FBI Says Gang Infiltrators Stealing Military Weapons For Sale On U.S. Streets

The FBI is concerned not only that gangs are infiltrating the military, but gang members are funneling military ordnance to criminal associates on the streets– including high explosive artillery rounds.  FBI Says Gang Infiltrators Stealing Military Weapons For Sale On U.S. Streets

The problem, according to Military.com, is that recently the FBI has come across a number of instances in which:

“Gangs are acquiring highpowered, military-grade weapons more frequently, according to the latest National Gang Intelligence Center (NGIC) Report. And FBI and law enforcement officials suggest gang members — both enlisted and those working at military bases as contract civilians — may be funneling the firearms to their street-level counterparts.

So it appears criminal syndicates — that include prison gangs, bikers, and notorious Latin gang MS-13 — are getting their hands on a variety of military-grade weapons including rifles, grenades,  body armor, and even artillery rounds, according to the latest NGIC report released.

On two separate occasions thus far in 2011, live artillery rounds have been found in the homes of people affiliated with the military, including one who was a known gang member. These projectiles can be easily converted into improvised explosive devices (IEDs), such as those that have plagued the war efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

But even small arms — which are strictly accounted for on base and have their numbers checked multiple times throughout the day — have appeared in the hands of street thugs, or been intercepted during an attempted sale.

In July, for example, 27 AK-47s were stolen from a warehouse at Fort Irwin in California, and sources told military.com that gang members were suspected in that theft. Fort Irwin officials have refused to comment on whether the base hires parolees, though it is also suspected that this may have been common practice, as the army base is in a desolate part of the California desert, and hiring for day-to-day maintenance jobs poses its own challenges.

More important than what has been stolen so far is how widespread is the infiltration of gangs in the military.

The  FBI’s NGIC has identified members from 53 gangs who are serving in the military. According to the NGIC, “members of 37 of those gangs — including the notorious 18th Street and Mara Salvatrucha (MS) 13 — have infiltrated the Army. Twenty-eight gangs have been identified within the Marine Corps’ ranks and five in the Air Force.”

It is believed the army has the biggest problem with gang infiltration of any of the U.S. military services, but some analysts have suggested other services may be skewing their reporting to ignore gangs in their ranks.

The problem of gang infiltration of the military itself, however, is not a new phenomenon, and may be receiving outsized attention in the media because of its ability to capture public attention.

As you can see from this 2006 news story (below), there have been reporters sounding the alarm about gang infiltration of the military for years, and so far the effects have been very limited :

To put things into context, if the FBI assessment that there are 1.4 million active gang members in the United States is correct, that would mean  about .5% of the total U.S. population belongs to a gang. Given that there are officially 1.4 million members of the armed forces, listing a few incidents of gang violence tied to those in the army would not seem to indicate a widespread epidemic as the FBI report and some media outlets suggest.

That said, gang infiltration of the army will receive continued attention because of the high stakes involved. The prospect of even relatively few gang infiltrations of the U.S. military is alarming because of the critical role the armed forces play in our defense at home and abroad, and the possibility of mass casualty incidents if certain weapons find their way into criminal hands.

But media outlets must be held to account and remain careful not to unfairly malign our men and women in uniform because of the actions of a tiny minority, while each day we see the honorable, indispensable, and tireless efforts of the U.S. armed forces at work.

Gangs are a natural outgrowth of the breakdown of the American family and fatherhood brought on us by the courts and feminism. As we become a nation of bastards gangs will rise.

I so agree. Being a thug doesn’t make you a man, it just means you have testosterone. that’s how communism expects to ruin a nation, and if you read Agenda 21, there are all kinds of examples of giving women and youth more rights than men. As a woman, I find the feminizing of our men deplorable. I don’t want a “sensitive” man, or a man who just has a chip on his shoulder like a thug. I want a man who will stand by me, support me (financially, if even modestly, and emotionally – by being the strong one). I’m lucky in that I found mine.

      Yes…you are correct on that.
Its of course an outgrowth of the ‘civil rights’ mentality of the 50′s-60′s. Those programs, leftist/activists judges, militant ethnic groups, athiests, communists, Cloward-Piven, Sharpton, etc. This is where we are now because of these anti-Americans. Decades of teaching socialism….of teaching hatred of Whites, on and on it goes.

I do not expect this to end peacefully. It is too-far gone. I hope all realize that the un-constitutional anti gun laws (anti CC) in effect will have to be disregarded when the time comes to protect you family.

Gangsta types in the military stick out like sore thumbs. Inside source at Ft Irwin tells me it was military guys who took the AK’s. Our military is us and we are them, they are simply a subculture of us. Society is crumbling at large and was getting pretty bad in the ranks when I retired 10 years ago. I can’t imagine how much more its out of control. The values of those being brought in even though they are volunteers is substandard to those when I joined in 81. Most kids in the service today come from broken homes, yea thats a big difference and a problem in the larger scheme of things because they’ve lacked guidance and no one has the guts to give them guidance without worry of retribution through workplace violence which exists in the Mil just as much if not more in Civilian life. I found after some years passing along it was getting harder to communicate military values to these people, I believe my being White was a major factor as the ranks got more diverse, the idea then pops in their heads that they own the place and your the hold over from another era that was racist to people like them. The feeling is Get out of our way, don’t you know you have no place or authority to give orders….even though you clearly out rank them. I dont know how many false accusations of racism lobbed at me that went no where and how many times the race card was pulled, but it was enough for me to hang my hat in disgust at what I was seeing happen inside to the armed forces.

In fact, experts on the possibility of a coming societal/economic collapse have been stating for years now that if you live in a city, you are living in an area where life will become untenable outside of the few gangs that may survive there for a while. Food will be unavailable (most stores only hold a three day supply, and if they cannot be re-supplied they will be ransacked very quickly). If you live in a city, make plans NOW for a way to get out of there in one piece and know where you can move to for relative safety over the long run.
But know this: the locusts in the city will not stay there. When THEY run out of food, they’ll come looking for others to take it from…be prepared, be armed, BE FREE.

Answer; waivers…recruiters will get waivers for certain background issues. Say some fool is a gang member, but has never been convicted of anything. I didn’t say arrested “Convicted” He can get a waiver on the arrest and get in. It doesn’t mater that the case never went to trial because a witness was murdered, they don’t dig that far. The background checks are a joke. There is a ban on gang tattoos, but if they are in a place that will be covered, or you can get a waiver, you can get by that reg as well. You can get a waiver or exemption for damn near anything. There is freakin’ graffiti in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and it is a disgrace. But I have also know soldiers who had been gang members and the military saved their lives, so there is a positive side. The reality is that the hoodlums generally stick out, and as an NCO or Officer, if you know what to look for you’ll see them.

Yes, the standards have been dropped. I served in the USMC in the 90′s. Came back in the USAFR and went to Iraq this time. I was in Kirkuk with mostly Army folks and it looked like a gang recruiting station. I know I saw gang tats( I was a cop for 14 years) and saw the gang signs being thrown too. Educationally, the standards are incredibly low. Most of the kids I ran into/worked with could not complete a sentence using correct grammar and most could not even spell. It was all about putting numbers in for the recruiters…sad because they allowed it to happen, again, in the return for a promotion. It is one thing for our military to be all volunteer but to allow gang members…known gang members displaying new tattoos for their gangs into the military is…well, disgraceful.

Gangs represent the power projection model for humans whose ancestors evolved in tropical environments, in the absence of gunpowder. In this type of human, bodily strength has been the primary determinant of their Natural Aristocracy, and breeding patterns. Power is projected from these populations by young males who make their decisions based on race, or tribe. See Los Angeles.

In contrast, humans whose ancestors evolved in the presence of seasons and gunpowder have been guided through the ages under a Natural Aristocracy determined by Talent, and Virtue. Talent being necessary to accurately direct energy. Virtue being necessary to lead men capable of accurately directing energy.

Read Thomas Jefferson on The Natural Aristocracy. As time moves forward observe the current racial divisions within the police departments and military become more defined. The divisions are biological and planned, by a people who are more clever than they are smart.

Before I speak, don’t get me wrong – this is not an attack on you. I disagree – I absolutely doubt that the administration has anything directly to do with gang members being in the military and/or pilfering of weaponry. Maybe by inaction or lax background checks, but I don‘t think it’s deliberate. Could I be wrong? Sure, of course.

As far as all of the individual things you spoke of, such as his referring to a civilian army, civil war, and protesters getting violent, these are all things that have been supported by various levels of factual evidence. Should we be mindful of escalating tension between Americans? Yes, absolutely. However, we all look really ill informed when we speak quickly about the administration being responsible for _everything_. It’s kind of like “I blame Bush for the weather.“ ”I blame Obama for gang members in the military.” Huh? Nah, I don’t buy it. Violent conflict coming, though? The Army and the Marines are chocked full…all you have to do is check the tats…aside from the neo-nazis, which used to be significant, you now have the entire gamut black and Hispanic gangs. Gangster Disciples, Vice Lords, Crips, Bloods Nortenos, Surenos, every body but Spanky and Buckwheat. I didn’t see any represented in my unit(s) because of the caliber of soldier and all around greater maturity level, most of my guys were in their 30s, but occasionally we worked with line units that had what I referred to as “individuals of questionable personal integrity.” That is not to say they wouldn’t do their job when we were in contact, but I didn’t want them around any sensitive gear. Granted, they knew it could end just as badly for them as for any Taliban, but some guys are less mentally gifted than others.

obama’s plans are in full swing and working in every possible avenue of our country. Anyone really believe our military would stand up for us anymore? I doubt it very seriously.

It is not just blacks, the gangs are White, Black, Latino, Asian and becoming interracial as well. This is the problem with gangs. Some gangs also use sports teams logos as theirs so parents and people will not know ( they may turn their hats to the left or right) and that represents certain gangs as well.

Does this mean they are trying to tell us that they are being ordered by the DOJ to sell these weapons on the streets of the US?

That‘s precisely why America doesn’t need more gun control, but rather politician control.

Good. We need mil-spec weapons because they’re training the military to disarm and pull triggers on citizens.

    FLOOD the streets with guns.

    The more guns, the better.

The more guns, the safer I feel.

I agree, VMan- we need more people arming American citizens- not just the gangs alone. Every American should be following the Constitution and the Swiss idea of being armed: military grade weapons behind every door. It’s the only way to insure the government fears the people rather than as it is now with the people fearing their government.

I just hope that there will be enough civilians out there who remember their training if confronted by these sort of people. Certain weapons can be targeted, and what was stolen once can be stolen again to be used by the good guys!

I hate to break it too you but this has been an ongoing issue. When I was in in the early 90′s, gangs where there and weapons were constantly being stolen. It is not new nor is it part of obamas plan. As much as I deplore Barry, this is so not new news, especially to those of us who have served. Skinheads were real popular when I was in.

Things have changed since I was in during the Southeast Asia War Games. In those days, getting caught with just a spent cartridge case on you meant the stockade. I cannot even imagine what would happen if you “lost” a weapon. Why aren’t these people being court marshaled and imprisoned for 10 – 20 years then given a DD?

      I Agree
Make the Punishment be As Harsh as Possible
Let the Word out on the street be .. “You Mess with the Military and you
will be Locked up till your to old to wipe your own A$s ”
and anyone on the street caught with a Stolen Military Weapon . goes right to
Military Court to be tried and punished under that Jurisdiction. then allow the Military use the Advanced interrogation techniques
to Find where the Gun Trail is and run them All thru that court system
Also .. anyone in the Military “ Sporting” gang Anything .. put up on charges of Treason.
As Barney Fife say’s “ Nip It In The Bud ”.
