Fiery Gadhafi Delivers Another Speech: Vows to Fight on, Die a Martyr

CAIRO (AP) — Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi vows to fight on and die a “martyr,” calling on his supporters to take back the streets from protesters demanding his ouster, shouting and pounding his fist in a furious speech Tuesday on state TV.

Gadhafi, swathed in brown robes and turban, spoke from a podium set up in the entrance of a bombed out building that appeared to be his Tripoli residence hit by U.S. airstrikes in the 1980s and left unrepaired as a monument of defiance. The speech, which appeared to have been taped earlier, was aired on a screen to hundreds of supporters massed in Tripoli’s central Green Square.

Shouting in the rambling speech, he declared himself “a warrior” and proclaimed, “Libya wants glory, Libya wants to be at the pinnacle, at the pinnacle of the world.”

At times the camera panned out to show a towering gold-colored monument in front of the building, showing a fist crushing a fighter jet with an American flag on it – a view that also gave the strange image of Gadhafi speaking alone from behind a podium in the building’s crumbling lobby, with no audience in front of him.

“I am a fighter, a revolutionary from tents … I will die as a martyr at the end,” he said. “I have not yet ordered the use of force, not yet ordered one bullet to be fired … when I do, everything will burn.”

Gadhafi depicted the protesters as misguided youths, who had been given drugs and money by a “small, sick group” to attack police and government buildings. He called on supporters to take to the streets immediately to reimpose control and to attack the protest leaders.

“You men and women who love Gadhafi … get out of your homes and fill the streets,” he said. “Leave your homes and attack them in their lairs. They are taking your children and getting them drunk and sending them to death. For what? To destroy Libya, burn Libya.”

“The police cordons will be lifted, go out and fight them,” he said, urging youth to form local committees across the country “for the defense of the revolution and the defense of Gadhafi,” even asking them to wear green armbands.

“Let us show them what the popular revolution is like,” he said. “Go out from your homes starting now.”

Tripoli has been torn by two nights of bloodshed as pro-Gadhafi militiamen cracked down on protesters. Across the country, at least 250 people have been killed in a week of unrest.

Obama had better take a good look at Gadhafi right about now, because that’s how most dictatorial minded idiots go down these days, in total disgrace as the cowards they are. They will go to any means to destroy whatever they can in their vengeful response to not being able to get their own way.

Seeing a pattern here? Its seems Obama, Sunstien, Trumka and their unionized ‘labour’ buddies have succesfully brought down Capialism in the middle east. They know the Muslim Brotherhood will now reign in their caliphate.

Soon they will attack Isreal, and begin World War III.

Unfortunately I fear you are right The domino effect Beck has been telling us about is happening.

Yes, with the Iranian ships going through the Suez…things are bad. People over here demanding that the private sector offer up backing for their public pensions, wages , insurance…when we (private)don’t have it ourselves. So the “havenots” have to support the ‘haves”, no matter our situations…a senerio we are seeing through out the world in various degres

Prepare ourselves is the cry… I wonder how…

No, that only MAKES him the martyr. If he’s a “martyr” by dying at the hands of his own people, well, he’s not really a martyr at all. If we step in though and he will become one, even with people who are against him now.

Sometimes the best thing to do, is to do nothing but sit back and watch.

Gadhafi is one bad SOB, just like Saddam Hussein. There is no rationale between Christian derived moral judgement and Islamic derived moral judgement. Therefore, Saddam should have stayed where he was to keep Iran in check and Gadhafi should stay where he is to keep the oil flowing. Kadhafi’s replacement will be no better and probably far worse. There is no such thing as democracy under Islam. Under Islam you get to vote just once. After that, you submit your soul to the “man”.

@Showtime. Yes we have many seal snipers. However, they saw KaDaffy’s bulletproof umbrella the other day and retreated. ; ) We missed KaDaffy many years ago with a squadron of “Wart-hogs” we got one of his sons but missed him. A sniper may be more accurate but VERY difficult to get in, and more importantly get out. I believe the line of volunteers to give him his martyrdom is long.
