialist or Communist–by the time the Depression hit. The German Communists especially were the ones who, as you so well put it, “came into the void” created by World War I, and Nazism (and other fascist movements) were in the literal sense “reactionary” because the Communists really had been the first to unleash serious civil violence in 1919.
Your most interesting comment is that Communists wanted to erase class and ethnic distinctions, while Nazis wanted to enhance them. Sorta wrong and sorta right. Communists preached class conflict for now, a classless society later, They denounced racism and nationalism as spawn of capitalism which would disappear when it did. Nazis based their whole ideology on the idea of racial hierarchy: the master race should stifle the preachers of class conflict (”first they came for the communists, then they came for the socialists”) so that the purified unified racial community could expand and subjugate inferior breeds. But Communists of course were not above ethnic prejudices despite themselves, and the Nazis, despite their view that all Germans except Jews should be joined in a blonde, apple-cheeked “racial comradeship,” displayed a keen sense of class and played on it: Hitler sometimes affected the guise of a bluff, simple worker and sometimes tricked himself out in formal dress with a lot of heel-clicking and ladies’-hand-kissing.
I don’t agree with you that Nazism was a more efficient form of socialism than communism. It wasn’t very efficient at all, as the test of World War II proved! There were overlapping jurisdictions, rival bureaucratic and military hierarchies, redundant agencies, uncoordinated programs and projects from start to finish. Nor was it socialism. The commonly accepted definition of socialism includes state ownership of the land, factories and basically all :”means of production,” so by your admission the Nazis were only nominally socialist: farmers kept their land titles, corporations made profits and paid dividends, homeowners (except Jewish ones) were not turned out of their homes by “committees of the poor” as in Lenin’s Russia. Hitler revealed his real views on labor when he destroyed Communist, Socialist and Catholic trade unions in 1933. He replaced them with a new labor organization of his own, one which included all workers and in which all but cosmetic advantages were on the side of management–Nazi management, with Nazis becoming capitalists and capitalists, if they knew what was good for them, becoming Nazis.
Two other groups you bring up deserve mention: peasants and Jews. German farmers dreaded Communist expropriation and collectivization and so backed the Nazis in large numbers, and who can blame them? Jews were prominent neither in Germany‘s Communist Party not in the ranks of Germany’s biggest capitalist interests. Some who were prominent in culture and the arts–big battlegrounds in Weimar days as now–were Communists, but not Party biggies. Jewish capital was mostly in commerce and banking, not industry, and I can’t think of any Jews who were both prominent in German Communist politics and at the same time big market players. I challenge you to name one!
I for one have never called Tea Partiers Nazis. I think George Soros is entitled to spread his views and his money in any non-violent, legal way he likes. I think Obama is a thoughtful man who tries to be non-ideological but still thinks in “left” categories. He’s probably overwhelmed by the suddenness of his rise and the extent of his responsibilities, but I think he’s improving and will continue to do so in his second term.

Posted on February 27, 2011 at 5:41pmMere Citizen, I would want to add that while the Nazi Party before it came to power was socially broadly middle-class, stylistically it was anything but “bourgeois,” with its discipline, uniforms, saluting, street brawling, etc.
Neither the Tea Party nor the left-union protest movement so far much resembles it there. A few wackos carrying guns or roughing up the opposition are far from the state of Germany in 1919, or even 1932, when, as you say, there was virtual civil war.

Posted on February 27, 2011 at 12:30amI hope the tea party makes sure to always have video cameras handy at these events. I am a five foot one 67-year old woman and a woman got in MY face at a town hall. It was very fascinating. She did not physically do anything but it was amazing to me the vitriol evident in her face because she disagreed with me speaking out at the town hall. She was carrying one of those “astroturfed” signs.
I was standing in front after the meeting and everyone was being pleasant and nice when this woman came up to me and literally accosted me. I was astounded as were the people around me who had been talking to me. That sort of thing usually doesn’t happen where we live and there was an overwhelmingly anti-obamacare bill group there who had been listening to our congressman, who is also against the bill. A small group was there with matching signs. She was very rude. She literally snarled at me.

Think of the inner workings of Union’s such as the AFL-CIO as a motorcycle gang, or a mafioso ‘family’. You have to start at the bottom as something akin to a ‘prospect’ and then work your way up doing ‘dirty work’. One of the ways to ‘make your bones’ is to do what those two clowns were doing in the video together. In fact, Unions have long been known to bring in ‘mercenaries’ that are not even Union members but are affiliated in some way and they are very good at thuggery.
We’ll be seeing a lot more of these shenanigans from Union hooligans. Frankly, I‘m a bit surprised we haven’t seen a lot more of it already given Barack Hussein Obama’s very close knit friendship with Trumka and how, for Obama and his personal agenda for America, Unions and Union Thugs are such useful tools.
“If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun,” -Barack Hussein Obama
“Every once and awhile you need to get out on the streets and get a little bloody when necessary.” -Rep. Michael Capuano (D-Mass.)

Posted on February 27, 2011 at 6:36amUmm, as a nurse who works in a union hospital, and a union that was rolled into the National Nurses United WITHOUT A MEMBERSHIP VOTE, I assure you that the video you are seeing is not nurses who are being thugs, it is the organizers for the union who ARE NOT NURSES. Anymore than the hypocrite who is the Director, Rose Ann DeMoro, is a nurse. She has never been anything but a union organizer. None of the top union people are nurses.
Report Post »This union is so radical that when our contract came up last year it became ugly almost from the get go and the union was pushing hard for a strike, the hospital threatened strike breakers. In March last year when the contract expired the hospital stopped automatically deducting dues and promptly almost half of the nurses refused to pay dues, including myself. It is what ultimately made the union willing to negogiate instead of using in your face tactics because so many were not paying dues the union was close to decertification.
Traditionally, nurses did not unionize, and did so only when we were forced into hours and patient loads that were not safe. Like much of union history however, the conditions that drove people into unions are much different now. Not because hospitals would operate any differently then they used to if they could, but because of the expectations of the public that has been educated to understand a nurse doing a 16 hour shift could kill you with a mistake, or a nurse taking care of 7 patients could do the same. Did unions play a part in making this difference? Yes, they did. And like so many unions once the main issues have been dealt with, they make up new ones in order to keep living. I once supported my union strongly because I believed they made the difference regarding how well patients were taken care of, today I can’t support that union because they no longer have the focus on the patient and patient care, though they pretend to. They have a focus instead on their power and how to increase union facilities. The California Nurse Association where the National Nurses United grew out of, has a long history of controversy and radical politics under DeMoro. But then one of her professors was an ex SDS member, and it is that professor that she cites as her inspiration. Charming is it not?
So be clear, the vast majority of nurses are not unionized. The spokespeople you see for ones who are unionized are rarely, very rarely nurses themselves. In fact the head of my union has said some things regarding nurse practice that are so asinine that it outraged the majority of us because of his severe lack of understanding how we actually practice. I know I was not the only person who wrote him a scathing letter about his need to educate himself and thus not embarrass us in public. Make a difference? Doubtful, but it made me feel better for a minute. There are a few nurses who would behave the way that union thug did, but they are few and far between.

Posted on February 27, 2011 at 9:37amWhat I find interesting is that law enforcement is union and therefore have taken sides in this issue even though they swore an oath to uphold the law. Wisconsin is evidence of this which begs the question: Should ANY law enforcement agency be allowed to unionize? Could this not present a conflict of interest as it has in Wisconsin?

If you don’t know that, you really should keep your mouth shut because just by opening it you let everyone know you’re profoundly stupid. But just incase you can’t read history, think, who would commit atrocities? Someone who wants freedom and small government or someone who wants to take the rights away from people so they can under perform and not have to worry about losing their job. Someone who thinks it’s OK to steal from others so they can sit on their fat lazy ass? Unions destroy industries and those who support them are selfish and lazy! I can see your argument especially since I still keep the high and tight (I’m due for a haircut too now that I think about it) from my military days 7 years ago, but PatriotDave didn’t necessarily equate short hair to white supremacists. Looking at the total context, I took it as the thugs actions as a whole combined with his rather bare head colluded with the images that we all associate with Skinheads, Nazi’s, and their ilk.
I would venture to guess that there was no ill will meant on his part by his comment, but it could have been worded a little better to more accurately portray his thoughts. I think this is more of a miscommunication.

The TEA must be better organized and create teams of people to take videos to prove that these Union Thugs are really criminals. Any police officer who becomes violent in a demonstration should be fired and videos are the only way to prove it. It they have shaved heads, they may be police officers, they save their heads to prevent criminals from pulling on their hair during an arrest.

Posted on February 27, 2011 at 7:44pmIn these last few months, around the country, our district leaders and others have had the opportunity to participate in gatherings of union and community activists and local elected officials discussing how to weather the storm and come out of it with stronger unity, larger member involvement, broader outreach and new leaders.
Just as our Party was in the heart of the election battle, we are now contributing to this fierce fight back to stem the tide of union busting and privatization.
Even as we contend with the dangerous and extremist Tea Party, there is also a rising class consciousness in our country that must be nurtured and organized. That is our task.

Posted on February 27, 2011 at 8:53pm@Tifosa:
Your statement was invalid and absolutely has no basis to stand by. Your accusation:
“There is absolutely no evidence that he is with a union.”
Stands inaccurate as Teamsters is a well known large union. As well this violent man is marching with union members, and he is defending union beliefs with violence. What other evidence do you need? Did your school of progressive communists not teach you how to use common sense? Does intelligence not apply to you as long as you say “I am right you are wrong”?
Fact of the matter is progressives like you don’t have a leg to stand on when it comes to arguments so then those of you who rally resort to violence. It‘s all over the place not just in Wisconsin where Union members who rally for Unions have attacked opposing your rally’s like those of us who are in the Tea Party’s.
As for your avatar I didn’t pay much attention to it as more so the comments people post. But even if I did this is the internet so even if you had unicorns and butterfly‘s in the picture which some male artists are known to paint it doesn’t mean squat in gender.

——————————————————————————————————————————————
Let me give you a quick lesson here. Corroborating evidence – it is evidence that tends to support a proposition that is already supported by some evidence. In this case from circumstantial evidence. He is marching in a pro-union rally with other known union members, he is wearing a union Teamsters jacket, he is chanting pro-union and anti-teaparty monikers, and exhibiting a behavior that has been known to be exemplified (especially as of late) by members of the union and pro-union crowds. Basically it is strong enough evidence that the assumption would not only hold up in court but to deny it like you have only makes you look like a fool. Care to continue? Because you are in way over your head here.

Posted on March 7, 2011 at 9:39pmTo all you Union hating people on this page. First, you all are entitled to your opinion. That’s what makes America great we can agree to disagree, but let me make it clear that it’s the Tea Party members that are inciting this kind of incident that took place at the California State Capital. They are the ones calling us Union members “greedy scum.” And yes when people are there shouting hateful words things get heated. But I know this young man personally and he is not a violent thug as you are all portraying him to be. His beliefs are strong just like yours and he and all of us Union Americans disagree strongly with the tactics that are being used to take away our freedoms. Richard is a young man who is a very respectful young man and no, he is not a skin-head as someone suggested.
If you watch the video closely the Tea Party member claims Richard hit him with his blow horn and choked him. Why is he lying? It was a push and no punches were thrown. Quit making a mountain out of a mole hill. I was taught at a young age if you instigate a fight and get your butt kicked you have nothing to cry about. If you don‘t want a confrontation then don’t go to rally’s and shout hateful words and expect there not to be some kind of confrontation. What you people want is confrontation all I see on this page is “civil war” and yet you call us thugs. The civil war conspiracy theories are all in your twisted minds and there is no threat being planned out on you or your way of life. Read the word and see how the devil spoke through Peter to try and persuade him not to go to the cross. The devil speaks through people and I believe the devil himself is speaking through your leadership. Yes, Glen Beck is a false prophet.
