Feds Probe Credible 9/11 Anniversary Threat

According to Fox News sources, federal authorities have uncovered what they believe to be a credible threat to U.S. security, targeting New York City and Washington, D.C. around the time of the 9/11 anniversary.
FBI and DHS are reportedly working on a bulletin to send to local law enforcement agencies. Authorities claim to have intel on possible suspects tied to al Qaeda.
According to a senior U.S. official with knowledge of the threat, “People are aggressively pursuing leads,” and it is “specific enough to elicit worry.”
A senior Obama administration official stated the president has been briefed on the gravitas of the matter while another official stated that the threat felt “more than aspirational.”
At first U.S. officials claimed no knowledge of a credible threat related to the ten year anniversary of the September 11 attacks, however, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano stated Thursday:
“It is still the case that we don’t have something that would reach that standard, but we still have lots of chatter out there. And we take every bit of that seriously and track it down. … The date is important because it’s 9/11. But as I said, in the intel world there‘s lots of chatter and we’re taking it all seriously. Should there be something that rises to the level where I have to issue a threat advisory, we will issue a threat advisory.”
Fox points out that documents found inside Osama bin Laden’s compound in Pakistan mentioned aspirations for a 9/11 anniversary attack against the U.S.
