‘Feel the Rainbow’: Gay Activist Douses Gingrich With Glitter at Book Signing

MINNEAPOLIS – Two possible GOP presidential candidates got together in one room in Minneapolis to speak before the Minnesota Family Council and Minnesota Family Institute about reconnecting faith, family and freedom on Tuesday — but not without a little bedazzling.
Gingrich and his wife, Callista, were hit with glittery confetti by a protestor during the couple’s appearance at a book-signing in Minneapolis.
The man approached the Gingriches during the signing Tuesday afternoon at a downtown hotel before dumping a cracker box full of confetti on the pair while he said, “Feel the rainbow, Newt! Stop the hate! Stop anti-gay politics!”
Two Associated Press reporters witnessed the event. The man was quickly pushed out of the room by an event organizer as the Gingriches brushed confetti out of their hair and laps.

This d.b. went to another gay activist that works in the office I work in and had him go to my manager with my conservative posts (all of which were good as well as funny. ;) Anyway, end of story is that my managers were smart enough to know that they can’t stifle my free speech but they did enact a new rule that no work-related email addresses can be used to sign into any “blog” type activities.

I was at the Sarah Palin tea party rally in Madison and she was shouted down by thousands and thousands of idiots with bull horns and drums. This last weekend in Madison there was a huge Union Rally and NOT one tea party person showed up to disrupt their speeches or rally.

Well, she ended up with a piece hitting her in the eye and it scratched the cornea. $2,000 dollars in medical bills and four sick days later, she finally got back to work. It could have been an acid, it could have been an accelerant, etc. The point is, this person put something on someone else that was surreptitiously presented and deployed. This wasn’t a joke or something friends do to one another. This is public humiliation aimed at intimidation. Glitter is tiny squares of sharp mylar and other materials that can cause damage in the sinuses and the eyes but that doesn’t matter. What matters is this wasn’t something that Newt wanted to happen or would have approved of. That forced acceptance of a secreted substance in a public setting is assault and that kid should have been charged so the next person who thinks it funny to use flour would be discouraged. Ever take some flour and toss it over flame? It burns rapidly. The unintended consequences and the inspiration it will engender is patently dangerous, putting everyone in the country at risk of a knuckle-head who doesn’t use glitter but might try rubbing alcohol, etc. We have to charge these people to stop the intimidation.
