Feds Redirect Billions Intended for Small Businesses to Corporate Cronies

The federal government has been hard at work ensuring that the “little guy” is getting his “fair share.”

According the American Small Business League:

” . . . 61 of the top 100 businesses that received small business contracts during fiscal year 2010 were actually large firms.”

Really? That doesn’t make any sense. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, small businesses create 90 percent of all net new jobs.

Furthermore, data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates that 98 percent of all American businesses have less than 100 employees. The U.S. Census Bureau also reports small businesses are responsible for more than 50 percent of GDP, 50.2 percent of private sector employment, 90 percent of exports and 90 percent of innovations.

So it would make perfect sense that the government divert contracts that would benefit these small businesses to companies like Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, AT&T, and General Electric. Right?

But wait! There’s more!

Contracts have also been awarded to foreign companies including British Aerospace (BAE), Rolls-Royce and Thales.

Foreign companies?

Not only is this a blatant disregard for the well-being of the U.S. economy, but it is also in direct violation of the congressionally mandated goal of awarding 23 percent of the total value of all contract dollars to small businesses. Because of the diversion of billions of dollars in small business contracts to large firms, the Small Business League estimates that legitimate small businesses actually received about five percent of federal contract dollars.

But after seeing “kinetic action” in Libya, should it come as a surprise to anyone that this administration disregards congress?

Granted, the practice of falsely awarding contracts did not start during the Obama administration. According to The Wall Street Journal, “Since 2003, a series of federal investigations have uncovered billions of dollars a year in federal contracts intended for small businesses actually going to large businesses.”

But since then, congress has taken steps to guard against this sort of behavior. Furthermore, in 2008 the president himself promised to end this bureaucratic dishonesty when he said, “It is time to end the diversion of small business contracts to corporate giants.”

One would like to think that the American Small Business League’s recent statement comes as a complete shock.

But what do you expect from an administration that promises “[free] care for the sick and good jobs to the jobless,” receding oceans, a healing planet, an end to “a war,” a secured nation, a restored image as “the last, best hope on earth,” and that we would come together to remake “this great nation so that it may always reflect our very best selves and our highest ideals.”

So far they’re batting about .98

Good job, sluggers.

      Ah who cares. Nobody is really willing to go out on a limb for their cause, and maybe even lay their life on the line. The country is toast, because it will never recover from all this ongoing damage. And all people do is whine and complain, threatening not to vote, when it is all so far passed that you have no idea. So maybe, just find solitude in the fact that George Soros’ grandchildren will be living in a cave right next to you.

      Here’s an idea….there are about 28 million businesses in the USA. There are 14 million unemployed, MOST of whom are young and very low income workers. Surely half of these 28 million businesses can find it in their budgets to hire one part-time, minimum wage worker. This would at least get the unemployment rate down and give the very young a way to learn the ways of the workplace and the low income worker a way back into the workforce. I also think that a payroll tax holiday for both employer and employee in the minimum wage category is long overdue, but close the loopholes please.
      So quit waiting for our government to fix things and all you business owners get out there and hire someone! These workers will spend every cent they are paid and, even better, they will feel some sense of pride for having a job. As a small business owner I have done this, but EVERYONE must do this to make it work! Then all those newly employed will be funneling money into our communities and it will snowball into a real recovery!
      We have a jobless recovery because companies are asking fewer people do more work, thereby increasing their own profits.[40% more! that they are SITTING ON]. If all those ‘overworked’ employees slowed down just a bit, the companies raking in huge profits would be forced to hire more people. Efficiency is a beautiful thing, but so is seeing a healthy economy with millions of people able to pay their bills.

      My guess is that you are a democrat,who believes the talking points memo saying that business owners are “hoarding” tons of cash cause we are racists who just want Obama to fail.
      Spend some time connecting with business owners and ASK them why they can’t/won’t/don’t hire people. Don’t insult us with the stupid garbage the administration feeds you.

      This weekend I stocked up on 1000 plus rounds of: .308 cal (Armalite AR 10) .40 cal (Glock 23 Compact) and 12 ga. 00 buckshot/rifled slugs. I think I’ll be just fine and if any other honest, decent, & hard working citizens need protection, as well as the constitution, I’ll be there (I’m a proud 32 yeard old military veteran & I know a few tricks of the trade). Next on my list is acquiring some body armor; then my SHTF (s*&t hits the fan) supplies will be completed and buried somewhere.

      I keep telling everybody I know that we are one severe disaster/terrorist attack away from total economic collapse. Hopefully I won’t EVER have to use that stock pile but as the Scout motto says: “Be Prepared” (I‘m also proud to say I’m Eagle Scout).

      I sincerely hope I am just being paranoid but if I need, I’ll join a militia with you!

    Does this shock anyone? When the president chose to go against the intent of the Bailout and pick winners and losers, we knew this was the tip of the transparency iceberg. Where is Darrell Issa? All I heard about pre-2010 was how he was going to open a proctology clinic on all of the Administration’s abuses. I have barely heard a word. Clock is ticking.

    He can start by opening a can of whoopa$$ over the gun running in Mexico that lead to today’s unchallenged abuse of the Second Amendment.

We havn’t gotten jack. All of the money in the stimulous was given to Govt teachers, workers the unions, Wallstreet scams , General motors, GE, and bankrupt banks.     I actually read about this over a year ago on a liberal website, of all places.
    Comments were brutal, furious at the Obama Adminstration for being corporate sellouts.
    But guess what—many said they would hold their noses and still vote for him.
    When you have no principles and your fearless leader has no principles that’s what you do.

    I tell you the truth–if my favorite politician, Sarah Palin, lied as much as Obama and did the underhanded, corrupt things like him I would NEVER vote for her.

      I sent off a letter to my Congressman this afternoon asking what he and his colleagues were doing to hold this treasonous administration accountable. Confronted him about the numerous executive orders, threatening senior citizens, trying to do away with the 2nd Amendment etc. I hope he could sense the anger that we Americans feel for what is going on!

    Who is suprised by this revolation? It is well known by those who have a lick of sence that the democrats always project what they do to the republican party,IE blame them for siding with big business when they are actually the ones that do most of these deal. Just like the fact when I hear someone mention a negitive condemnation of a black person it is typically a democrat but yet rebulicans get the blame. How the black population vote for the democrats is one thing I may never understand.

      The Chamber of Commerce for small businesses should sue the government, if for no other reason than to shine the light more brightly on how this administration works and who it really cares about. Signs need to be put up in small business explaining why cuts have to be made or why there will be no hiring, due to the cronyism in our government. We need to shout so those who don’t know what is going on can hear.
