MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The FBI says it’s searched eight homes in Minnesota and Chicago in a terrorism investigation. One subject says the FBI is targeting leaders of the anti-war movement.
FBI spokesman Steve Warfield tells The Associated Press six warrants in Minneapolis and two in Chicago were served Friday. Warfield says the FBI is seeking “evidence relating to activities concerning the material support of terrorism.”
Minneapolis anti-war activist Mick Kelley says his home was searched. He tells the AP he believes the FBI is “harassing anti-war organizers” who opposed U.S. intervention in the Middle East and Latin America.
Warfield wouldn’t comment on whose homes were searched. But he says no immediate arrests are expected and there’s no “imminent threat to the community.”
The searches were first reported by the Star Tribune.

Why are peace activists always assumed to be innocent and Fed agents always assumed to be thugs?
These are actions by the Obama administration.

Posted on September 25, 2010 at 5:51pmKeep in mind that it is a GRAND JURY who issued these warrants. Grand Juries are made up of normal, ordinary citizens like all of us looking at the evidence at hand and determining if law enforcement has the right to continue with their investigation. They are not doing this “willy nilly”, but are following the law to investigate a potential crime. While not all is done in public view, it is being monitored by the citizens who are fulfilling their civic duty as grand jurors, so that’s good enough for me.

Posted on September 25, 2010 at 6:34pmWhere is the source for your claim. A crime has already been committed BEFORE a Grand Jury meets. The GJ dtermines if enough evidence that Mr. X committed the crime. Of course, the way our judicial syatem has changed since 911 GJs may now take PREEMPTIVE action like Bush did and is now “war doctrine.”

Posted on September 26, 2010 at 8:07amMy “source” as to how Grand Juries operate is from personal experience, both as a member of the law enforcement community and as a former juror. Based on my experience, a grand jury can determine one of two things: does the state (fed) have enough evidence to indict and proceed to trial OR does the state (fed) need more evidence. In the case of the latter, the state or district attorney can ask the GJ to issue warrants and/or subpoenas in an effort to obtain more evidence.

Posted on September 25, 2010 at 5:28pmI see 2 possibilities:
1: FBI going rouge and trying to expose Obummer and his band of freaks. Notice one of the people served is part of the SDS. This is Billie Ayers’s organization. Maybe looking for documents related to Obummer. With what’s going on in the Civil Rights Division at the “justice department”, this is a very real possibility. We can only hope it’s this option.
2: Obummer getting rid of evidence before investigations are started when the dimwits loose control of congress.

It amasses initial evidence. It builds a case. Then it get search warrants based on the evidence it has. What the warrants do is put the final nails in case “coffins” to ensure convictions. You can tell who the game players are by the things they are saying, how they are acting, and what they are claiming. Posted on September 25, 2010 at 3:55pmMISSY 8S writes, “Judge for yourself.”
I did. Following your lead, I first checked if there is a connection between those people served with search warrants and the Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO). There is a direct connection provided by Associated Press (Allah Press):
“The warrant for Kelly’s home…[others]…sought evidence on travel he did as part of his work for the Freedom Road Socialist Organization…Colombia…Palestinian territories, Jordan, Syria…contact with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and Hezbollah. The U.S. government considers those three groups terrorist organizations.”
Next I followed your links and discovered a lot of disturbing information about this FRSO. I picked out one “philosophy” article from the FRSO web site as an example:
“The Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO) stands in solidarity with the Iranian people against U.S. imperialist intervention in their country…We condemn U.S. efforts to undermine the Iranian government…We applaud the Iranian government for standing strong and defending their right to develop nuclear power, and FRSO defends Iran’s right to develop nuclear technologies without interference….”
My opinion is this FRSO is directly linked to terrorist organizations and should be investigated. My opinion is based upon material found at those web sites provided by MISSY 8S. Lot of very disturbing “propaganda” like material is found.

I think this had more to do with progressive communists maintaining image rather than public safety.

Posted on September 25, 2010 at 12:18pmAm I the only one becoming very suspicious of “raids” by the government, which are announced without giving any real details to justify the operation? The media simply reports the FBI is investigating “activities concerning the material support of terrorism”.
Report Post »However, since the Queen of DHS labelled any Constitutionalist as a “terrorist”, how do we know what these people actually did? They’re being called “anti-war”. But the media routinely misrepresents, and smears for Progressive political gain – only occasionally retracting false statements much later (if at all).
If these people are aiding and abetting terrorists intent on destroying America, then they most certainly need to be stopped. But Communist regimes regularly arrest citizens for “anti-government” sentiments. And this administration is behaving more like a dictatorship everyday.
I’ll reserve my opinion until we know more.

Posted on September 25, 2010 at 12:45pmTEXAS SHEEPDOG comments, “I’ll reserve my opinion until we know more.”
A prudent attitude, a fair attitude.
Previously I write, “Deja Vu — Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn and the Weather Underground.”
Out of this came a lot of bad and a lot of good. This bad is the Vietnam war, is our FBI violating our constitutional rights, is Richard Nixon sending tin soldiers to kill students at Kent State. A tragic bad is our girls and boys coming home from Vietnam were treated with misdirected contempt. A lot of bad events came of this beyond Ayers and his like committing acts of domestic terrorism.
Good came of this. Our American society found their voice and, en masse, took to our streets to protest the Vietnam war. Our FBI was disgraced, Nixon was removed from office, our Vietnam vets were given respect and many of Bill Ayers’ group were jailed. Unfortunate Obama’s friend, Bill Ayers escaped justice.
Issues like this are never cut and dry. Nonetheless, I believe our FBI are onto to something. These days I do trust our FBI. Contrasting I have no trust in our president nor in our Department of Justice. This is unlikely Obama has enough power to direct our FBI to violate our rights, but Obama might trick our FBI into wrongful actions.
Like TEXAS SHEEPDOG and others, I am waiting to discover how this will pan out. I do know both bad and good will come of this.

Posted on September 25, 2010 at 12:55pmThe vagueness of reasoning for such raids is due to the fact that this is an ongoing investigation of some sort, and I’m sure they want to find out all who may involved before announcing exactly what they are looking for. You don’t give people the opportunity to cover thier tracks if they find out you are looking into something specific.
I am not a big fan of the government or any of it’s agencies, but I am pretty sure the FBI would have to have proof of probable cause to initiate search warrants – they won’t open themselves up to a lawsuit. As I posted on the previous story about this, I have no problem with searches like this if there is probably cause. It seems that anytime I have heard of similar seraches by the FBI, there has alwasy been good reason for them to take action. They aren’t always justified in what they find as it plays out, but there seems to always be a need for them to take action.
I’m sure someone in this group has been under surveilance for some time. They wouldn’t just rush in grasping for straws – they already know exactly what they are looking for.
As much as conspiracy theorists want to put the fear of God into you about this happening to a completely innocent person, I still tend to believe that if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear.

I remember Waco and Wounded Knee.
My personal opinion, WC, is our FBI has made a sincere effort to clean up their act since the Sixties and since the days of cross-dressing J. Edgar. I am sure there are still some problems but our FBI does have to work within the law. When our FBI gathers evidence, puts together a case, they are careful about every letter of the law; they want to win.
This “verify” notion of yours comes through our justice system. Might be some wrong doing but this is sorted out in court. However, people should not suffer wrong doing at all. Still, our FBI does a decent job these days of following our laws and protecting our rights.
I do trust our FBI and you are right, there is a need to verify actions of the FBI.
Contrasting, I do not trust Barack Obama nor Eric Holder, not for a second. Giving this some thought, our FBI is about the only branch of government I do trust.
