Fiery Ted Nugent Blasts CBS Reporter With Profanities for Suggesting He’s Not Moderate: ‘I’m a Damn Nice Guy’

Ted Nugent has never been one to mince words. And on Friday morning, he lived up to that reputation.
During an otherwise mild and light-hearted interview with CBS’s “This Morning” about his recent meeting with the Secret Service, Nugent went on a profanity-laced tirade about being a “loving, passionate man” after CBS reporter Jeff Glor suggested he wasn’t a moderate.
“You are many things but you are not moderate,” Glor said, before allowing Nugent to respond.
Nugent initially reacted by chuckling, according to the video. But his demeanor suddenly changed and he launched into an explanation:
If you examine how I conduct myself, I don’t think a day goes by in my life for many, many years now, that we don’t do charity work for children. I offer you this: You done a lot of interviews? Call me when you sit down across from someone who has more families with dying little boys and girls who get a call to take them on their last fishing trip in life. Call me when you [seemingly bleeped] meet someone who does that more than I do. Because that’s really moderate. In fact, you know what that is? That’s extreme. I’m an extremely loving, passionate man and people who investigate me honestly, without the baggage of political correctness, ascertain the conclusion that I’m a damn nice guy. If can you find a screening process more powerful than that, I’ll [bleep]. Or [bleep]. How’s that sound?
Glor’s recorded voice then comes on, but you can still make out Nugent saying, “–that I might not be acceptable to somebody. Put that on the air.”
But here’s where things get real interesting: in the pre-produced piece that aired on television, Glor says he has “no idea” where the outburst came from, and then suggests Nugent might be angry because one of his shows for the troops recently got canceled. But CBS gets into more detail online.
In it’s web story, CBS notes that Nugent’s wife came up to him immediately after the interview and said he should apologize, especially since part of the tirade was aimed at a female producer off camera. He did. It also mentions Nugent called later and said he was rushed to the emergency room after because of a kidney stone.
Glor did note this in a back-and-forth with Charlie Rose in the studio after the piece aired, but that explanation was not included in the piece he put together beforehand.
Here’s the relevant part of the interview that aired on CBS “This Morning”:
And does anyone else find it curious that Nugent‘s initial reaction to Glor’s suggestion is to laugh and agree, and then the video immediately shows him getting angry? Did Nugent really get that angry that quickly, or was it the work of a helpful edit?
We’ve reached out to the Nugent camp for comment but have not yet heard back.
For what it’s wroth, you can see the entire interview below:
UPDATE:
Commenter CANDCANTIQUES makes an interesting observation in the comments about a possible edit:
WATCH THE VIDEO THIS WAY on the top clip at 18 seconds Ted’s right hand is DOWN, then the camera switches positions and at 19 seconds Teds right hand is up and pointing. Food for thought.

He is one of the most self centered personalities I have ever seen. But you know, just like Bill O’reilly, one has to let it go because he truly IS a really, really great guy in many different ways! I just can’t listen to him talk about himself for very long. But everything he says about the government, slimy politicians, the Great Pretender (Obama) and the despicable Left is absolutely true. Heads absolutely do NEED to roll this November (figuratively speaking for those in government who have no common sense) and they will! You go Ted! I am behind you 110%.

Wow, one lone Republican, a member of the state senate from Nebraska.
JZS, did you read your own linked article this time JZS ?
“Among those criticizing the event was Kyle Michaelis, who is running against Coash for the District 27 legislative seat. Michaelis called on Coash to denounce Nugent’s “hateful political rhetoric.” ”
“Coash, however, plans a low-key gathering during which invited friends can meet Nugent. It will not be a campaign event.”
Not surprising that his opponent was the one ginning up most of the controversy, eh JZS?
If being associated with Ted is really so toxic for the Republican, why wouldn‘t his opponent just shut up and let him make that mistake instead of using it as a political football and making public statements for Coash to denounce Nugent’s “hateful political rhetoric.”
Once again, your link paints a little different picture than the one you paint.
This is going to help Coash, JZS.

Its a game the progressives have played relentlessly for about a century. sadly, Im afraid that too many of us chose to believe that at some point some savior would come along and undo the damage before it destroys us, and we failed to see that by that time, it may well be too late to undo. The progressives didn’t have any illusions about that fact. They cleverly kept on feeding us socialism in small doses, knowing that eventually we’d reach the point of no return. I’m afraid we may already be there, with so much of the population having been so indoctrinated with the lies of the left that I don’t know if there are enough of us left to know the difference between right and wrong. If you want to label someone as “extreme” which the interviewer was trying to do, man up and say, “Ted got pissed because I tried to label him as extreme and he feels that is not the case unless you are talking about the Constitution and civil rights”. Romney can’t beat Obama. Romney is just like Obama. If Obama had a white son, he would look like Romney. Now. Satisfied for today ? Phew . Just wanted to get the usual dribbled comments all over and done with for this topic. Now what was this topic ? Not that the supposed Ron Paul people notice or care…

Posted on May 4, 2012 at 11:09amWhat happened to my post that asked “What does the Bible mean when it says Moses had ‘unclean lips’?’
It bothers me more when I hear someone say “Oh my God.“ This is a breaking of the third commandment ”Thou shalt not take the name of thy Lord thy God in vain/uselessly/foolishly.” Like what you are doing is so important that the Ruler of the Universe needs to stop and pay attention to you?

Posted on May 4, 2012 at 12:24pmi don’t believe in that stuff but its interpretation and many interpretations for it. i don’t understand why people use a non proven existent figure in an expression of frustration. i personally don‘t use the phrase but the religous books have so many things in them that people don’t follow anymore, nobody is 100 percent of their faith otherwise they would be as bad or worse than Al Qaeda.

Posted on May 4, 2012 at 10:35amOhhhh, my…profanity from the right? Say it isn’t so.
You will hear profanity from this babe chick every time (EVERY TIME) I hear the name of one of the “leaders” in this godless administration. You will hear it when the greedy, slime-y actor takes center stage to lie once again. You will hear it when I see a “coexist” or obama/biden bumper sticker. Let’s see, when else?
Other than encountering the leftists and their agenda, you really won’t hear profanity from me.
QUICK NOTE; Would have loved to have had a camera with me yesterday. Saw a vehicle with one of the afore-mentioned bumper stickers on it ~~~ parked in a handicapped slot.
Sometimes, they just outdo themselves. ; )

Posted on May 4, 2012 at 10:30amSeeing as editing tapes is the *in* thing to do for the left I would suggest the tapes were edited.
Other that that all I have to say is……….Give em hell Ted…..we need more men who aren’t afraid of the PC crap that has ruined America.
I might just start referring to Ted as the new John Wayne and I bet the Duke would be pleased at the comparison.

I agree .. we need men (and women) who will stand up and say “we’re as mad as H*LL and we’re not going to take it anymore”. Ted is that man .. and the left can’t take it so they want to silence him and what better way than with more of their “editing” … TED ROCKS!

Posted on May 4, 2012 at 10:48amSomehow “the left” has a monopoly on selective editing? What about Blaze heroes O’Keefe and Breitbart?
So you’re saying that having a rudimentary understanding of the political spectrum is somehow “PC crap?” Nugent is not a moderate, this makes him look even more idiotic because he can’t even identify his own position.
John Wayne would be very pleased considering they both avoided military service for the advancement of their entertainment careers and then proceeded to serve as propagandists for the military industrial complex.

Posted on May 4, 2012 at 10:54amHave to agree with you. There was a camera angle change a split second before Nugent started his tirade. I would venture to say that Glor set him off and had his little quip edited from the show. I‘m sure the pain from the kidney stone unfortunately added to Ted’s loss of control. But hey, if the OWS crowds are going to cuss out the cops, and by passing pedestrians to include children, I think these “hardened” reporters can take it too. Catch some of those clowns after hours in a bar and listen to their language. Shoot, doesn’t have to be in a bar, wait for them to turn off the mics and cameras.
