FBI Believes Missing Iowa Girls Are Still Alive

(The Blaze/AP) The FBI told the Associated Press Saturday that authorities have information that leads them to believe two missing Iowa cousins are still alive.

FBI spokeswoman Sandy Breault told AP that authorities “feel strongly” that 10-year-old Lyric Cook-Morrissey and 8-year-old Elizabeth Collins, who have been missing since July 13, have not been killed. She refused to say what led authorities to that conclusion, but urged anyone with information about their disappearance to contact law enforcement.

“We believe these girls are alive, and we are not discouraged by the passage of time since their disappearance,” Breault said. “We are urging anyone with information to come forward. Any information, as insignificant as it may seem, could be vital to this investigation.”

The FBI believes the girls were abducted while on a bike ride together last week near Evansdale, Iowa. Breault said investigators are interviewing multiple “persons of interest” in the case, whom she declined to identify. She said authorities are still receiving tips on the case, mostly from within the area.

In nearby Waterloo Saturday about 165 people participated in a 3-mile run/walk to benefit the girls’ families, the Waterloo Courier reported. ABC News reports on the investigation:

Speculating doesn’t serve much of a purpose at this juncture. Besides, I imagine the FBI has combed their computers, and if that was the case, they’d be on it.

I wonder if there is a large islamic community nearby…they seem to be involved in a lot of child abductions for sex rings lately.

Lyric is almost 11. I will bet dollars to donuts she knows how to use a computer and met someone on line who “understands” her. That person wants to help her escapeer tyrannical Grandmother who will not let her go anywhere she wants to on her bike. In fact the Grandmother made the statement Lyric knows better than to go off so far from home. I was 11 once. I rode my horse all over the place. I lied to my mother about spending the night at my friend’s house and instead that group of 11-14 year old girls rode to the beach in Santa Monica and stayed on the lifeguard stand until morning.
I hiope that whoever has the girls gets smart and lets them go. I ope he does not get scared and kill tham. I truly feel for Grandma. She is doing the best she can.

Why, oh why, does The Blaze always link to video from ABC News, NBC News, etc. ad nauseum????????????

Please just give us the story WITHOUT VIDEO if having video requires linking to ANY of the leftist propaganda outlets! Seriously, every time that video is viewed ABC News will tally up one more “viewer” on their web metrics to reinforce the FALSE notion that they are a legitimate source for news.

The Blaze is really making me queasy as of late. Between featuring, thereby glorifying, the name of a disgusting mass murderer in headline after headline and herding us to the propaganda pimps at ABC et al, you all are FAILING US as an “alternative medium.”

Please, stop. If this continues, then you can count me as an ex-member in the near future.

I dont get that reasoning but my thoughts are the older one met up with a computer mate. Her pictures show a lot of sexuality for a girl in fifth grade which is sad. Why would one of the girls carry a purse when it was just a short hop on a bike? Never heard of such a thing.

Read the language the FBI is using. In cop diplo speak, this means:

    (1) We are certain that the girls were abducted because we have been contacted by the abductor.

    (2) We know the girls are alive because the abductor let us speak to them.

    (3) We don’t know where they are because we are still asking everyone for information. and gathering evidence.

Sounds like the abductor is trying to make some money as a kidnapper, or the abductor is having second thoughts and is trying to find a way out of this pickle.

Finding these two girls alive would be a wonderful change in the news after the past couple of days. My heart goes out to their families and friends. I hope they’re found and reunited with their families as soon as possible.

My thoughts and prayers are for the family of the two girls and that they are returned safely to their homes as soon as possible. May the conscience of whoever is involved in the disappearance work on them and make them think that what they should be doing is to take them home. Doing right is never wrong.
