Father Watches Helplessly as 10-Year-Old Daughter is Snatched by Crocodile

A father in Indonesia watched powerlessly as a crocodile snatched his 10-year-old daughter in its mouth and dragged her under water, officials said.
The girl was fishing in the river with her father and brother in East Nusatenggara province when the reptile suddenly sprang up from the water and pulled her in, the Jakarta Post reported Saturday. She is presumed to be dead.
“Juraida was seized when she was in about a half-meter of water at the river’s mouth,” Lembata Deputy Regent Viktor Mado Waton told the newspaper.
“Her father and brother could only watch helplessly,” he said.
A rescue team was later deployed but only found a dress and hair ribbon in the sound, the Post reported.
Local residents reported seeing several crocodiles near the area a few days before the incident, according to the newspaper.
Walton said a similar incident took place last year. The victim was not seen again.

Posted on January 22, 2012 at 8:02pmAncient, you are wrong. Last year I had a 6 footer in by back yard pond. Took a week to get a licensed, state designated TRAPPER out to set bait and get him. Even he could not kill them on site, although he said once they are removed he can do away with him. No size limits that I’m aware of, and he agreed it was nuts to allow these things to roam around the neighborhoods. Every year several people are maimed or killed, and countless dogs and cats go ‘missing’.
If it was up to me, it would be open season on any gator or dangerous snake not in a designated ‘swamp’ area, uninhabited by humans. Gators are no longer anywhere near ‘endangered’, and could be protected there.

Could be that he wouldn’t be convicted, because if they cant prove he knew it was a dangerous area they cant prove negligence. But crocs WERE seen in the river a few days before she got eaten.
Luckily for him he is in India, and not the US. The laws there are far more lax than they are here.

This happened in indonesia, so even if the daughter survived she would probably be arrested for invading the crocs habitat (in muslim countries no matter what happens to a female she is always guilty)

Back in the day, like 40-50 years ago, communities would organize massive efforts to rid dangerous species from their area.
They’d kill all the poisonous snakes for example or wolves or bears or mountain lions or sharks so people in their community good enjoy nature freely without being killed.
Now people would violently riot if anyone dared propose to remove all of the crocs from local rivers to keep the locals safe.
Welp, you reap what you sow. If your daughter gets bitten in half for “encroaching” on the shark’s habitat when she goes surfing, it’s your own damn fault for accepting “Green” ideology.

We have a huge problem with pythons in the Everglades created by stupid people getting them as pets and then releasing them when they get too big. They are now #1 in the food chain. Yes, Florida allows permits to trap and kill them but the “rules” are daunting. Just can’t shoot them out of a tree. You have to capture them from the tree, pull them down and then kill them. I understand that a baby who dies may not face the judgment even if they were not baptized, but the Bible is pretty clear, and if this girl was a Muslim, well, she isn’t going to Heaven. She may have even participated in harassing Christians in her neighborhood if she was a Muslim, or at least ignored when her brothers and others condemned Christians or that sort of thing. What about that story of the woman who got up in the middle of night in her city apartment and went into her bathroom with the lights off. She reached over to the top of her toilet to retrieve something off of her sink and unknown to her a snake was in her toilet and struck her in the arm. I think she later died. Here in Florida there have been numerous killings of both children and adults by alligators. They choke every waterway in overwhelming numbers, yet the fat politicians in Tallahassee won’t take them off th endangered species list.
So, why would they refuse to do that?
Because there are sick environmentalists who have been programmed to believe these predators must be encouraged to multiply in order to “protect the environment.” although they can’t really offer any substantiated facts to show what they say is true. North Carolina hunted alligators almost to extinction without one single impact to the balance of nature. In fact, their absence wasn’t even noticed.
In addition to the very real danger of alligator attacks, we are now beset with an estimated 100,000 boa constrictors set loose in South Florida that are slowly migrating up the waterways from the Everglades to populated areas. The politicians have been intimidated by the environmentalists who pressure them to vote against laws banning the importation of these disgusting killers.
Like everything else, if anything is to be set right we the people have to step in and do what has to be done. If any of these killers ever wander into my area they‘re history and to Hell with what the politicians want or don’t want.

Always have and always will. If I wanted to hear of such stories I’d pick up the New York Post. Shame on you for putting it on this web site. Gives me the willies.. Just think if you didn’t know crocs were in the river you were ..Guess they’mostly in Florida and Mississipi.. they say that they don‘t feed when it’s cold. .
