Filmmaker Oliver Stone Would Vote for Ron Paul Over Obama

Controversial filmmaker and unabashed liberal Oliver Stone said he would vote for GOP presidential contender Ron Paul over President Obama if he garnered the Republican nomination. Stone suggested that, among the current field of political players, Paul is the “only one” who’s “saying anything intelligent about the future of the world.”
In an interview with Rock Cellar magazine, Stone was asked if America’s economic woes would ultimately lead to the collapse of an “empire.”
“I think it’s a given,” Stone said. “There’s no way that we can continue this spending spree. In fact, I think in many ways the most interesting candidate — I’d even vote for him if he was running against Obama — is Ron Paul. Because he’s the only one of anybody who’s saying anything intelligent about the future of the world.”
Stone, however, who has made no secret about revering far-left figures such as Venezuela‘s Hugo Chavez and Cuba’s Fidel Castro, is unlikely to switch allegiances anytime soon.
In 2008 the movie maker wrote an editorial in the Guardian positing that Obama could be the “heir to John F. Kennedy” and he has already contributed to Obama’s re-election fund.
According to Federal Election Commission records, that same year, Stone donated $2,300 to the Obama campaign and another $2,300 to the Obama Victory Fund, which raises money for Obama’s re-election as well as for the Democratic National Committee.
Most of Stone’s movies contain political — often left-leaning — messages critical of conservative leaders and policies. Among his film credits are movies that many argue disparage those on the right while conversely uplifting liberal icons and agendas. Movies about George W. Bush, Richard Nixon and John F. Kennedy, and perhaps most glaringly, his critique on “corporate greed” as manifest in the two “Wall Street” installments, perhaps serve as suitable examples.
With such a long history embracing leftists and leftist causes, one wonders why Stone would be supportive of a “Paul for president.” Does Stone perhaps see a certain degree of overlap in both his views and Paul’s policies? Weigh in below.

You are wrong, they will never understand (at least here on earth) that they were wrong. No matter how bad it gets, they will refuse to acknowledge that they were the ones that helped put in all these big spending, war mongering, public officials. They would defend anyone with an R beside their name, except for those like Paul who really stand for what the guys like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson stood for, and will never open their eyes that they are destroying their society. Just look at Newt’s record and tell me why Ron Paul is the crazy one, and Newt is somehow the Tea Party candidate? This tells me all I need to know about America’s addiction to biased news coverage.

He takes their money, he speaks kindly about many of them and sits in the same leftist camp as they do.
Ron Paul supports traitors like Bradley Manning.
Oliver Stone, Julian Assange and Michael Moore also support Bradley Manning the traitor. Ron Paul supports and gives comfort to our enemies here and abroad (like Jane Fonda).
Ron Paul is a traitor IMO by his actions and deeds. Ron Paul is not America…. Ron Paul is an enemy of America, and Ron Paul should be dealt with as such… same as Obama.

You call a man who has stood behind the Constitution 100% in his long political career, yet you call him a TRAITOR? What do you call the GOP candidate that voted for/supported bailouts, patriot act, ndaa, raising the debt ceiling, you name it, they’ve done it.
And the rest of you sit there and encourage this attitude, sarcastically saying “oh boy here come the paulbots” do you listen to yourselves?

God forbid you use some common sence (or as we old guys say “wisdom”) and realize that you can‘t and won’t change things in one election nor will the election of one man undo whats been going wrong for decades. This doesn’t curb the personal attacks and the predictable bantering you see day in and day out. It’s the same old verbage that can be interchanged from one post to the next. He instilled a set of core values within me which includes individual liberty and following the Constitution. Now, I look at everything through the eyes of the Constitution, as we all should. I know it can’t be fixed in one election cycle, but electing someones like Newt or Romney is not changing direction but merely slowing down the car. What good is changing tour speed from 100MPH (obama) to 70MPH (Romney, newt) when the cliff is just a mile away. We need someone that can change the direct of the car NOW, not in fours years, not within our life time, but now. Change the direction that others must follow. The direction of the Constitution. Then we can gradually build America back up but we have to turn the car around NOW before it’s too late.
But regardless of where you stand, how can you excuse your support of the OP calling him a traitor, for what, supporting the Constitution? I didn’t realize that was a treasonous act!

I just decided earlier this week to give Ron Paul a serious look and I don‘t really understand why the rest of Tea Partiers don’t give him more attention. I was concerned he might be isolationist. But NOT being interventionist is not the same as being isolationist. Besides, we cannot afford to continue policing the world. We need our troops home so they can defend US. And I am sure Paul would make his first order of business cutting off all this foreign aid to countries like China. What’s not to support?

But he is the only serious Constitutionalist we have. If we can get the Senate and Ron Paul, we can bulldoze half of D.C. in a year and balance the budget in four. Newt and Romney are going to be the same song, different verse. Santorum just doesn’t seem up to it. Paul is tougher than he looks – and YES, even electable. I know it’s scary.
