Fed. Gov‘t SWAT Team Busts Down Man’s Door Over Estranged Wife’s Student Loans

You may want to go make sure your federal government student loans are in good order right now. That’s because, as a Stockton, CA mean just learned, the federal government will bust down your door to get its money. Or even the door of your estranged spouse.
Kenneth Wright was home with his three children early Tuesday morning. He hadn’t even gotten dressed for the day yet, and was still in his boxers. That’s when he looked outside and got a surprise.
“I look out of my window and I see 15 police officers,” Wright told News10. Then, the SWAT team busted down his door, allegedly grabbed him by the neck and put him in a police car for six hours, and even roused his children (ages 3,7, and 11) out of bed.
But there’s just one problem. The police weren’t after Wright. They were after his estranged wife. Not surprisingly, they didn’t find her:
To add insult to injury, officers put a large, clunky board over the hole they created in the door and said it was fixed.
“The hole is the least of my worries,” Wright said.
News10 has more:
Wright said he later went to the mayor and Stockton Police Department, but the City of Stockton had nothing to do with Wright’s search warrant.
The U.S. Department of Education issued the search and called in the S.W.A.T for his wife’s defaulted student loans.
“They busted down my door for this,” Wright said. “It wasn’t even me.”
According to the Department of Education’s Office of the Inspector General, the case can’t be discussed publicly until it is closed, but a spokesperson did confirm that the department did issue the search warrant at Wright’s home.
The Office of the Inspector General has a law enforcement branch of federal agents that carry out search warrants and investigations.
Stockton Police Department said it was asked by federal agents to provide one officer and one patrol car just for a police presence when carrying out the search warrant.
Stockton police did not participate in breaking Wright’s door, handcuffing him, or searching his home.

Why do you assume you have the free right to the time and efforts of an educator or a doctor? Someone has to pay for these services! We do in fact give out billions of dollars in free services already – but sometimes you have to do the work to apply for them and for some, you have to be qualified. Those willing to work hard for an education do not get turned away – there are more scholarships available than you can imagine, but you seem to believe that you deserve the fruits of others’ hard labor without having to work at all for them.
Capitalism isn’t perfect, but it’s by far the best system for benefitting society because it rewards those who work the hardest and offer others the best deals – thus benefitting everyone. What better ‘re-distributive’ system could you ask for?
You want to be helped for free? – Check out Atlas Shrugged from the library and read it. That would be a better free education than any amount of forgiven student loans will ever give you..

Back in 1990, a college friend of mine was at her sister‘s house watching her sister’s kids and was in the shower when the police busted down the front door, snatched the 5 & 9 year old and threw them in squad cars screaming and crying, yanked her out of the shower naked – wouldn’t let her get dressed or dry off. After a 2 hour interrogation and trashing of the house, they finally realized they were at the wrong home. Said whoops and see ya. Didn‘t pay for any damages and one of the officers had the AUDACITY to call my friend for a date after he’d saw her sans apparel. The police department did NOTHING to compensate her sister or her and really didn’t care that an officer abused his position and the story was buried quickly. We’ll see more and more of this under the current regime. Get ready to Sieg Heil everyone.

The only operational difference between fascism and communism is the focus of the ruling clique – Fascists end in one person, usually a supreme dictator, Communism holds the illusion of a group of persons in command. If there is any actual conservative or reactionary principle in a Fascist state, I am yet to identify it. There definitely is plenty of Revolutionary principle in the average Fascist state, though: you obey the state or you die.

More likely is the case that this person was issued a subpoena that required them to show up in court, provide financial information and work out an arrangement to pay back the debt (such as through garnishment of wages). So, not saying I like it, but I am saying the this person probably refused to show up in court after having been issed subpoena and that’s why they came after her.

1)There should have been demand letters sent to the wife first and if she was not there, he should have been able to reply telling them she doesn’t live there any more. 2)The woman with the loans should have been subpoena to court to be told to pay up or have income garnished. Maybe these things did happen. The story is pretty short.
If this was the 1st contact from the Dept of un-education, then again, there are a bunch of people that need to be put in prison. He should file a criminal complaint with the PD for the incident.
I hope we learn more in the near future.

Your thought makes sense. When debtors do not show to claims court a subpoena is issued to bring the debtor to court to allow Judge to talk and arrange debt.
I do not agree with sending in SWAT and I agree with Ancient, this is due to Government being the loner of debt that can not be dissolved. School debt should be privattized. I believe a investigator could have very easily tracked the woman down and brought her in.

I won’t even get into the question of what the heck a student loan program has to do with healthcar.
However, we now see, via this story, how the government will respond if you don’t vaccinate your kids, get that abortion or meet with your death panel advisors. The Obama adinistration continues to bring us hopelessness and change we can controlled with.

She said that one of the reasons that the fire raged so big before we got to it was that, when our hot shots went out to fight it the Indians would not allow us on the reservation. Politics over the good of the land.
As far as the over-reaction to some overdue student loans, next it will be indentured servitude. Any one who forfeits on their loan will wind up mowing the side of the road or driving the DOE limos.

A U.S. government official confirmed for News10 Wednesday morning federal agents with the Office of the Inspector General (OIG), not local S.W.A.T., served the search warrant. The official would not say specifically why the raid took place.
He did say the search was not related to student loans in default.
He went on to say OIG is a semi-independent branch of the U.S. Department of Education that executes warrants for criminal offenses such as student aid fraud and embezzlement of federal aid. ”

Hardly a day goes by that we don’t hear about some stupid **** like this.. I mean is there not one decent person on the so called SWAT team to ask why are we doing this? Is it really necessary? Guess they are all just following orders right? lol
Just disgusting imo.
Think Waco Ruby Ridge or hell just think about the Iraq War veteran that was shot up two weeks agon because they thought he had drugs… The mfkeres thought he had drugs??? So they barge in his house during the middle of the night w/ guns ablazing because they thought he had drugs?? No regard for women children pets.. they have to make a freaking point.. Though there are a few rogue Gestapos in local sheriff’s and police departments, just as bad for the most part, they rarely stoop to the level of the federal Gestapo. In fact, many of them are militia supporters, but they keep it quiet until they retire. (Oathkeepers.org is just one example)
Whether it’s the BATF, the FBI or TSA, they’re corrupt to their very core.
When they murdered the women and children in Waco years ago, they came VERY, VERY close to being confronted with an overwhelming force. If they hadn’t backed off from their shoot and boot tactics they would have been.
Governments can control an armed society only so long as the people allow them to.

Cover the backdoor and windows and maybe RING the doorbell? I agree that the department of education needs to be disbanded; they are unnecessary, unsuccessful, and out of control. This action is inexcusable and a direct violation of the 4th amendment and a further abuse of states rights.
Report Post »Higher education is NOT required to succeed in life, continuing learning is. There are many alternatives to a college degree. I have personally only worked for a couple of managers that cared about a degree, and they were out of their depth in their jobs just like the college graduates they hired. I built a successful career long before I completed a degree related to my profession. End result? No benefit from getting the degree other than personal satisfaction. Lets fix the problems with K-12 eductation before worrying about making higher education free for everyone “who qualifies” for it.

Posted on June 8, 2011 at 4:43pm@ Jedrin – I think part of the reason cops seem to be getting out of control is because the courts, anarchists, liberals, and the public in general to some degree, have stopped respecting the cops (not to mention the increased violence against cops) when they are trying to do their jobs. We could argue over whether they are losing support because they are getting out of control, or they are getting out of control because they are not being supported. Both sides of this are feeding into the problem and making the other side worse.

I didn‘t know we have a debtor’s prison here in the u.S.A. I’m sure eric holder will have know problem enforcing this after all i am white. So the next video of this story you see, might just be of me. Originally my loan was handled through the school but since obama has taken control of the student loan business this is what we get!!!! I hate this government

The story seems to ignore the obvious an Armed Swat team bust down a door in full tact gear dragging the homeowner and his children out of the house for a loan. The weren’t serving a drug warrant in which guns could be envolved they were serving a warrant for an unpaid loan.
The D.O.E. just signed it’s death warrant.

But Mexican nationals can buy guns illegally in AZ and the Feds tell the gun dealers they’ve got to sell them to them!
Maybe BO‘s Regulation Czar isn’t quite up to speed yet and he’s getting his departments mixed up! Must’ve approved swat for DOE and stamped “Stand Down” for Homeland Security!

I bet you they’ll smile broadly and reassure you that their duty is to protect and serve, then later they will be violating someone’s rights somewhere.
They already don‘t give a flying rat’s ass about you. You pay their salary and they prey on you for revenue as if that’s not enough. They lobby your representatives for more of your dough. If you aren’t wearing a badge and/or are not a politician robbing the citizens to keep these Nazis employed, then you are a TARGET.

I would say “Sue the hell out of them” but what do they care it’s taxpayer money, we would pay for that. So my idea would be to sue them and my reward would be for the actual “idiot” from the “Department of Communist Education” that called for the Warrant, the actual “Idiot Judge” that issued the warrant, the actual “idiot” that decided to use the SWAT Team instead of a Cop to go knock on the door and ask if Mrs Whatever is there, and the actual “idiot” Swat Commander that didn’t tell his boss “don’t you think that this is a little over the top”. Make them all get on TV and explain in detail the error of their ways and apologize to this man, also make these 4 “idiots” pay for the replacement of his door of his choosing hopfully a solid metal door with a giant dead bolt that can be electified when needed, out their own pockets (if it was my door it would cost at least 5K). Doing this may actually cause them to think before they act! That would be justice for the “common man”, thinking maybe “common law” might actually work!
