‘I Am Appalled’: Fiery Gingrich Avoids Answering Ex-Wife Question, Blasts CNN‘s King and ’Vicious, Negative’ Press

Video follows below.

Upon introducing each presidential candidate present at CNN’s Southern debate Thursday evening, moderator John King asked Newt Gingrich about his ex-wife’s accusations that they had an “open marriage.” Gingrich was having none of it, however, and in a fiery display, castigated King and “the elite media.”

(Related: John King defends the question – “Damned if you do, damned if you don’t)

Asked if he wanted to respond to his ex-wife’s claims, Gingrich blazed, “No. But I will. I think the destructive, vicious, negative nature of much of the news media makes it harder to govern this country.”

He added that this type of negativity prevents “decent people” from seeking public office.

“I think the destructive, vicious, negative nature of much of the news media makes it harder to govern this country, harder to attract decent people to run for public office.”

The crowd erupted in applause.

“I am appalled that you would begin a presidential debate on a topic like that!”

“Every person in here knows personal pain, Gingrich elaborated. “To take an ex-wife and make it two days before the primary a significant question in a presidential campaign is as close to despicable as anything I can imagine.”

“I am frankly astounded that CNN would take trash like that and use it to open a presidential debate.”

When King attempted to explain that it was not his network that aired the report, Gingrich would not let him off that easy. Incensed, he roared, “Don’t try to blame anybody else. You and your staff chose to start your debate with it. Let me be clear, the story is false.”

“John, it was repeated by your network. You chose to start the debate with it.”

He added, “The story is false.”

“Every personal friend I have who knew us in that period says the story is false. We offered several of them to ABC to prove it was false. They weren’t interested because they would like to attack any Republican..I am tired of the elite media protecting Barack Obama by attacking Republicans.”

Yeah Newt is a member of the CFR (Council on foreign relations. They do not like personal property or other freedoms or liberties we as U.S. Constitutional citizens enjoy.

You will find Clinton, Cheney, Rockefeller, Bloomberg, Goldman with Gingrich and many, many others.

Hew is a guilty pleasure, watching him handle liberal worms. If he was just more disciplined, in running his mouth and less intellectual elitist. Which is why I believe he so embraces big government progressive ideas. The Harvard incubator seems to blast their products with big government solutions as a theology.

Having spent time with some Harvard elites, it is a common affliction. Wether right or left, they carry an air of superiority, worthy or not. Some may recall a young woman on Leno, with a Masters in English from Harvard, who could not answer the most basic of poetry and literature.

With the intellectual dishonesty of these Universities it’s no wonder students are so bombarded with progressive ideals and associations. I don’t believe quoting a line from a progressive, makes you a progressive but Newt has had a lot of big government solutions.

I just wish we could take the best of each,

      Logic – Newt
      Financial – Ron
      Business – Mitt

The Third Wave is the Information Age that we are in. This book sold 6 million copies and nearly every one in the intellectual realm acclaimed it. I loved the book and Movie. Toffler made people think about what our future will become. I do not agree with him as he is an atheist at least about some things but the book is a must read.

That link is mostly a lie. Check Alvin Toffler

Anyone that believes an ex about negative things should see a shrink. Check with the children Newt’s children say these cements were lies. I believe him.

I actually asked Newt about why no Contract with America II. He said that there were many in Washington that cared more about becoming rich and pushing a conservative agenda would not help them in that. Plus others that knew the only way to get elected was to bring home the bacon and continue with the freebies.

Remember it took time to know welfare reform worked. Gingrich was the number one target of the Main Stream Media, Democrats and Republicans that loved pork and big government programs. When the Press discovered Newt’s affair they destroyed him. Although Clintons impeachment was all about perjury the press had sold it as all about sex. Thus Gingrich was portrayed as the worse kind of hypocrite. Of course the Press were the real hypocrites as they defended Clinton’s sex. But they ended Newts career.

I will agree that Newt is well spoken, but so is Obama. The ideas might sound great but they all infringe on our freedoms. Just the fact that Newt could be a member of the globalists counts him out for me though. They are elitists and they want to flock their sheep. Well, according to the Constitution; I’m not a sheep. I know this but many don’t.
I honestly don’t mind whether Franklin was a womanizer, drunk; I really wouldn’t care if he smoked pot. His beliefs though were not to infringe on others.
The attacks on beliefs is one thing but an attack on liberty is another.
Legislation affects us. That is why I’m am a supporter of Ron and only Ron.
The others want more legislation that affects us and it shouldn’t. NDAA, SOPA, The Patriot Act among a slew of others have to go. I could care less if somebody is a pothead or atheist because it does not affect me.

There is not another Republican on this earth that is willing to put the Lame Stream Media in their proper place. They are pathetic towards Republicans and they just sit there looking stupid. When King asked Santorum what he thought about the question all he had to say was I DITTO Newt’s response and he would have gotten a standing ovation also. Most people are fed up with the Lame Stream Media (this now includes Fox) and they welcome someone who will take it to them. @Wakingsheep, great response to Miami. Newk has no regard for personal liberty and is pro North American Union as evidenced for his push and passage of NAFTA, something he and fellow CFR member Clinton worked on TOGETHER! Why do you think it was so easy for the Clinton era to get things done? The two CFR members worked together on everything since their core belief was the same – eradication of American sovereignty in order to usher in one-world global governance.
Newk talks about Agenda 21 now, but when Ron Paul submitted the HR1146, American Sovereignty Restoration Act, that would withdraw the US from the UN and kick the UN out of the US, Newt snubbed his nose at it.
As an aside, Ben Franklin used to take a lot of laudanum (opium) for his kidney stone/gout problem until James Monroe cautioned him because he thought Ben was getting addicted.

There is no way anyone gets rid of the FED at best it will be reduced. You Paulnutts are living in a fantasy world. It’s taken a hundred years to get here and it will take generations to get back to a reasonable debt. Likewise with government dependency, you somehow believe it will change overnight or even in a decade.

People need to be educated to be self sufficient and that will take a generation or two. Cleaning out the Universities of Socialist Progressives, Marxist an anti-American revolutionaries. Cutting the funding of the schools that practice these theories, giving them the choice of reform or going the way of the Dinosaur.

Hammering teacher Unions back to a purpose that serves and represents the teachers. Not dictating lesson plans and indoctrinating students. Not protecting poor, failing or corrupt teachers from termination. What’s more I would get rid of public service unions, there’s no place for them and will wreck this nation the same way they wrecked Automobile production for the big three. Funny how none union shops work fine…

Lets not even talk of his world view, as if we where the reason monsters became monsters. They’ve been around long before the US and will never be eradicated. But must be kept back before they’re at the gate. When in fact they’re already within the gates as we speak. We have real enemies, who are more than willing to kill us but planning to do so and have been for quite sometime. About 200 years or so, as it was the first war this nation fought, was to beat back the Muslim raiders. Who continue the same practices today, with their incursion into South America, how long do you all think it will be before Pirates of the Caribbean becomes a reality..?

Where is global trading when we retract from being the force on the seas? Not just the oil we import but the products we export and import. Not just our economy but the world economy will come to a crawl if that.

It really wasn’t my intention to heap praise on such a failed president but rather to warn that if we elect someone based on ability to speak we can regret it sorely. Same will go with Newt. Barry may have lost to Hillary but I watched his debates for the Illinois senate against Allan Keyes. Keyes would have been a far superior senator but did not come across as well as Barry. I couldn’t care less about Newts ex wife, his current wife or whether he is a jack-wagon. He is a progressive. In a forum event in Duncan, SC this past friday, Newt said he would ignore court decisions, including the Supreme Court, that he did not like. He gave examples like FDR ignoring court decisions making the point that judges should not be making law and the executive branch had the authority to interpret what is constitutional. And the crowd clapped and screamed. My mind immediately flashed to President Jackson famously asking SCOTUS if they had an Army to enforce the decision in favor of the Cherokee nation’s lawsuit over the Government unfairly taking Cherokee land. My next thought was, okay Newt wants to be a dictator. He was describing progressive ideas to the crowd, just wrapped in conservative rhetoric. Newt, if elected President, would be a much more effective version of Obama.

The way your “logic” works is so flawed it is laughable. In your first post you basically said obama is a good debater and he is bad. Newt is a good debater therefore he must also be bad.

The litmus test for whether a person is bad or not has nothing to do with their debating skills. The public school system is a failure…that failure is realized in joel and other paulbots. They literally do not know how to think!

Yeah, it is hard not to love the fireball.
The problem is he is unelectable in a general election.
His negatives run consistently in the double digits.
He supported man-made global warming and even was in ads with Nancy Pelosi
      He supported the individual mandate.
He supports a species of amnesty.
He has more skeletons in his closet than the Cook county morgue.
His pipe dream of lincoln-douglas style debates with obama will never happen.
He will loose part of the base because the Newt multiple adultery pill will be a pill many Republicans will not swallow.

Don’t care what he spends on Bling or how many ex wives dog him. Most of them probably married him for fame regardless. That is how Women are. That is why Barak got elected, women pick the guy that they would rather have sex with or, if you like, the better looking of the bunch. That will be the big problem of Newt over Romney, White Women! Newt Gingrich says CNN is discusting and appalling for bringing this up?
What’s discusting is a Man dumping two wives while on their sickbeds.

What’s discusting and hypocritical is the man who was going after Clinton, a 50 year old man, who was messing around with a 22 year old intern, while he himself, also 50ish, at the very same time, was having Carnal Relations with his own 27 year staffer, even that epitome of virtue, Callista.

Question: If Callista becomes the 3rd/1st Lady, would she not be the first Adultress to occupy that position?

Newt hides behind the skirts of two daughters from his first marriage as evidence that he did no such thing?
      Seriously, how would they know?
And now he says he has friends who can refute his ex-wifes story? Again, how would they know.
Newt has an established pattern. When his wifes can’t satisfy his desires anymore, he trades them in for a new one. In fact, I think it’s about time for #4.

The real mystery here is , how did this fat, bloated, blowhard, ever get any women to ride his Cain-Train?
      Power…..that’s how.
You saw this dirtbags temper. Are Women of America ready to hand over the Oval Offfice to this Man?

Captain 77…….Supporting a candidate who is so morally lacking? Lord, we‘d never have a leader in Washington if that’s all we see. Yes, too many are skanks and government seems to attract this type because skanks also love power and attention and can’t keep their pants zipped. If I start naming all the past presidents and congressmen with moral issues, we’d take this entire page listing them. Then what? We know who most of them are over the past 70 years or so.

We as Americans need to clean up our own houses if we expect the Gov/t to have morals. We’ve let them get away with this for years and I can still remember how liberals applauded Clinton for his dirty deeds and I was shocked that many actually thought it was his right to cheat.

My only defense of Newt was his confession that he’s asked God for forgiveness, has changed his life and who am I not to believe him? That‘s God’s judgement, not ours.

Gingrich employs the same tactic every time he is called on one of his moral shortcomings: he attacks the media. He knows this is a sure-fire winner with his big government supporters and even libertarians, too.

How many wives is Gingrich up to? How much money did he steal from the tax payer? Why was he the only House Speaker in history that was brought up on criminal charges?

What was it that his own House Republican members sought to oust him in the late 90′s?

Why did he not follow through on the Contract with America?

Why did Gingrich criticize those member of the class of ‘94 that intended to follow through on the Contract as “extremists” and “cannibals?”

Gingrich employs the rhetoric of free markets and liberty in the services of expanding and maintaining state power.

How many times does this fraud get to pour honey in your ears before you wake up? It’s all rhetoric. Many of you identity R’s are being conned with vocabulary…again.

I’ll take the real free market constitutionalist in Ron Paul.

Beck and his evangelicals on the Blaze staff don’t like him because he refuses to base U.S. foreign policy on the wants of the Likud party in Israel.

Glenn says he is a constitutionalist. Can Mr. Beck or his staff show me where in the Constitution that it gives the power to the federal government to take money from me to give to other countries (Israel of any other)? Foreign-aid isn’t in the Constitution. The Great Gopher is a fraud.

Don’t need to tell you folks, this presidential election is the most important election in our lifetime
The federal government has become an out of control behemoth, wrecking our freedom, our lives and our future.
The federal government cannot, and will not, and can never be, our God.
The only way to stop the growth of this monster is to de-fund it.

The reason there is a FEMA is to create the illusion of protection
If we try to stop them, they will use FEMA to imprison us and kill us

Adolph Hitler’s ‘Mien Kampf’ as well as Karl Marx’s ‘Communist Manifesto’ tells us who the people are that will destroy us.
Sal Alinski’s ‘Rules for Radicals’ gave us insight as to how the elite will destroy us.
Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven gave us the strategy to self-destruct.

When more of us are on the government dole then those who support it, we lose it all.

      Peter Schweizer shows us a simple road to stop the money grabbing malaise in DC;
      “Throw Them All Out’

There isn’t one single presidential candidate, except Barry Soetoro, who knows what’s in store for you and me.
And he can’t, and will never say it.

Focus on getting rid of the evil in our government … the money
Stop the flow and we’ll see a marked difference in our candidate selection at all levels
Taxing production is counter productive … period, end of story … stop it

Clinton had a gaggle of women with whom he was involved while Governor of Ark. Hilary overlooked it all because she had her eye on the White House. No media seriously pursued the stories except to hlp smear the accusers. They called all the women trailer trash, which reflects on Clinton’s choices if it were true. @Joel, Obama’s reputation as a debater and speaker is prefabricated. He appears to do well when he has the TelePrompter, but even then his manner is stilted and wooden. When he is on his own he is a bumbler. He is absolutely terrible handling press questions (the main reason I‘m sure he didn’t even try after the 2010 tax cut extension) and cannot respond pithily to anything in a give-and-take. Cain would have destroyed him, as could Gingrich or Santorum, even Christie. If debates matter in 2012 Obama will lose in a landslide.

Newt said, “starting off a presidential debate is about as despicable thing as I can imagine.”

I wonder if he has recently tried to imagine what he did to his wives.

We probably shouldn’t worry so much about that, though, as his view that FDR is the best president in history. Newt is apparently a big fan of the New Deal, and he thinks he has to make a similar mark on history to justify his life. What do you expect him to do in office?

Which is worse, 4 more years of Obama, or 4 years of an equally destructive progressive with an R in front of his name? That would ensure that the Democrats get the White House back in 4 years, meaning a minimum total of 12 straight years of progressive leadership.

Don’t let his showmanship overshadow his progressive views. It isn’t like Santorum, Paul, or Romney, where criticism is almost always based on words or votes taken out of context. With Newt, it comes right out of his own mouth, and it only gets worse in full context.

It is unfortunate that so few people have real knowledge about the candidates. If you base your vote on debate performances and media spin alone, don‘t be surprised when you don’t get what you expected.

Romney in Mass: Supported Romney care, assault riffle ban, raised $400 million in fees ranging from home sales to firearm licenses, supported the Department of education program No Child Left Behind, TARP, The FED, The un-Constitutional WARS, etc.

Let us not be shrill and vindictive; let us be honest. Ron Paul has been a prophet for many years regarding issues related to the Constitution and Economics. He has fought tirelessly in support of the principles of truth and liberty. However, like all men, he is imperfect. Unfortunately, his views and positions regarding the moral statutes and foreign policy are deeply flawed. As a result, I believe he is not qualified to be President. I will say, in the same breath, that he would be a marvelous Secretary of the Treasury. I suspect he knows he cannot win, and is using his candidacy to promote libertarian principles. To that end, I wish him luck.

didnt paul just say in the debate that he goes by his understanding of the constitution. why is his understanding more valid than someone who actually studied law. did paul get a obstetrician law degree we dont know about. i just dont know why the paul supporters tell us that we should open our eyes and only get info from their sources. you have to understand how that sounds to us. not good. we wonder why we should listen to anyone who doesnt want people exposed to all oppinions and make up own minds. also using the brown shirt tactics of intimidation and personal destruction of all who disagree turns people off. if you cannot be distinguished from occupy we will reject you and to show up at the same event at the same time seems more than coincidental. then to tell us you will throw the election if we dont do what you want is just childish. its the same, to us, as saying you will take your toys and go home and for people who agree we need to get rid of obama it doesnt sound like you mean it. im sorry, paul will not be the nominee and we will still need to get rid of obama. if you do what you threaten then i dont think you really understand the threat we face or your motives are not what you say. do you wish to see the end of the U.S? sometimes i think you do. i hope you prove me wrong. also, you are not doing yourselves any favors by skewing polls and electronic surveys when in the end everyone realizes what happened when the true results are known.

Here is how paul does it, he puts earmarks for himself into a bill that he knows will pass, then he rails against said bill, and votes NO knowing full well that the bill will pass and he and his district will get the EAR MARK MONEY.

Need to get your facts straight about who interviewed who. CNN did not interview anybody in the Gingrich family not even his Ex-Wife. It was an affiliate Network called ABC (Anybody But a Conservative). So repeating this is more like Gossip and like the other sensationalist rags like the Enquirer. CNN is exploring new territory for the Turner News Networks, called Tabloid Journalism and it started with his marriage to Jane “Hanoi” Fonda.

I cheated on a girlfriend once when I was younger.. 17; I was young and stupid, not so much on either count on a good day presently :)

Anyhow, I was not even married, but I learned that I ended up hurting myself WAY more by the time all the crap cleared the air and learned to never again do such a thing. That old saying, hell hath no furry like a woman scorned? No, it’s not the woman that has such fury, it’s the realization of what, how and why what you did was wrong that becomes so tough to handle – that is, if you can judge yourself properly, righteously.

How a man could do such things in a marriage, and do it more than once or twice? The guy is not connected to his moral compass like I am, is all I can say and I find him particularly atrocious for not spreading a moral message in his bid to make reparations with the citizenry concerning his conduct. Instead we get him yelling at someone raising the very questions he should be asking himself: the guy deserves to get his lights knocked out, honestly.

Forget getting permission for a Lincoln/Douglas style debate, just change the playing field. This would make it a MUCH more interesting debate.

Ya know, The “let he who is without sin, cast the first stone” incident is one of the most well-known lessons of the Bible. A woman, who had been caught in the act of adultery was brought to Jesus Christ by the scribes and Pharisees as a test to see if the Messiah was a liberal in matters of the Law of God. In response to their deceitful query, He didn’t condemn the woman, not because He was a liberal, not because He condoned her sin, but because the men who brought the woman to Him were Hypocrites. He was the only person there that day who was free of sin, the only one who had the right to “cast the first stone.” He didn’t stone her (or her accusers), but instead forgave her and told her to “sin no more.” Otherwise, the day is coming when she, if she didn’t thereafter repent, won’t be stoned, but will be burned – along with the hypocrites who brought her to Him that day, if they didn’t thereafter repent of their sin:

It just amazes me how many here who THINK they are without sin and judge other peoples past. Glenn is the one I am most amazed at considering his past and how is the ONLY one who can possibly change! Restoring Love??? You have GOT to be kidding me! All I ever hear from him now is HATE and it is sad!

All of you with some puerile fantasy of newt as the dragon slayer making an idiot of obama are fooling yourselves. Obama will look presidential and newt will look like and angry, intemperate, ball of frustration. You think obama’s team is too stupid to find the topics and words and accusations that will make newt blow a gasket. You’re not using your brains. Your feeling your emotions, like a liberal.

PROGRESSIVESLAYER. The only Conservatives here on the Blaze are the one’s voting for someone other than Paul. Ron Paul is not a Conservative, thus his groupies are not Conservatve. You may think you are. You may want to believe you are. You may try to spin that you are, but the simple fact is that Ron Paul is a Libertarian and although you may want to save a few bucks like the rest of us… that’s where your Conservatism ends. And even some of the ways Paul wants to go about saving money (gutting our military and our preparedness aroud the world) would be considered leftist and isolationist. So, you casual Conservatives with predominently leftist, progressive and Democratic Party leanings should get away from the dark side and step into the light, denounce Paul and join America in defeating Obama.
