Cody Boseman and his wife love to travel, but their six-month-old was recently diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder that will prevent him from growing much further and drastically shortens his expected lifespan. Given baby Jett’s condition, they won’t be doing much traveling, but the parents came up with an innovative way for the whole family to experience the world while helping others learn about an extremely rare condition.
KSL, based out of Salt Lake City, describes the couple, now residing Omaha, Neb., first finding out something was wrong with their son when he was born in December with a cleft lip. Everything seemed normal for about a month until they, even as new parents, began to feel he was acting strangely. After a misdiagnosis, Jett was eventually diagnosed with pontocerebellar hypoplasia. According to the National Institute of Health, infants with this condition have a small cerebellum and the region of the brain called the pons doesn’t develop properly. KSL reports the condition means Jett won’t grow past his six-month-old size and he is not expected to live past infancy.
“Jett will leave us well before we want him to,” Cody said to KSL. “He will never learn to talk, walk, eat or hold his head up. In my eyes, worst possible thing for a child to have. We decided we just have to love him for as long as we have him, and to make his life as comfortable and happy as we can.”
Knowing that even in what is expected to be a short life, the medical costs to help Jett live comfortably will be great. Coleman’s brother-in-law Jeremy Rigby developed T-shirts to sell with proceeds going to a bank account for Jett’s medical treatments. But the T-shirts with a cartoon in a small airplane and the words “Jett B.” are doing much more.

(Photo: FighterJett.blogspot.com)
Not only have more than 100 shirts been sold, they are also how Jett is getting to “travel.” Coleman’s wife suggested people who buy the T-shirts send the family back photos of where they had been wearing them.
One the blog written by Jett’s parents, but some parts in Jett’s own “voice,“ he says ”I would really like to see the world, but due to my limited time here, as well as the difficulty of me traveling I don’t think I will personally see very much. I‘m hoping that everyone I know will take me with them ’on their heart’ when they travel.”
So far the Jett B. T-shirts have been around the country and as far away as Australia and Singapore, according to KSL.

“Maybe he can’t go out and socialize with people, but he’s still interacting, still inspiring people, still making them happy,” Coleman said to KSL. “As a parent, that’s probably the coolest thing for us in this situation. It‘s just nice to know that he’s affecting other people’s lives.”

Update: Due to an overwhelming demand for the T-shirts, you can now order them on Glenn Beck’s clothing website — 1791 — for $20 with all proceeds going to Jett’s family. Check them out here.

Posted on June 9, 2012 at 9:47amI know this family personally and am an awe of the things they have endured since sweet Jett came into this world. They were expecting a healthy baby after a healthy pregnancy and all of this came as a very big shock. Jett has such a sweet spirit about him and just melts your heart. Watching his parents, you can feel the immense love they have for their child. I would bet little Jett has had to go through more in this life than any person on here that has left such insensitive comments. My sister also has a mental condition and I would not trade her for the world! I have learned more from her and how she treats people than anybody! These kids just show love for people and want it in return. It’s amazing how the world can turn that into a negative thing.
We have our Jett t-shirts and are ready to travel the world with him. We love him and all special needs kids!

Posted on June 9, 2012 at 7:47amJust wow, you people make me want to smack my head against the wall. Seriously. No wonder you guys want Romney in office. Every single one of you. You know why us people can’t stand you religious types? Because any time yous open your yaps, you force your imaginary friend on the world. Who gives a damn. Nobody cares. Kid is gonna die. It’s sad. I’m gonna buy a t-shirt. Do a hell of a lot more good than getting on my knees, begging someone else to do it. Isn’t that what us conservatives gripe about these days? How do you expect any independent or liberal to be turned on by a walking contradiction. Because you all are delusional, you have only yourselves to blame for securing Obamas re-election. Romney doesn’t stand a chance. So blind it’s amazing.

Posted on June 9, 2012 at 3:00amAll we can do is baptize the child and pray for his soul. No baptism = no salvation. It is an error that Protestants teach justification by faith ALONE. If the heretical idea of sola fide is true (God forbid!), and I am only admitting what is total insanity for sake of argument, then this child cannot be saved, since they have not accepted Christ. Yet nearly all Protestants say that infant salvation is possible.
Pope Innocent: “that infants can be endowed with the rewards of eternal life even without the grace of baptism, is excessively silly … infants have not life without Christ’s baptism”
Abortion certainly sends infants to hell.

Posted on June 9, 2012 at 7:22amBALONEY Plubiuss: You are publicly rendering an exceedingly shallow and error filled reading of Catholic teaching. No wonder people hate us. Get your Catechism out, you know the one that came out while JPII was Pope, and look this stuff up. Then go to confession and talk to the priest about these issues, don’t forget to confess being a darn fool. If you don’t have a Catechism look these issues up on the Catholic Encyclopedia online, then buy a catechism and read it before you go saying things some poorly informed person told you decades ago. The innocent, especially the aborted absolutely do not, do not go to hell. Good God Almighty forgive us for our stupidity. NOTE: I tried this once before and that ‘reply’ seems to have launched into the ether.

Posted on June 9, 2012 at 8:44amThere is nothing magical in baptismal waters. The water doesn’t save you. Baptising an infant doesn’t guarentee him entrance into heaven. You are “safe” until the age of accountability (Methodists believe 12, Baptists believe whatever age you truly understand). The dunking below the water is symbolic of your death to your old ways, and resurection into a new life with Christ. “Buried with him and raised to walk in the newness of life.” It’s a public display of obedience, your first step. If you believe that it’s the water itself and act of Baptism that saves you, I‘m sad to say I won’t be seeing you on the other side. You bought fire insurance and it won’t be working for you. Stop, drop and roll doesn’t work in he77.

Posted on June 8, 2012 at 10:24pmAs a father of a child with a rare genetic disorder where as only 50 others are known to exist in the world with the same genetic disorder I can tell you that these children are very special in ways that atheist will never understand. Our daughter will live a perfect life in the eyes of the Lord, she is a perfect being just as Christ was. She will never know the craftiness of Satan, nor will she ever understand the evils of man. She will never know how to sin, she will never cause harm to any other person, she cannot be influenced by the evils of Satan. she only smiles and brings the Spirit to all those around her who will accept it. She is a perfect being in the eyes of God. She has been an angel since the day she was born and will die the same way. the world needs more Angels. It hurts me that many of these perfect children can never receive a body on earth because they are aborted due to the selfishness that society accepts in the name of choice and political correctness. Satan is truly on the side of abortion. Would I have another “Mutant Baby”? without hesitation!

Posted on June 8, 2012 at 9:12pmThe strongest indicator of a civilized society is how that society treats the most helpless among them. Hitler was a big fan of eugenics. So is Planned Parenthood. So is 0bamacare.
Once we lose sight of human compassion and the right of each person to live their life in the most dignified way possible, we are condemned to barbarism.

I gather there are no special needs children in your life or you would never say such things about these precious gifts. Life is about joy and that is what these kids bring. Yes there is stress and pain but when you have a special child in your life you see everything very differently. You and the family learn life lessons not found in any other aspect of life. Frankly, this very much loved little boy has a great deal more value than people that are able bodied and choose to lay around and let others support them.

Posted on June 8, 2012 at 9:46pmLukerw………Remember……..and I am paraphrasing……….all things work to the good for those that love the Lord.
I lost my own little “mutant” over 35years ago and only recently learned about all the good his life and death has produced when I was asked to write a paper regarding how I survived the days of his life, his death and after he died. This paper will be used in an upcoming presentation she is giving this July.
The person who asked me to write the article was a co-worker, a nurse/clinician, at an OB-Gyn office where I was a nurse at the time. She saw what I went through and has spent these last years educating perinatal nurses, doulas and chilbirth educators because of what happened to me and my son .All of this education has been to benefit others going through a similar, life altering, heartbreak.
All life has value. We may not know all the answers but ALL life, no matter how how long or short, has value.

I see Barbaranism… not as an Absolute… but as Linear Scale, with historical references… where the Nadir is the Aztec/Mongol… then the Chinese, Russians, and Nazi… Persians, Islamists; and Romans… and above us… with an Underfined Apex. Where, Barbaranism relates to Social & Economic Conditions… in context of what state other people are involved.
And, NOWHERE in the history of the World… did Compassion play a role!

Posted on June 8, 2012 at 10:37pmLUKERW – the difference betw the pagan Romans and the Christians living among them was what the Christians did. They went under the cover of darkness and took the children the pagans has thrown out onto the city trash heap. They took the children w/hare lips, cleft palates, club feet, and every other physical deformity and made the children part of their family. Those children knew compassion before passing fm this life. In case you had not noticed, the pagan Romans lost control of their Empire to the Christians.
As bad as some nominal Christians have acted in the past, they were light years ahead of the Roman pagans in conduct.
So, yes, compassion has shaped history. Without compassion, secular-humanism would never have seen the light of day. Without Christianity, there would have been no Enlightenment that created the Western world in which we live today. The Mesopotamians, the Egyptians, the Chinese, and Indus River civilization are all gone. Greatly diminished, Jews, Christians, and the civilization they created remain.

Yes, I know that history… and Christianity spread among the Slaves, alike an AntiRoman Politic. But, Christianity did not impact Rome until the Ceasar Constantine, of York England, formed Christian Legions to fight the Romans… and in becoming Emperor, he repaid his debt by making Christianity the State Religion!
So… it was not Compassion that caused the Change: it was WAR!

Then, I thought I would tell you off, but that would just give you what you want – after all negative attention is better than none. But at the end of the day, you simply aren’t worth it. Trying to figure out your motive took all of half a second. You simply are desperate for your daily thrill of annoying people to the point that you get attention.
